As a racing gamer who grew up on this game, picked it up with the Saturn launch, bought a Saturn BECAUSE of Daytona, own as many editions of the game as I do Sega consoles, and cried at the lack of Daytona 2 ever seeing a console release, this fills my heart with so much joy. They never forgot about their landmark game, and why fix what isn't broken? HD graphics and you're good to go! It's even going to have the original soundtrack!
God bless you, SEGA. You've given me hope once again.

I don't own Daytona USA but it is one of the best racing games in my book. (My racing game book is not too long, mind you.)

I'm so stoked for this game. I'm probably showing double support, too, by buying both the 360 [because friends] and PS3 [because wheel] versions...
I do wonder, though, if the crew that put together the Nebula Model 2 emulator had some input into this. They couldn't say anything on the subject when asked on the SpekSNK forums, which only makes me wonder if they were contacted at any point to help with development. And now that the Model 3 emulator is picking up speed and compatibility...

This is awesome! I never actually owned the game, but I had a demo of it on the Sega Flash vol. 3 and I loved to play it (albeit not very well...). Very cool to see this come up again, and very very cool to see SEGA still revving up their old games *cough*NiGHTS*cough*.
