how many of you have played burning rangers before? it was one of the final saturn games made, and is highly underrated. there's also talk of a wii-sequal but as DiGi has said, dont believe Iizuka! :) what are your views on the game, and if a sequal were to come about, what would you keep from the original?

As far as sequel talks went, it was around the same time NiGHTS JoD was being released and Iizuka said "we'll see" ...meaning they probably won't, lol.

But yeah, i was a fan of the original. I am pretty terrible at playing it though, TRiPPY owns my ass at this game XD

I do love the atmosphere of it though. It captured a certain magic that Sonic Team were really good at conveying back then in those games. I would gladly welcome a new Burning Rangers provided they don't f*** with the formula like how they did with NiGHTS JoD.

Also, this was found earlier today which looks to be a fansite of some kind. Anybody know anything about it or heard anything elsewhere?
BurningRangers.com

If you got your speakers on you'll hear what seems to be the intro to the game only it sounds a lot more different, it sounds updated? Though i could be wrong, i've not played the game in ages.

i myself am pretty crap, although i've got and almost B average for my best times :) that website looks pretty cool, although that's PSU people behind the burning rangers logo is it not? either way, that does indeed sound like a remix of the original "angels with burning hearts." one extra thing i'd like to remain in the game is the mail system. it didn't affect the game itself, but it was a very cool little feature. a question that has troubled my since i started playing it the day it came out (a blatent lie, as everyone is aware :P) is why Chris Parton is number 1 (and a bloody brilliant navigator!) then it skips to Big Landman at number 3, then Lead Pheonix at number 5, then shou and tillis at six and seven. what about 2 and 4? maybe they died or quit or something prior to the game, i dunno :P

I never noticed the number system was missing Rangers 2 and 4 before. That's a good point.

As for that fansite, yes. I do think those character outlines belong to Phantasy Star Universe characters. However a Burning Rangers fanbase would certainly kick things up a notch. It would be nice to actually have other Sonic Team fanbases running along side ours and the Sonic ones. I'd fully welcome a Burnin Rangers fansite, if that's what they're doing. But who knows what they're doing, lol.

-edit-
Yeah, we were going to cosplay as Tillis and Shou. I forgot about that, lol! Oh well, that's like the time i was going to cosplay as Jackle. Another idea fallen through. WE'RE TOO BUSY, TRiPPY!!! T_T

Rangers 2 and 4 have always been a bit of a mystery. One theory is that Chris' father was once the original #1. I remember hearing some mad rumor somewhere YEARS ago that number 4 turned into a bad guy arsonist XD;;
Also there's the possibility that the guy who saved Shou was #2 in the past?

I'm trying to remember the little character profiles but my brain is failing me right now.

I've wanted this game for years but have never played it. It sounds like a really cool concept.

BTW, I think I remember the game was advertised as having voice-based navigation/instructions? Does this mean you actually have to understand what is being said? Because I know Japanese copies sell for about $70 less than the American version. I know enough Japanese to follow if they say "go left" but if it's more like "proceed down the hallway, enter the westward facility, and engage the fire" I would be totally confused.

it's kinda in between that, it's like chris will say "go down the corridor on your left" or sometimes, and i really love her for this (!), she'll go "trust your own judgement" or "hang on a second!" you're the bloody guidance system! if you dont know how the hell am i supposed to know! it only happens occasionally though, for short periods of time, she'll soon be tellin you where to go soon after :P when it does work though, it's really quite helpful, especially in a pickle. it also lets you hear what the other rangers are doing in the place, although i dont think it affects your gameplay

Her advice is useful, but only when it comes to finishing a level. If you're trying to find everyone, you might be better off ignoring it.

This is one of the numourus games I downloaded, having a modes Saturn is awesome.

SPILIT SECOND!! XD

I really like the energy this game gives. As cheesy as the opening song is, i love it because it's just so revved up! A perfect intro song, the animation to go with it worked nicely too.

The more i think about it the more i want a sequel to it, but i'm worried that SEGA would try to make it too serious. I really like the outfits they wear, i wouldn't want that to change but Sonic Team might feel they have to update it.

if they did update it, then maybe shou wouldn't go "chill out!" after nearly dying, but i like that about him! :) i would hope that it would only need better graphics, the designs are good enough as they are (i said that about NiD aswell, and look what happened there...)

well, JoD retained the colour on the characters i think (not the dreamscapes though, compare the grass of pure valley to spring valley) so hopefully burning rangers would keep the colour too! imagine the fire in HD! :)

"Sense a Spilit Second
Treasure the Life
Have Goddess on your wings"

ah, this intro makes perfect sense! :D another thing i like about this game is the soundtrack. to people who have never played it before, it is honestly as atmospheric and brilliantly composed as NiD's. although there's no music during levels bar occasion, the bosses have some really good tunes to them! i myself especially love Argoyle G, although Undulatus and Anemoth still hold places in my heart :D the music also changes throughout the bosses, so the more you hurt them, the more epic it gets. and so the final boss's second phase of music is naturally quite epic!

razer, you shant be disappointed! :D it also has NiD cameos, in the form of Elliot and Claris, who you save from a fiery death and they'll mail you about NiGHTS! :D although i myself cant find the buggers, the game only has 4 levels total, so finding all the people and gettin all the mail from them creates a fair bit of replay value. that and because it's fun! :P

I picked up the two-disc game package for Burning Rangers in Japan during TGS - haven't opened it yet, but hoping to play it soon.
