Having been playing it for quite a few days, one thing is clear. The game is just supreme.

I don't generally play many action games, not a great fan. Heck, I never played any of the Devil May Cry series. In fact the last action game I played for any length of time close to Bayonetta was the Streets of Rage series. XD

There's just so much epic win involved. From using her hair to act as her outfit, a weapon and channel demons to rewarding the player with a poledance, there's just a unique level of over-the-top entertainment, that almost makes you wonder what the makers were thinking of during the creation process.

I'm with DiGi, on the grounds that I want to see a sequel, but it'd be really hard-pressed to keep it on par with the original. But I have a different opinion than Zero regarding the cutscenes...most of them either contain something really funny,
Spoiler
or contains a nice action sequence you're unable to perform yourself. I understand that it feels like some of the action for the player has been removed, but the game has so much action already that I don't think its missed. (Though I have already stated I'm not big into action games, so that probably accounts for it.)

Many people have mentioned it already, but the sheer degree of references in the game is out of this world, despite the fact I don't even recognise most of them. I was informed today that it has a Thundercats reference. Seriously.

I've got quite a lot of the trophies...
Spoiler
...but I still maintain I'm not great at the game. Overcoming the Alfheim portals really help you learn some madskillz, though.

To finish, I already said this on Twitter, but the "Let's Dance Boys" tune is seriously catchy. I can get it lodged in my head for hours at a time, because the tune has so many logical ending points, that I don't remember where the tune actually ends and so it loops back to different portions of the tune and seems to loop infinitely. Not that I'm complaining. :D
Also, the remix of "Fly Me to the Moon" just seems to sound remarkably NiGHTS-y to me. There's definitely some beats in it that remind me of some of the original NiGHTS music.

P.S.
Spoiler

If you read all of Antonio's journals the game makes even more sense. :P

EDIT: I personally don't want a second game.

I'm with Jax. There shouldn't be a sequel. This team of developers is so good at catching lightning the first time with their games that any sequel after fails to live up to it's predecessor. While the franchises are still generally solid, the Devil May Cry and Viewtiful Joe sequels just weren't as good as the first installments.

Viewtiful Joe 2 had a better story than 1 I think...But that's probably only due to it having a chapter select...

Too bad Viewtiful Joe 3 will never be made... ;_;

You know, after letting it sink in a bit, I'm starting to think maybe it's not all because of the nostalgia glasses that I think Devil May Cry was a better game than Bayonetta. Don't get me wrong though, Bayo is no doubt second and is definitely the best stylish action game out right now, but there were some things that mired my enjoyment.

-I didn't like Bayonetta's character until the last few chapters.
-The game is too easy.
-Quick-time events felt shoehorned outside of combat
-Music was meh.
-Too many cut scenes that were long-winded and/or didn't serve much in the way of plot development which led to me having to listen to Balder the berk rant about whatever for 20+ friggin' minutes.
-Crappy story though this isn't too important since the game is very tongue in cheek and self referential. But when it gets serious...please.
-Serious sense of déjà vu. I've played several over the top action games over the last few years and Bayonetta doesn't do anything original at all. Everything is done exceedingly well, but that I've seen it all before made it less of a fresh experience which is what really drives me to play a game obsessively for a while.

I know it may sound like I'm dwelling on the bad, but really I'm just analyzing my thoughts on the game. It's what I do. It really is among the best action games out there and definitely the best when it comes to the stylish action sub-genre. The combat is peerless, the production values are top notch and the art direction is positively mind-blowing. There is very little not to like.

Also, I just want to change one of my earlier statements. If Dante and Bayonetta got in I fight I'd say it could go either way. Besides chances are if they met they'd go at each other in a completely different way...if you know what I mean. It's match made in heaven really. Dante is still a better character though. XD *runs*

Still determined to learn the Lets Dance Boys ending dance.

It's actually not so bad as far as the actual moves. Arm motions aren't to bad and footwork is really simple. The hard part is just going to be it's so damn long.

I'm sure Kinships are probably worse when you don't have witch time and no torture attack sucks, but I always hated Gracious and Glorious because they don't stop moving and I can't do my flashy stuff so much. Also, that juggle sucks.

I wouldn't exactly say blindingly fast, but yeah, that's Golem. He turns into some of Bayonetta's summons. I love the Climax for him. Volleyball!

