Gonna change it soon.. probably back to my usual black nothingness unless something neat strikes me along the journey.
Back when my mom and I used to have to share a computer (which was hell), I used to take screenshots of the desktop, set it as the background, and then hide all the icons so it'd look like they were there -- but un-clickable.

You're a mean, mean person, and therefore have my respect. I need to go do that to someone now...
Anyways, here's mine. I recently stumbled onto the Gary Busey thread over at Somethingawful.com, and this picture made me laughin for 45 minutes straight. I cleaned up all the folders, there were MANY MANY more but I just threw a lot into the "Music" folder. Riveting tale...

Finally got my Laptop back from the repair shop, so now I can get my Posting hat on

This is my Laptop desktop. I've been cycling this BG and 10 or so others from the same artist for a while, they're from this anime that I can't for the life of me name lol.

Ever heard of M.U.G.E.N.? I can assure you I know for a fact someone has made at least Ronald McD and, I think, The Colonel into characters for it. It's a PAIN to set up, and playing single-player is...well, I haven't won a round yet even on easy, but vs. is a blast and the sheer amount of characters people make for it STILL is amazing. I swear one version I found had over 1000 selectable characters or something crazy like that. Sorry, didn't mean to get off-topic.

And I have this.

Yes, that is a moon Recycling Bin. It's part of the NiGHTS-themed desktop I downloaded off of an old dead NiGHTS fansite.

Pimping out my new Recycle Bin icon : P I also had to chop up the BG image to fit my screen resolution.

Yes! Finally found the thread again! XD Ok, here's some of the pictures in the folder I used for my slideshow background (I'm on Windows 7 now). I couldn't fit them all in one shot, though I may remove some of them because of the way they're automatically centered and stretched. I apologize for how big the pictures are, but I don't have PowerPoint right now, which is what I usually use to shrink them.

And here's my actual desktop with the usual icons in the NiGHTS theme I had before and one of the backgrounds. I'm actually surprised how good some of the old, low-res NiD art looks on there. Makes me wonder if Windows doesn't automatically compensate for their low resolution somehow.

I think this thread is just gonna turn into a Jof changed his wallpaper thread. Which happens about twice a week : P. Finding wallpapers is kinda a pain in the ass for myself, because my resolution is 2560x1440, which is about a large as a single screen gets. And I'm absolutely anal about image quality and cannot stretch or upscale an image.
However, a double post is needed cause I've finally found a really lovely wallpaper with amazing colours and style, and it's in my native resolution. Rejoice!

I go gaga over "painted" wallpapers. Anything bright and colourful and painted and I'll take it. I've found a lot over the years that I really like, but they're some of the hardest ones to come across. Usually I find them as like.... anime backdrops, before the cels are placed. But searching for anime wallpapers turns up alot of unwanted stuff too lol.
So if anyone has any 2560x1440 anime backdrops, gimme a shout lol. I know it's not gonna happen : P

I'm hopelessly in love with the movie Jackie Brown, so I took the title and a still of the beautiful and talented Pam Grier to make this:

I used to put [56k warning!] on some threads on other forums for the last few years. I think by this point we're at [DSL warning!], [3G warning], and possibly [4Mbps cable warning!] based on how long this page is taking to load!
Mine:

You can make quick, easy, delectably abstract fractal images like this one right now using Apophysis. Sorry Mac users! And huge apologies to the Linux crowd...but you probably know more of what you're doing anyway XD

Anyone mind if I turn back time 15 years?

Yes, that's Windows 95. I was going to post this directly from the computer itself but neither of the web browsers on it could handle the forums. Things look quite different through a lens from over a decade ago...
And by the way, this was just a quick experiment drawn up from my morbid curiosity. Don't think for a minute I'd ever try USING this thing regularly in this day and age. It took me over 10 minutes just to [try to] start replying, and my modern laptop next to me is how I got the addresses of the photos (to manually type in)!
Proof (Sysinfo) and what the forum looks like:
