Well i always normaly ask permission before swiping stuff, but since Youtube ate the Christmas NiGHTS (JP) commercial I am very quick on the uptake to hardcopy save NiGHTS related things before the internet eats them. You know I've been rambling on about the UK NiGHTS commercial for years now, well a very nice person FOUND it for me, well at least the French dubbed version of it, and it's on this website that i CANNOT rip the flash video from nomatter how hard i try. Which is driving me nuts because i dont want to lose this file!!

I too had the NiGHTS UK TV advert on a tape, but it went missing years ago which is a shame as I'd also got the rest of the same campaign. However, as the editor of a Saturn multimedia project I've spent plenty of time looking at Sega's past advertising efforts and managed to find out plenty of information about this commercial. For example, it was created by HHCL Brasserie and televised in September '96 as the first of four in what Sega called the Demonstration series.
Over the next month, Worldwide Soccer '97, Daytona USA Championship Circuit Edition and Fighting Vipers were also featured, each in a 20-second clip with plenty of in-game footage. Of course, they were best remembered for having a Japanese voiceover that mocked how Europeans have to wait longer for games to be released abroad. On top of this, a translation taught players how to execute such tricks as the paraloop in NiGHTS and overhead flick in Worldwide Soccer, though we had a lot of catching up to do in relation with our Japanese counterparts.
At the end of each advert, viewers saw a screen full of fake copyright information that on closer inspection was actually less serious than you'd think, suggesting that you could "wait for a plumber instead" and warning you "not to slip" when running in the rain. Then, multiple text hints would fly across the screen further demonstrating hidden features in the advertised game, with NiGHTS' clip mentioning how your score can massively improve by taking advantage of the A-Life system and hatching Nightopians.
By relaying this information to others, I was finally able to find copies of this entire series of adverts online, though I should emphasise they were taken from a French archive and are therefore fully translated. I have also discovered that the French advert currently on your site was actually a dubbed version of the US spot made for Canadian audiences, and the proper European French version can be found at the following link:
