You know that guy that made iNVADER ZiM? Yeah! Why don't we talk about his comic books~ JTHM, SQUEE!, I feel sick and all of those other amazing creations.
If you guys didn't know about any of his work besides ZiM... Well, all of his work is pretty gruesome. Even that cartoon. Basically, imagine what that show would have been like if it were not on a child friendly channel. His comic books are awfully gory, but still have an amazing story line if you look deeper than all of the blood. At least three of his series share the same characters and world and they're all filled with dark humor, laughs, blood, and depressing stuff.

If you liked invader ZiM and you're not squeamish, go read it. If you have, let's talk about it~ I've re-read through JTHM countless times, and I finally just read through all of SQUEE! today~ I've only skimmed through the first I feel Sick though...

Squee was the first of his work I read, I think it's a pretty excellent series.
Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, however, I found too pretentious and wordy while not getting philosophically deep enough for me to find it satisfying. However, I've only read the "Director's Cut" collection, which doesn't have the "Meanwhiles" which were supposedly some of the best parts.

Invader Zim, I did not watch when it was on TV. It was popular and me and my unpopular friends in high school basically agreed that "if other people like it, it can't be good." I eventually got the DVDs and found it to be fantastic, though!

Jhonen has a cool style and a funny sense of humor. It makes me wish he was doing more. (I have a few odds & ends in comic books which he contributed to; I guess he made enough money during the Zim/Hot Topic boom so that he doesn't need to make comics nowadays?)

I am pretty much Devi, except i lack an ex who shits his pants.
Also I watch him on Twitter and he was recently selling signed limited prints of his OC stuff for $50 a go. I'd say he's minted for life.

His stuff is good if you don't take it too seriously, aahahahaha. I Feel Sick is easily my favourite of his works.
I just wish he'd do.. y'know.. new things.

I recently read I Feel Sick, as SLG was having a big sale on their website. I still don't really like his writing style, despite the fairly cool concept behind it. But the art is great and being in color only makes it better.

I think it's tough for me to judge his works fairly because they remind me of a goth guy I knew in college who was a complete toolbag (but was immensely popular). He would always make references to Vasquez's humor but pretend that he was being creative and it seemed like I was the only person who was aware of this. So he would be all yelling about "CRAZY MONKEYS" and show off HIS comic about a serial killer who dies and goes to heaven but hates it because God's a jerk... yet ladies would fawn over him and be all "you're SO original and smart" and I would be frothing with anger...

I was a late bloomer with his comic but when IZ first aired I was in loooooove, and not with Gir lol. I was an obsessed meathead in middle school and I started to buy the JtHM comics I have a few issues but I own both I Feel Sick and the Filler Bunny comic. I have a HNB shirt that is literally almost gray from being so old but the age kind of gives it the right look for his works. JV is a mastermind of morbid cartoon mischief and I'm sad that shows like Fairly Odd Parents and Spongebob overwhelmed IZ like PS did the Saturn XD If you like other Slave Labor published works I suggest Bear, its probably even more lengthy than JtHM but funny.

I loved I feel sick part one but sadly I never got my hands on the second part. Another goth comic from back in 2000 that I used to like was "Gloom Cookie". The first two volumes of that comic was awesome. I loved those black and white drawings. It's a shame there isn't anything like that out there anymore. I need a time machine!
