And my first official post will be: artwork!
Recently, i've been going through a NiGHTS kick (wonder y? myuhuhu), and thus a lot of NiGHTS related artwork has been tunneling through me.
First off: Paper NiGHTS (forgive me, I am not good w/ linking thumbs and the such on forums...gimme a lil time to figger it out?)
I made it in papermaking class, by dying paper pulp (most of which was cooked and rinsed by myself and other people in my class), then drying it on plexiglas (you can dry on wood; by drying on plexiglass, one side of the paper becomes shiny and smooth, rather than on wood where it dries w/ a woody texture). The vest and the arms were the hardest part, as the paper was really thick and I was hand tearing it (to keep a consistent rouych edge that the rest of the paper had). T_T My fingers got really red. Its held together w/ rubber cement.
I like how it came out, tho the eyes are a little spooky. ^^ Its hanging on my door, looming and leering at those who pass by my room to go to the bathroom. XD

That's so cool! Making handmade paper is hard. I did it once. >>;; Now I just buy it. lol I was always to impatient to wait for it to dry. You did an awsome job with this. I'm very impressed. ^-^ A totally cute idea. <3's~

^^;; heh heh, I'm prolly gonna send you a full e-mail of stuff I've done over the last year, but right now, I'm furiously trying to make a NiGHTS costume for my Obitsu Ball-joint doll in for Fanime Con (this weekend O_O).
But thank you all for the feedback!

Not quite NiGHTS related (I suppose related by proxy), but this is why I'm a little MIA from the internets lately: Wii Would Like to Play
Lol, the giant Wii-mote was genius. And now....I must dash off to work at Target. O_O

Lessee:
One: Oil Painting of a dream jester
Did this about...a year ago? Its not completely finished (gah, my paints are in the garage somewhere O_O), but I'm happy with it so far. I think this took me a month and a half (since my oil painting class was twice a week), which was pretty cool all things considered since I'm the most impatient person ever (I like watercolor and acrylics, they dry fast. Gouache is my archenemy...XD). Yay for flippy NiGHTS.
And Two:
A poem from last semester's poetry class. Quick explaination: it was an assignment, it was supposed to be a meditation poem (like Robert Hass' Meditation at Lagunitas), every line is 11 syllables long (a nod to the 11 year wait from NiGHTS into dreams to NiGHTS 2). Ummm, yeah. Here you go:
Meditation from 1996
Spring, and the rings in the sky rang with orange
tones, star shaped bells glittered and spun in my dreams.
Middle school dragged on, while I dreamed I flew skies
of blueberry, wishing for summer. May, June,
July, August: names for girls, names for vacation.
The valley, neither desert nor ski resort,
a cradle for the dreamer, a special place
for promises on pink pinkies. Whistling
winged fifers bob in the intermittent
puff breezes. When I was there, I was happy.
Falling through the years, I dreamed of another
spring, another valley. I was not alone.
Other dreamers wished, dreamed, replaying the old
Christmas memories, revisiting the old
valley, its former glory faded, blocky,
missing chunks like unfinished wooden puzzles.
Now, a resident of the kingdom Adulthood,
speak, think, and act as an adult, my childhood
things well dusted, yet played with, loved like velvet
bunnies, alive. Dreams still populated by
circus acrobats, patchwork opera singers.
Still remember stars falling from my fingers.
Still recall the springy hills of jade and lime.
Still have memories of singing, fat fay folk.
Still dare to dream, dare to fly, to throw myself
at the waiting ground and miss. Years since the first
steps into this valley, the valley remains
inside me, like bike riding and hair braiding.
The memories, not forgotten, just buried
beneath useless math, meaningless procedure,
the pantomimes of rote memorization.
The last few years have brushed past, indifferent.
The waiting turned dreaming, turned wishing; turned, turned.
The last leg of the journey, eleven years
looping back to my dreaming years, flying back.
A joyful Capistrano Swallow’s welcome.
Welcome home, my tired, old friend. Welcome home.
(I have not found one professor that thinks anything based on video games can be made into art [fan art, fan lierature, esp. poetry]. I find poetry even in Halo XD).

Your painting is looking good. ^^ I myself have never tried oils before. I'm also to impatient. lol I like the pose you have him in.~ Your poem is lovely, I enjoyed it immensely. <3's~ It fits how i feel about NiGHTS perfectly. I'm sure it's the same though with all of us Dreamers. <3's~ Great job on them both!

Man, did I take a vacation from the forum....o_o. Hi, guys! Watch as school and work (no, wait, I quit, scratch that) destroy my life! Now, I wasn't sure if linking images like this was ok, but I'll try it anyway. If this is too graphic heavy, I shall cease and give you pretty peoples links. Onward:
And now, the what and why. This was my perspective final for last semester's art class in which, because of work, I failed spectacularly. Which is why i am currently retaking it. Our final was to create a spire/tower top and draw in the the perspective protocols given to us throughout the semester. So I took Seeds Tower (of course), broke it down and simplified it.
Now, first I had to draw a front view, then break down the different floors (as the tower itself consists of several tiers) into different topviews/cross-sections. To the left is the front view, to the bottom are the cross-sections.
This is the monstrocity w/ all the lines and vanishing pts. Having the front view provides how high all the tires will be. The cross-sections must be placed at a staging point (low on the paper, out of sight here), then reflected up onto the perspective plane. This process took approx. 6 hours.
The Cross-Section Construction
The Height Construction
I'm happy w/ the tower, but seeing as how I must better myself, I am attempting Bellbridge's tower for this semester's final. ^^;; I'll post it prolly this mid-december (as that is when the project is due).

I like Illustrator because I cannot use Photoshop. ^^;;;; I like how his hat makes him look like he's raising an eyebrow. Vector art is your friend.

....-__- Um...yeah, I'm back. XD;;;
With:
A new (new in like 10 or so years) Christmas NiGHTS piccy. Ooooh, Elliot and Claris. XD
A Christmas JoD. Coming up w/ outfits iz fun-fun-fun.
If you're wondering about the dates, here's the short story: I was drawing one pic a day during Christmas as an Advent Calendar, and I drew 2 NiGHTS piccies cuz it was the season of NiGHTS. ^^ Note the JoD date. O_O And I wondered why I took such a long vacation from the forum. I'm still trying to figure out the over-saturation dealie with the pics, and yes, I now know that Will's hair is brown, not this hideous orange. ^^;; Looked dirty brown on my screen.
So yes. Lunis is back. If you're interested in my Advent Calendar, click my siggie.
