Lilycat (LiLYCAT, I guess. XD) showed me the D: thread, and from there I got interested in the site. I've hardly played NiGHTS, and my dad played a little more than me, which I watched, so I know next to nothing about this game. I can always learn, though, right?! =D

No it's not. S/he was designed that way so players could relate to him/her better. They can think of him as male or female, whatever they choose. And seeing as how NiGHTS is a Nightmare, not a biological creature, it makes sense XD
