---
Yo youtubers, we NiGHTS fans need help
See since AllStars Racing has risen a yelp
From admin DiGi down at N-i-D-com
He's raisin' the alert when we were in the calm
Seems SEGA has ignored our favorite purple jester
And now we're sending out the message to pester
No word, no news if A-Stars he's involved
He, she, shree, hir; okay whatever
From a little interest this stand has evolved
From a single idea to people shouting "Never!"
See here's the skinny, the reason, the matter
You know that hedgehog who never gets fatter?
Secondary to Sonic is the inclusion of NiGHTS
And until we see him we won't give up the fight
To backup the Maren that we so cherish
We can't let him die; can't let our NiGHTS perish
But what, what's this? Why haven't you heard?
Journey of Dreams didn't have sales spurred
NiGHTS's close to goin' but we can't have that
I mean, he's bein' nearly replaced by Big the Cat
"Froggy, Froggy, Froggy." Oh please make it stop.
No wonder they're opting for a DLC shop
(Anymore of that and it'll make my eardrums bleed.
And on top of looming threats, this isn't what I need.)
So NiGHTS for DLC to treat the fanbase right
A few months are left; the launch is in sight
Other IPs have wound up inactive
So we gotta protect NiGHTS, gotta get proactive
See that link? Click or type so NiGHTS ain't disregarded
Then send off those e-mails so SEGA'll be bombarded
From "just a racing game" to no longer seen at all
We have to band together to prevent NiGHTS' fall
We're trustin' you DiG'.

This...is slightly harder with no BG music. >_> There's a reason I suck at rap and hip-hop...and I don't know what that reason is.
...Blah. Grocery shopping. Later.
Edit: Made two edits to the song (nothing major, just really minor and you won't probably notice)...now if only it would quiet down around here...I'm not getting that wish anytime soon. Also the tune of "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" seems to fit quite well in the beginning. X3
Edited again. Changed a word ('that' to 'who'). I think that's the last one.

Sweet, I sent out the message to all of addresses except the French & Japanese. Until I can find a proper translator, I am unsure if google or bablefish will help aid these situations. It's worth a try though. I wish for the best.
Don't use Babelfish with Japanese. It will mangle the message to the Pit and back, and you won't be able to understand it no matter what you do with it. It's pretty bad with French, too. I could ask a friend of mine to translate it into French and repost it here for those of us who want to poke at the French reception and don't speak it, though. Japanese... I'd have to try and do a collab of that, since my Japanese probably won't cover all of it, and dictionary diving can only take you so far.
Anyhow. Time to go add a number.

For all we know NiGHTS might end up being on the roster after all, but bringing up the character again during talks of DLC sure as hell can't hurt...just in case. It opens up the possibility of DLC in the future if Sega thinks there's money to be made. It doesn't hurt to raise your voice with this sort of thing.
About the French and Japanese addresses. Just write to them in English anyway. The way I see it somebody in their offices may be able to read English and at the very least writing to them in proper English is better than writing a message in broken French or Japanese. It's what I did back in Spring when I requested a console port of Virtua Fighter 5R. Who cares if they can't read the message. They should at least recognize the names of their properties and realize we're here.

Why bother?
Why be a part of the herd?
Ladies and Gentlemen, this called for a TRAViS caliber essay. I just poured more heart and soul into two pages of Microsoft Word than I did for the five pages of graduate school essays I wrote last week. My story below. If anyone at Sonic Team takes the five minutes to read it, I don't think they'll forget NiGHTS.
For your consideration: The Essay.
Have you ever had a dream come true?
I don't mean dreams that you can work to achieve. Nay, I am asking about dreams outside of your control, where realizing it changes your perspective on people, the world, or life altogether. Your role in the dream becoming reality is miniscule, if not non-existent. But somehow, despite all fair logic, reasoning, and probability, it happens. Take a moment to run through your memory and see if you can find an example of this. Can you? If not then I'm afraid this message will make little sense.
Growing up, I was exposed to all sorts of places, people, and media. Some just breezed by without the slightest impression, while others reached out, grasped my intellect and imagination, and to this day never let go. Beyond my family and friends, one piece of media has been with me for years, and every day I become more infatuated by it.
An interactive story about two teenagers who dream every night and overcome their fears. Though having never met, they found each other in the world of dreams, connected by a common trait that allowed them to fight against their nightmares. They were powerless to battle their demons, until they both encountered a purple-clad jester, who possessed the ability of flight. They took control of the jester's body, and were finally able to conquer their nightmares and restore peace to their dreams.
To this day, NiGHTS into Dreams has remained the single most influential video game I have ever had the privelige of playing.
A video game? Surely I jest. But I ask, what differentiates a story told in a video game from a story told in any other form of modern media? Because the narrative is shown, not told, does it make it less credible than a book? Because the story is interactive, and the events user-influenced, does it make it less credible than a film? Because it was designed by someone with no literature available in print, does the author become less credible than the author of an international best-seller?
Ever since the demise of the SEGA Saturn, my dream was to see a sequel. The Dreamcast came and went by the wayside, as did the entire hardware division of SEGA. Brief cameo appearances every so often stirred my heart with hope, but alas years went by without any news. For years and years I waited and waited, and attempted to have some say in a sequel's existence. Letters to SEGA, letters to Sonic Team, and letters directly to Yuji Naka went unanswered beyond the typical "Thank you for your interest and support" mass-mail. Despite this, I never gave up hope. I knew in my heart that it could happen. But it was still nothing more than a dream; one I prayed would see reality someday.
March 29th, 2007. 4:12 PM EST. My dorm room at my university. The day, time, and place I remember seeing my dream come true. NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams was coming. My faith in SEGA was reaffirmed. At least a few other people in the right places cared as much as I did about seeing a sequel becoming a reality. Within a week I bought a Nintendo Wii. Yes, I bought the system for one game. Though other SEGA titles like Sonic and the Secret Rings piqued my interest, I still purhcased a Wii only for NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams.
Fast-forward to today. An enjoyable, though unmemorable, game and several more cameo appearances later, I find myself once again in the same situation I was in just a few years ago. While this time around I am not hoping for a game, I am hoping just in principle more than anything. As yet another member of a large fanbase's psuedo-petition, I ask that NiGHTS not be forgotten. The upcoming Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing has had many characters revealed (some that should not have been discussed as well, such as ToeJam and Earl), but there has been no sign of NiGHTS.
His inclusion in the game is a deciding factor for my purchase. I own every game in which he is featured or has a cameo appearance. Should he not be included in the main game, discussions about downloadable content have surfaced. If he is not featured in the main game, he will need to be available as downloadable content before I decide to purchase. By then, markdowns may have occured, and it will be too late for me to give my full support to a publisher and development studio that I still have fond memories of from my childhood.
I feel the impact left behind by NiGHTS into Dreams on a near daily basis. More recently than ever, as life changes and I face daunting new obstacles and tasks, I look back onto the story and how it's possible to fight your fears and change yourself for the better. If that one game, that one story, left as much of an impact on my life as it did, I can only wonder how many other people in this world had the same experience and lasting impression as me.
My name is Travis, and that is my story.
Don't forget NiGHTS. I surely won't anytime soon.
Sincerely,
Travis W.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. Nothing my shaver can't fix...

