*blinks*
Audition tapes end on the 25...?
... *runs off to practice and record*
EDIT: OKAY, before I forget this, and because I would really much rather know in advance... You said that everything would be compiled in a 'choir' sort of thing, right? For those of us who actually ARE in a choir of some sort (I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one, am I?), do you want us to try and focus on a more 'blendable' sound so that way no one person sticks out completely? Or is that a bit of a stretch? *just heard her really crummy recording...*

*skids to a halt into the thread - math papers fly through doorway in wake* Wait, did I read this e-mail and thread opener/first post right!?

For those more versed in vocal theory and practice, feel free to make different takes in either different ranges, or vocal styles, or whatever! The more I have to pick-and choose from, the better the end product. So do what you feel like and send it my way. With how many people should be submitting parts, I'm pretty sure no one person is going to stand out anyway from the group of voices. And yeah, sorry about the deadline, but it's just to make sure that I don't start mixing the tracks and have people still be submitting, AND that I don't get a bajillion different tracks. Lots is great, and I did just say people can do multiple takes, but it does need to stay within a certain realm, hence the deadline. As much as I would want it all, and I won't turn anyone away until the deadline, I just still have to keep a cap things. The track is gonna be HUGE, but it still needs to be manageable.

I should be able to send you the pic this weekend, Stevo. I'm still quite ill, but I do have alot of time on my hands, being sick and all. I should be able to uplaod it to my compy Saturday... I think. If nothing comes up, that is. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it. It's in the "lineart" stage right now... so don't kill me.
Oh, come on now! You just relax and take your time, feel better, no rush! I'm excited to see what you're doing, but my excitement is containable. I got someone else to do some other art as well, a different idea than what you're doing. It's all going to be wonderful, I know it. I'm sorry you're so sick.

I have many cool instrumental remixes I'd love to make.. The problem is they're all in my head, lol.. likelyhood of actually producing them is another matter.. I get impatient with GarageBand, especially when there's a certain instrument I want to use but the program doesn't include it.
I know exactly what you mean. Like this remix I want to do of Gate of Your Dreams. If I actually get around to really playing it, it'll be awesome.

Hey, am I understanding this right? We need to sing the chorus twice? Is that, in time with the song exactly with the gap in between for the main part, or two separate files for that... I'm losted. >_>
Whether or not you do it as two files or one, I'd like at least two run-throughs of the chorus. Gap if you want, cause I can chop and edit the clips on my end. Either way works. As long as it's in key, in tune, and in time with the reference material (meaning it's on beat), you should be all good.
Ninja edit!: SmashQueen - geez, just for BATTERIES!? And yes, practice AND scare people on the bus at the same time. Be a multi-tasker
viperxmms/musashi: patience is definitely key for making anything like this. The internet is full of freeware stuff to assist. DSK synth makes great free VSTi plugins for a lot of different instruments, and there's loads of free soundfonts and plugins on top of that. There was a recently-posted OCReMix off of the FF4 album by my friend Nutritious called "Step into the Light". He made it with a customized free orchestral template. It's for the music-creation software FLStudio, which itself costs money, but if you listen to that mix, you'd swear he couldn't do that with free samples. So don't be afraid to get out there and experiment, and don't forget to have some fun! Garageband is a good start but definitely a tad limiting from what I hear. All musicians suffer from the "hear it in my head but having trouble making it sound like that" at least once, if not constantly.

Er , will breathing make that much difference? Cause if I turn down my mic you can't hear me, but with it up I get breathing across.
I gave DiGi this tip as well: the best thing you could do is buy a pop filter, but the easiest thing is to hold a sock in between you and the mic to prevent plosives and breathing-wind noise (my buddy Harmony gave me that tip). Give it a shot.

Yes, just for batteries. It'd be half an hour but the buses changed schedules and now it goes by a still-being-built Super Wal-Mart. I'm going to scare all sorts of people especially if I decide to test my vocal ranges (I can literally sound like a guy at the right pitch). Happy Halloween California! Imma ridin' your buses and scaring your residents. XP I'm going to be singing all day when getting those batteries. :P Maybe if I'm lucky someone'll go "Oh! That's Dreams Dreams!" Then I can tell that someone about the remix. :3 I can hope, can't I?Ninja edit!: SmashQueen - geez, just for BATTERIES!? And yes, practice AND scare people on the bus at the same time. Oh, and the forum member you know as Kori has become one of the official artists on this project. I asked her to do a specific sketch and, from the rough work she showed me, was invited on to finish that one, and churn out some others. Go you, Kori!
