Dream Recall

Dream Recall for me is sometimes easy, and like this morning, hard as heck. One method I use is when I wake up, I don't open my eyes and I lie there until I can recall as much of the dream as possible and immediately write it down in my journal before I forget again. But sometimes that doesn't work because I just can't remember, or I just don't have enough time in the morning (cause I'm still in school XD).
So I'd like to know: What's your method of Dream Recall? And what methods would you recommend?

I usually try and go through as much of the dream as possible before I'm fully awake and then make sure I tell someone, either on IM or irl. That method can of course be difficult if you're short on time, but it seems to work for me at least. Another trick I use is to try and remember the storyline first, rather than the details. I find that I remember more that way, and that the details fill themselves in after a while.
Writing it down as soon as I wake up doesn't really work for me, but I guess that's individual..

Writing down as soon as I wake up usually works... the only downside is that it takes time, sometimes as much as half an hour since I tend to fill in as much details as possible ^^; Nowadays I don't write down dreams directly, mostly because 1. lack of time or 2. I'm too tired when I wake up and/or I start thinking about other things.

I just used to kind of..remember. Except, that method seems to be not working so good as of late (I blame school) so I might have to try some of this stuff.>.< I do write particularly vivid dreams down whenever I have them though.

I tried doing your method today Icachan when I woke up from a nap this afternoon, but my mind was confusing reality with my dream and I lost everything XD;

I hope you don't mind me adding to the list.
Usually I try not to rush when getting up, that usually causes me to forget what I was dreaming. I review what just happened in my dream little by little otherwise I may forget something if I rush the thought. (My dreams excite me some times. XD)
When I do tend to forget some or all of it I tend to think about it throughout the day which usually allows me to remember more of the dream.
When I review it for the last time I then right it down in my dream journal.
I suppose this might not work for everyone but this is the method I use.

I seem to fail at dream recall : / about 12 hours after I wake up im like...WHOA! I KNEW IT WAS THAT!

I don't perticularly have a method. I sort of wish I did. I'll wake up not remebering a thing and it'll bug me all day. If I don't remeber everything at once I take a shower and see if anything comes to mind. If I don't remeber after that then I decied usually not to worry about it and that I more than likely won't ever remeber it. Though sometimes I will randomly see something and go "OH! THAT WAS IN MY DREAM" so it all depends I guess.

For me, writing down some simple notes or something will help me remember the rest of the details so I can write it down later. Like Missy, though, sometimes I have to think about it over time to really remember it better.
Usually, I can't write things like dreams fast enough, so I try to use a computer if I can. Helps me get everything writtten much faster.

I sometimes get really excited about my dreams too Miss Rae (which miiight explain me not remembering today's dream from my nap XD) But usually if I forget it, I have a sense of de ja vu like T.K. and Ninja Liz-Chan

I wake up and don't even move, I just keep my eyes closed and sit there for about a half hour (lack of responsibility ftw) and try to remember them. Sometimes if I don't remember anything I'll start to get up and tht usually helps, but if it doesn't I just roll over and try again for about 10 minutes. If that doesn't work there's nothing I can do, but generally I can remember 2-4 dreams a night doing this and it's only getting better. Every five minutes or so I'll do a quick run-down of everything I've remembered so far to stop myself from forgetting it.
About 5-10 minutes in I'll start thinking about random stuff like colors, dream signs, and that feeling I get when I realize I'm in a dream and that'll help sometimes too.
Then of course I write it down. Typing preferred, I'm faster that way.

I usually try to remember what happened while I'm getting ready in the morning, and if I have time I might write it down somewhere. (Seems like everyone writes them down, huh? Maybe I should do that more often than I do. ^^; )
I can't really recall a lot of my dreams, though. I don't know if I just don't dream much or if they just weren't vivid enough for me to remember... although I swear, I have these dreams sometimes and I could swear I've been in the same place in another dream. o.o;

As soon as I feel myself awake, I hug my pillow close to my body and slowly try and go through my dream over and over again until it sticks inside my head. Sometimes, pieces fall away, but the majority of the dream will usually remain.

I don't remember any of my dreams for the past two weeks or so. If I DO remember i'll probably forget. I'll try to use the dream diary function more often

Really keeping a dream journal is the way to go. The thing is, as far as my mind works anyways, when you just be starting out you don't need to write alot. Just write it down. Things'll be fuzzy at first, but if you stick with the journal, you'll find your recall getting better and better. Hell, I went from maybe one or, if I was lucky, two sentences to two-three pages by the end of maybe the second month.

I would have to suggest a dream journal and keep it close to you every night. Write either a quick paragraph or a page of a simple summary of what you remember from the dream as soon as you wake up so you don't lose it later. What ever you do, don't go back to sleep until you have written the dream down, lazily just turning over will make you forget the dream. I hope this helps.

I envy you. I don't know how long it's been since I've remembered a night-time dream at all. Several years, at leastI don't remember any of my dreams for the past two weeks or so. If I DO remember i'll probably forget. I'll try to use the dream diary function more often

I absolutely stink at dream recall! Some mornings I have unparalleled recall, but in some mornings I cannot remember a single thing. Arghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok this is going to sound really weird but my Mom and Dad says it worked for them.
If you lay in bed and say "wooooooooooo" three times then you reall remember your dreams. You have to be relaxed and exhale while you do it. It is supposed to clear your mind. Yeah it sounds dumb but they said it worked. I haven't tried it yet. I don't know if I want to remeber my dreams because they hurt me sometimes. Also you don't have to say it very loud either.

That usually helps Writing it down is good, too. *lol* my handwriting is bad at 3am in the morning XD Also, writing down is a lot more entertaining later if you DO forget the dream. When I kept a dream diary I was like 'huh? I TOTALLY DONT REMEMBER WRITING THAT, LET ALONE DREAMING IT O_o'

Yeah thats me sometimes lol.
Unfortunetly I can usually remember so much when I wake, I just forget to recored it >_<
My current dream journal is a Hello Kitty booklet that came with Happy Meals, I took a couple when I was on shift. Muahaha lol.
