Some minor detail that stuck in my brain the entire time after JOD was the concept art/fmv for Helens scene. On the corner is a cafe called Fullmoon Cafe:
but! On the concept art it was called Cafe Algernon:
Unless this is supposed to be a different street, i mean there ARE a lot of cafe's here in London, lol.
But anyway yeah it stuck in my head because it seemed like a pretty unusual word. At first i thought, maybe they changed it because the shop actually exists here or something. Done a bit of googling and there's no Cafe Algernon in London or anywhere. There's an Algernon street in London however. And a place called Algernon in Nebraska.
Also there's a musical called Flowers for Algernon based on this book:
http://wiki.answers...._algernon_about
Also Algernon Blackwood, a writer of supernatural fiction:

Can anyone find anything else? I know it's probably meaningless, but i like my meaning i do XD

Wow, way to notice the tiny details! It's possible there's a meaning there. Maybe Sega's trying to send us a secret message in the concept art. >.>Can anyone find anything else? I know it's probably meaningless, but i like my meaning i do XD
And, I know it's kind of obvious, but on the final version there are a bunch of overpasses. No idea what that would be, though. XD Seriously at a loss there.

According to thinkbabynames(dot) com, The boy's name Algernon \a-lger-non, al-ge-rnon\ is of Old French origin, and its meaning is "wearing a mustache".
Maybe Mr. Taylor had a mustache? O_o /random thought
Edit: Also: http://en.wikipedia....lgernon_(album)
(Caution: Not...completely clean titles.)
From the page: "Incidentally, the lyricist of the album's last song "Hitori Fascism" is folk musician Shigeru Izumiya."
Random tidbit...but you never know. Maybe the folks at Sega listened to the album or...something. O_o I wouldn't know. I'm "barking in the dark" on this.

Being honest, i think you'd be more likely to find a cafe with the name 'Full Moon Cafe' in London rather than a 'Algernon Cafe', so i doubt it's down to copyright issues or the Cafe actually existing.
I think it might be something the artist of the concept art just put there as homage to themself in some shape or form. Concept artists usually do that.
Like, for example, whenever Google is celebrating something and they change their logo for the day/week/etc. Sometimes it's been noticed that a the Tri-Force symbol from Legend of Zelda has appeared in the artwork, the artist probably throwing that in in the image because they're a fan of Zelda.
I think this Algernon is just something the person drawing this piece is connected to. Find out who drew it and we can go from there, lol.

I noticed that too. I just think that they picked the word Algernon cuz it sounds fancy, but changed it to Fullmoon to make it more NiGHTSy.

I assume game developers are total nerds and potentially science fiction fans, so it was probably a nod to the book Flowers For Algernon. I imagine some sort of boss-guy saw it and said "Cafe Algernon is too awkward, how about something that won't confuse kids" or something to that effect.

Hahah, oh wow. It really is a small world eh ?!
I loved looking through all the pre-release concept art before JoD came out. Picking up on the wee things like Helen having a Crystal Castle poster in her bedroom etc.

Flowers for Algernon is a fairly interesting book, but I don't know what it has to do with NiGHTS. The plot is below:
"The Importance of being Earnest," a great Oscar Wilde play, has a character named Algernon.
Like DiGi said, though, it's probably just an in-joke, like how animators put themselves in Disney films all the time.
Spoiler

Yeah, I remember reading it then too. XD That's a possible reason for the cafe name, maybe it's the favorite story of the artist? Or has something to do with the life of someone close to them?

Maybe they want us to find a Cafe named Algernon.

I googled Cafe Algernon and got "The Gormet's Guide to Europe" wirtten by someone named Algernon. Maybe Sega people like online travel guides?
And this just reminds me even more that I have to make scones.

Actually, that ending is just for the short story version. My mom read the full-length book, and she told me thatFlowers for Algernon is a fairly interesting book, but I don't know what it has to do with NiGHTS. The plot is below:
Spoiler

Spoiler
Maybe the name was used at first because of the tragedy associated with it. After all, NiGHTS supposedly dies in the all Cs ending.

That's a good theory. Depressing, but good.
