DiGi... is there an email we don't know about? I remember you saying that you knew something the rest of us didn't... I'm assuming it is NiGHTS' absence from the game. Am I correct in assuming this?

Reading through a lot of your emails I really don't think mine is convincing enough but here it is.

I, along with countless other members of the NiGHTS fanbase, have been hoping for at least a hint that NiGHTS will be in your upcoming Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing video game. However, after several months, we still have not see any indication that our favorite flying jester will be a playable character in the game.

I'm asking that you put NiGHTS in the game as DLC if the character hasn't already been put in the main game. The NiGHTS fanbase is really looking forward to playing as our purple friend once again and if he isn't in the game it'd be a major letdown.

Probably should have just gone with DiGi's default letter but what's done is done. The greater the number of emails the more chances of them hearing our voices collectively.

The Sonic Team address is bouncing emails. Best bet is to not use that one and focus on the PR emails instead. Until i find another email address worth hitting i strongly suggest going for the PR addresses. If you have only emailed the Sonic Team address so far then go and hit the PR ones.

I don't think we caused the Sonic Team email to break, i think it just isn't working. So don't waste time with it and go for the other email addresses.

And i want to remind people that this is a 'plea' not a 'protest'. We are not going there angrily and looking for a fight, we are going there to raise awareness and request NiGHTS be in this game. So, as annoying as all this is, keep your messages respectful.

Nah, the sonicteam e-mail was the last on my list. I e-mailed all of the pr's and the European addresses. I just thought I would give it another try, and it seems that try failed. But it is probably as SmashQueen said, Sonic Team USA is dead, so I guess just add a jp.co to it somewhere? XD

Also be aware our intent isn't to break anyones mail servers, it's to get a lot of genuine fan opinion to them. It's easy to spam, but not easy to get real backup from the fans. Theres no glory in being a dumbass, so just hit up each email ONCE. Yaddayadda.

As for NiGHTS feet, wtf dude, get some glasses lol, i've not touched his feet, this is the way the original artwork is. The purple bits hardly show because of something called perspective.

You know, with all of this going on it makes me wonder: Why hasn't Sega pursued NiGHTS on other systems? I think a DS game would really help tie in with his controls.

Before going after any of the big news sites like Joystiq etc we need to formulate something of a solid plan, which i am doing bit by bit, when i have something worth sharing with you guys I'll be needing your help immediately. Because right now to a lot of people it looks like we're just being paro doesn't it?

I know its INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING trying to tell people that you don't think NiGHTS is in this game when they think you are over reacting because, lets face it, NiGHTS -SHOULD- be in this game. And if i wasn't in the position I'm in - I'd think so too probably. Especialy after the way we were treated at Summer of Sonic. Everything seemed alright with NiGHTS right?

Wrong.

People didn't believe it when i knew too much about JoD months before the game came out either, down to minute details. People wondered why we sent those projects off to sega back in 07. I was miles ahead of even the big gaming sites and they didn't like it. So its easier to ridicule a fansite isn't it?


If you guys had been wondering why i decided to CHANGE THE ENTIRE WEBSITE a couple of months ago, completely out of the blue, think about it. I need the site to be as good as it can be, and fast to update for stuff like THIS. I knew it was coming, it was obvious. Take a look at the trailers and what has been revealed of the game so far.

So the second you start to feel angry about not being taken seriously, just remember this is for a reason, and one day you might understand what all this is about and be like 'OSHIT' ok.


If NiGHTS turns up because of what we've been doing, in any shape or form, people ARE going to turn around and say 'told you so'. But you know what? I WANT THAT. I'm willing to put my own reputation on the line for the fact that i believe NiGHTS REALLY ISN'T IN THIS GAME. I'd rather have a bunch of net-tards laugh at me than turn on ASR and not have any NiGHTS in it.

Guys, if NiGHTS turns up, it's because of us.

And -that- is worth fighting for.

Yeah! XD It's not about getting people to all agree with you, it's spreading the awareness and getting people talking that's the key!

I mean the MORE people who say 'DONT BE STUPID OF COURSE NiGHTS IS IN BECAUSE SEGA WOULD BE STUPID NOT TO' are essentialy helping too, despite the fact they don't realise it. I've managed to get some of the people at the Sonic Stadium Message Board to support us too. I feel we're making good ground cover with this campaign, people. Great work all around.

All it boils down to now is if SEGA are going to listen up and get NiGHTS sorted out for DLC.

