If you'd like the Playstation 2 remake of NiGHTS into Dreams to be brought to the Wii's Virtual Console, here is a petition you can sign that is working to do just that!

Now this is something I can get behind. When I saw NiGHTS on PS2 I got all excited then realized that it was only for Japan. I signed the petition, but I will admit I would love it if I got it for my PS2 in America.

Why Virtual Console? The game is too big to even fit on the Wii's harddrive which is only 512MB last I checked.

I don't think it's at all possible for a PS2 game to be on VC. Even if you could get around the storage limitations JaxTH pointed out, the Wii's probably not strong enough to run a PS2 emulator.
Since Sony's still a competitor of Nintendo, I really doubt they would license it to Nintendo. If it was going to be put up for download at all, it would have to be for PSN.

(It's much more realistic to have the Saturn version available. Although I'm unsure if the Wii could handle even that, Saturn emulation is notoriously difficult and I don't know how small they could get the game data.)

I was wondering if the PS2 version would be even easier to port than the Saturn version.. but anyway, yeah, I wonder also if the PS2 version may apply to PSN in a way that not even XBL could reckon with.. I imagine it'd also be easier to make the non JP version if it's gonna only be a download..


PS2 NiD and Ico.. two PS2 titles that sure would be great to show up on PSN..

I have plans to try and get a proper campaign going to have the game brought to over to XboxLiVE/PSN but i need to finish this Dont Forget NiGHTS thing first.

It's tempting, but that's also a fairly old petition. Sega's got enough going on with the ASR campaign, so I'd suggest giving the old company a break for a bit.

What everyone says is true. As well, remakes aren't released on the VC. Slight modifications in certain titles, but not full remakes. For the VC, only the Saturn version would be opted for even if the Wii did have the system available for emulation and the Wii had the power and resources. If anything, a Wii-make would be your best bet. Port over NiD that way. Less messy and no worries with downloading. Let's just wait until after the campaign though. ^^

I'd love to see this, but like everyone said above, it just couldn't happen. Maybe on PSN/Xbox Live, but not VC.

Besides, it would kinda take away from the magic of playing it on the Saturn, at least in my opinion. So I'm kinda glad the PS2 version was only released in Japan.

i think this is a very good idea because i have a Nintendo wii and i would buy any vc game that is NiGHTS

Even one SEGA CD game alone would take up more than half of the Wii's memory (And thats only if there was nothing in it's memory at all).
