So, how was your wisdom tooth extraction experience?

One of my good friends from college kept hers and was inspired to start collecting other peoples. I managed to get my younger brother's and was going to give them to her but decided they were so cool I should hold onto them for myself.
As for my own wisdom teeth, even though I'm 23, they are not really doing anything. The last time I went to the dentist (a bit over a year ago) they said they were coming in straight. I kind of ASSUME that they managed to fully come into my jaw by now -- at least on one side which feels like it has more teeth than the other. But they aren't causing me problems and I don't have any dental insurance so I'm just planning on letting them sit in my head!
However when I was around 12 or 13 I had to get braces and I still had 8 baby teeth. They removed all of them in two separate procedures so I would only be missing 4 at a time. There was a bit of wackiness involved; once they didn't use as much novocaine as they should have until I told them how much it hurt so I got a second shot... not so awesome. Also I remember thinking that it was really weird to have several teeth missing, a numb face, and a mouth stuffed full of cotton.
Oh, and I loved being given nitrous oxide! I'm not a drug-type person but I think I would like to own a tank of N2O.

Don't worry. I'm sure they won't just put you on the bed and start stabbing your gums. That's illegal I would think.Mine are growing in all sorts of sideways, apparently, but I've yet to feel any pain from it and my teeth don't feel like they're shifting. The only tooth pain I get is from sinus pressure. So I have no idea what they're doing. I just... Because of the way they're growing, they're gonna hafta dig'em out, seems like. Whiiiich makes me really hope there's N20 involved. Because pain. Ew. I kind of hope they just disintegrate.
<ghostly moans> They will. THEEEEEEEEEEEYYY WIIIIIIIILLLLLLL!!! </ghostly moans>i have 2 almost in on the left side, one halfway through on the right, and the other one's to lazy to even attempt just yet but they've never given me any grief so far, and i hope they never do! D:

But I did have some surgery in my mouth to fix something (I forget exactly what, however) when I was 8. I never sang, but I had crazy visions about swirly whirlpools and preschoolers.

I had all 4 taken out at the same time too, but I don't recall much of anything. I know they gave me a needle and within seconds I was out. Next thing I'm waking up feeling all giddy inside!
Worst part was having a dry socket on one of my teeth. Basically it's like having your nerves completely exposed to food and fluids and it sucks. But once they filled it up the pain went away.
Best part was getting to drink lots of milkshakes!
I never had chipmunk cheeks. Did you??

No, no! I swear I'm not! I was just hallucinating! You have no control over what you see when you're in that state of mind! It's not like that's ALL I saw! Just all I remember cause that's what I told my mom I saw, and I was only 7 or 8!I had a tooth pulled once, but I was zonked out the whole time. The tooth ran down my arm and into a treasure chest in my pocket, but there were no pedophilic hallucenations. Sapphire, are you Mr. Taylor?
UGH!

Anyway, whenever I've only had two surgical procedures done where I was knocked out, one being wisdom teeth. I like to see how long I can fight the anesthesia. I don't remember anything from being out, but when I wake up I'm actually pretty lucid but I have a penchant for nonstop talking.
Apparently being awake for having wisdom teeth removes is gruesome because of all the crunching sounds.

That and I've just always been a nutter. But! Reminds me that I should check with my mother about dentist appointments for my wisdom teeth. Eek, 21 and they haven't even done anything.

They had to dig mine out because of that. It's really not a different experience than any other wisdom teeth-pulling (I don't think). Apparently they dug through the gum, cracked the teeth in half, and extracted them piece by piece.Mine are growing in all sorts of sideways, apparently, but I've yet to feel any pain from it and my teeth don't feel like they're shifting. The only tooth pain I get is from sinus pressure. So I have no idea what they're doing. I just... Because of the way they're growing, they're gonna hafta dig'em out, seems like. Here's my experience:
They stuck the fluids in my arm and put a mask with laughing gas over my nose. I started laughing nervously from the laughing gas, but I was completely out during the operation. I don't even remember when I fell asleep. All I remember is laughing from the gas, and then I one surgeon was trying to wake me up. I was sooo tired. I didn't want to move. "Erika, can you hear me?" I wanted to nod, but it was too much effort, so I just made a "Mhm" noise. "Can you move?" I was only able to slightly twitch my fingers and legs. Then he started talking to me about how they were going to wheel me out to the mini-van, what to do once I got home, possible side effects, etc. I could hear him clearly, and I understood everything he said, but I didn't want to respond. "Come on, look at me. Look at me." He said that a million times trying to get me to open my eyes and keep them open. I couldn't for more than 2 seconds, and this guy was annoying me real bad. All I wanted to do was sleep. And sleep I did, once I got home. I couldn't sleep again until 1 in the morning, and for the next three days I was on a seriously messed-up sleep schedule. The good thing, though, was that I remembered my dreams for once (this was back before I knew about NiGHTS or started remembering my dreams every night). The only other bad effect was the blood.
You see, I fell off my bike in the summer before second grade and smashed my two front teeth on the pavement. One was only chipped, the other came out. The ER people shoved the tooth back in, and it stayed, but it couldn't ever take root again, no matter what the orthodontists did. The tooth eventually died, and apparently it would have randomly crumbled away one day if nothing was done. They removed my wisdom teeth as well as that tooth, for convenience. But that sewn-up wound in the front of my mouth caused me a lot of trouble eating. I could only east mashed potatoes and Pediasures for a week. I couldn't brush my teeth for a while, which, especially considering the blood, gave me very bad breath. And I couldn't laugh, or else that would pull on the stitches and cause...an unpleasant taste. It took about three weeks for that tear in the front to heal enough for me to laugh without worrying. However, the holes where my wisdom teeth were healed pretty quickly because they were so out-of-the-way of my eating and laughing. I would probably have been able to brush and eat more solid foods in only half a week if it had just been those teeth that were pulled. But in the meantime, I had fun with the stitches. The dental stitches dissolve on their own so there's no complicated surgical removal. Which I was grateful for. I pulled out a few loose ones (it reminded me of pulling teeth, especially since I often wiggled them with my tongue), and others came out in my food, or fell into my hand when I felt something free-sliding in there and spit it out.

I'm annoyed because I might have to remove all my piercings and they might close (I got them in the summer, but still). I know my lip piercing must come out but I'm going to try to get the oxygen things in my nose despite my septum ring up there.

It's not really the tooth that hurts. At least that wasn't the case for me. It's the fact that they cause your other teeth to hurt or your gum to feel pain. In my case the tooth was pretty much stabbing my gum and causing great pain. The pain died down after a while but I decided to get all of my wisdom teeth removed because eventually the pain would come back, probably worse than before.D:> nooooooooo! what makes them hurt?
I got to eat a load of vanilla pudding. Man they were good! I don't think I had chipmunk cheeks but my lips felt huge when I touched them.Hahaha...singing Dreams Dreams while you got your wisdom teeth taken out is sweet!

I kept leaking blood out onto my pillow as I slept. The gauze could only do so much.I had all four removed in college. 1 had a cavity and was already bothering me. 2 weren't completely grown in yet. For the rest of the day I was drowsy, I was in pain, and my mouth was bleeding so I had to keep something in there to catch the blood. For a few days I got to take prescribed pain pills and eat mushy foods, and I would drool overnight. I really got screwed.
I remember really wanting to sleep and I got annoyed because my mom kept coming into my room to wake me up so I could take my pills. They had to dig mine out because of that. It's really not a different experience than any other wisdom teeth-pulling (I don't think). Apparently they dug through the gum, cracked the teeth in half, and extracted them piece by piece.