I also want to point out a few funny facts about all this:

1) We wouldn't be at this point if Sega took the safe approach and announced NiGHTS right after the Sumo-Digital mass-mailing. Sumo handled it like pros, but if Sega should have drawn one thing out of that it should have been to announce NiGHTS so the fans didn't have more fuel put on their fire over time IF HE WERE IN THE GAME. Drawing some conclusions, I don't think Sega would be holding out this long just to make a Christmas announcement in order to stick with a pre-planned PR campaign were he in the game. Call me crazy, but if I were someone in-charge and saw this kind of fan-response for delaying to announce one of the characters already planned, I'd change my approach. If you want to go with likelihoods, then it is much more logically-likely that Sega would please the bigger groups of fans first to get more pre-orders. Though Sega has done some crazy approaches to releases before such as the Saturn's early release and whatnot, they should have learned by now to not shoot themselves in the foot that way.
2) Sega has mentioned that even if a character is not-playable, many characters will still make cameos. So it's possible that NiGHTS is featured as a non-playable character, or that the NiGHTS universe is in there somewhere. The logic behind keeping "the flying purple Sonic" as non-playable, which might explain why NiGHTS may have not been announced, is beyond me. Especially knowing that Sega-fans have a stigma for being rabid and crazy, why tempt fate with something that would get a section of hardcore fans especially a bit upset.

I know a lot of this seems obvious to us, but it also should be pretty obvious to those-in-charge as well. Sorry for my rambling, but I figured I should get it out while I remembered it.

I just noticed the hours. It's the end of the first working day here in the UK meaning chances are SEGA Europe is finishing up for the day and we've had no response as of now. I'm expecting the same kinda thing to happen for the remainder of the week before we're supposed to 'quieten down and forget we were running a campaign'. That's what they tend to do with the Shenmue crowd, it seems. I wouldn't be surprised if they couldn't be bothered to deal with us either.

I don't want to have to up the gear on this campaign so i'm hoping SEGA responds with something positive for us.

And yeah I wouldn't want to have to cause more un-needed drama than is necessary. I want this to be over with as soon as possible and as clean as possible. All it takes is for SEGA to look at NiGHTS DLC as an option and realise that people ARE going to want and buy it.

That's all i ask for. NiGHTS as a playable character.

As soon as that happens I'll get people to calm down. Though... to be honest i can't imagine all this talk of ASR is doing the game any harm in terms of publicity, or NiGHTS.

I know that NiGHTS is in this...I really do. I know I sound like I'm just repeating myself in this topic, but I am EXTREMELY sure he's in this game. SEGA wouldn't forget one of its top characters. I just know, all right? I have a nack of always being right with my hunches. For instance, long before Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days came out, I always thought there would be more playable characters, especially Riku. Did anyone believe me? Not at all, they said it was impossible. However, it turned out I was right all along. This time, I have an even stonger belief that NiGHTS will be in this game than KH. Please, don't give up hope. Just because an extremely popular character such as NiGHTS isn't mentioned yet doesn't mean he's not in this game. Please, believe me!

We're not giving up hope and that's the issue here. If we gave up hope we wouldn't care if NiGHTS was in or not. We're fighting for him to be IN the game because right now it looks like the chances are very slim.

Sorry if I went a bit too far there, and I want NiGHTS in this game as much as you guys do. Just don't hate me for having a strong belief he's appearing. I'm here to help bring NiGHTS in as well. I can leave if you want if I'm not needed. I'm just trying my best to increase people's faith in NiGHTS inclusion. If he's not in it, well, I guess DLC is an option. But why wouldn't SEGA inclued him? It just doesn't seem right...I'll lose a lot of faith in SEGA if this doesn't happen. NiGHTS is one of the characters I REALLY want to play as in this game. Again, I'm sorry if I made anyone feel bad.

A lot of people are just on edge about it, Mighty. Sorry if I'm speaking out-of-place here, but DiGi and TRiPPY just work very very hard to keep NiGHTS alive, and this fanbase does a lot of work as well. I'm sure you didn't do anything intentionally in terms of being hopeful, and honestly I wish I had that kind of hope, because you're still on our side regardless of whether you believe NiGHTS is in it or not. I'd say definitely don't leave, and considering you're one of those that Sega seems to have left behind in the past, having you with us is more than just a strength in numbers: it's a comfort to know that even more underdog characters still have their fans. Just for the moment, any "he's already in there" talk may have more negative of an impact at the moment than it would normally.