In other news...the NiGHTS song sucks without any BG music. XP Oh well, now if only I can get time to get the last few lines recorded... It's weird hearing my voice so clear (lump in throat averted!). It's almost...feminine.

Edit: Love. That. Essay. o_o

He'll be in Phantasy Star Portable 2:

THIS WAS NEWS TO ME! and I thought I should share.
(Although NiGHTS still really SHOULD be in this game)

BTW, it was brought to my attention through the Panzer Dragoon forums that NiGHTS is not going to be totally fading from Sega's output even if he isn't in S&SASR.

This is good news, and its really cool looking. However, I think he deserves something better then a summon. Well, at least in my opinion. I think Sega needs to stop ignoring their secondary characters, and put less focus on Sonic. If you keep shoving him in everyones face, they will get bored with him after awhile. I know I have since Sonic RPg came out.

Keep going.
Remember, no spamming or being annoying/abusive towards the company, we want to see you be proactive and positive about NiGHTS and this game.
People who care = numbers = profit
And that's what it boils down to at the end of the day. Even if we piss them off from our show of enthusiasm they can't turn around in the future and say that NiGHTS didn't make ASR because nobody would buy him. Because we would.
Plus this outpouring is technicaly good free advertising. People are talking about ASR and raising brand awareness.
If Christmas comes around and NiGHTS is revealed i will sit here and eat my humble pie, but i sure as hell wont feel bad for caring about NiGHTS. If he's not revealed, i wont be the one to say 'i told you so' either. I guess then I'd just feel even more motivated to make a difference.
One of the base morals of NiGHTS was to not sit and take something you dont agree with, even if it means annoying the people above you. Sometimes it's scary and you might doubt yourself or your reasons, but don't give up on what you think is right. If you love and care for something you will fight for it.
In the past we've not always been successful, but if SEGA want good PR, more people to buy this game, proof that they listen to the consumer and fan, then they have nothing to lose by making NiGHTS DLC if it's too late to put him into the game itself.
I have faith in SEGA to do the right thing since i believe the company has really been back on the way up lately learning from past mistakes.
DLC or playable -eitherway- right now we're not seeing ANY NiGHTS at all in ASR and that is our concern.
Don't give up guys, just don't cause trouble.

And like i said a while ago, this is my song of the moment:

I've recently joined the SEGA forum that i mentioned in the first post. A topic on NiGHTS has started. It would be great if you could all join us in that topic too, just to keep the talk on NiGHTS as active as possible. I know the NiGHTS forum is here and SEGA can see it but we need to take this campaign to them. So, if you have spare time, join up there and chat with us in the AllStars Racing forum in the NiGHTS topic.
Also, nice rap, SmashQueen, lol.
I want to make a song too but i don't know if i have enough time.

Just be positive, happy and share your ideas with them.
EDIT-
Actually i need your help compiling a list of RELEVENT gaming communities that we can talk about NiGHTS and ASR in, like Gamefaqs etc etc. If we start up regular conversation in gaming forums it will remind more people who NiGHTS is, plus get ASR more publicity in the process.

To be honest I'm kinda surprised that Ulala hasn't been shown yet since she's usual Allstars staple. Who was it again who said that Ulala had been name dropped?
If anything, this little campaign of ours has introduced a whole new bunch of people to NiGHTS. And there aint nothing wrong with that. It's nice finding fans you've never spoken to before.

Hello, I am a dedicated member of the largest online NiGHTS into Dreams fanbase, and we have not seen any concrete evidence of NiGHTS being in the game "Sonic & SEGA AllStars Racing." In fact, we have been shown so little that it seems as though NiGHTS may not be in it at all. We have heard about DLC is going to be in this game, and if he is not in the main game, we please ask you make him a DLC character. We all love this character very much and do not wish to see him becoming less and less prevalent in your games. NiGHTS has a dedicated fanbase and we all care to continue to see him for many years to come.
Please let NiGHTS take part in AllStars Racing.
Don't Forget NiGHTS.
Yours Truly,

Its called The NiGHTS Union. You may have been apart of it. No one comes around any more though, so it makes me kinda sad. I've tried multiple things to increase activity there, but to no avail, nothing has worked. Is this the old NiGHTS community I was once part of?