There is a lot of shiny in the game. You must squee a lot. XD

I hear that it's just hard mode without witch time. But I was wearing an item while playing on hard that made it so witch time doesn't even start. So hard and Non-Stop Infinite Climax felt kibda the same to me. The enemies are more aggressive though. But I'm good at dodging so it doesn't really matter to me. Plus I had that thing that mkes explosions if you do a perfect dodge.

There is still witch time in those parts and witch statues. Those are the only times you can use it besides when the game forces it upon you like during the plane scene when the cargo falls out. When you are fighting you have to rely on you dodging and whatever combos you can do.

Or you can just abuse the Kilgore combo. :P

TONFA bazookas. I still can't get over it. XD

Also, in reply to a few posts above, I'd LIKE another game, but not really cuz it would almost definitely be not as good. Ie, like with the DMC series.

Speaking of which, anyone else LOL at Bayonetta's "Flock off, featherface!"

Kinships are scum to me, its not that they're particularly strong and obliterateful...its just that fighting them always seems to cause such silly mistakes. Like beating one up on the deck and not seeing the grapplers coming- or my personal gripe- failing to land on them entirely. XD

Grace and Glory...(and their counterparts Gracious and Glorious) are so quick and can hit you so rapidly its unreal...though witch time helps with first pair. I describe them as being crosses between wolverine-ish (animal, not x-men....well okay x-men too in combat style, but not enough attitude) type foes and Delsabers, with two shield arms. That's why they must die.
But everyone else I know calls them Sinow's...which makes more sense I guess, given they are red and blue.

I love Golem...its defeat cracks me up every time.

I prefer comedy style games over really serious ones in the most case (there are always exceptions), so it sounds like I'd prefer Bayo over DMC, if I ever played it. XD

Anyway, the Kilgore combo involves Durga on your feet and then switching to Kilgore (on your feet) once you start kicking with Durga after slashing four times with Shuraba.

Rumor Alert: A possible announcement of a Bayonetta 2?

Hey, you liked Bayonetta didn’t you? Of course you did, with its sexy witches, insane action, multifaceted serpents and other epic bosses, what was there not to like? In that case, you might be interested in this little tidbit: In a recent interview for the March issue of Game Informer, Platinum Games director Hideki Kamiya teased what the company might be working on next.

According to Kamiya, “We obviously have love for the work we have created, so I don’t see anything wrong with Bayonetta 2. Personally, I’d like to approach the world of Bayonetta from a different angle, in the form of a spin-off.” Perhaps a game starring Jeanne? Could be cool. Then again maybe the game could star one of those flying baby heads that Bayonetta had to shoot out of the sky. We wouldn’t put it passed those guys.

For more from Kamiya about Bayonetta be sure to check out our Afterwords section in the March issue of the magazine where he answers questions from the fans about Bayonetta's character design, what her name means, and where all that hair came from.

Anyone else excited over the possibility of a sequel for this game? Would you want a spinoff, or would you rather see Bayonetta return to the limelight?

I'd rather have a spin off, to expand the world and give the developers more room for creativity. Maybe after, a 'real' Bayo two, after the developers have more time to gather ammunition.

Been spamming the smash benches/jump on train routine over and over again for two hours last night. All the while listening to sexy Rap & RnB. Goes hand in hand when running around smashing sh!t up as Bayo, lol. XD

I made around 800'000 halos just from doing that over and over again. Becomes tiresome but you end up going into a trance anyway and before you know it - bam! you're a millionaire! XD

Well...It depends on your skill. If you can keep a combo you'll get atleast 2 million halos in one go.

The strategy:

Equip Lightning Durga on hands (rotate the control pad and press the kick button to change it if they are fire). As soon as the battle starts just jump up and start spamming punches and do NOTHING but that. You must also have that one accessory that makes you go into witch time when you get hit on also.

Just spam the punches until the bosses hands are gone and then you land on the body, if you have memorized where the bosses orbs are on it's body just run to them in panther mode and start wailing until it breaks, rinse and repeat until all the orbs are gone and you can attack it's head. Then go wild until you beat.

Do not worry about dodging at all, if fact, don't dodge because you want to get hit so witch time is activated. You can even heal yourself if you get low on health.

I did this until I could get everything i needed for the Kilgore method which nets you 6 million+ halos each time.
