Hello there, Jeez haven't been here for a while. A college student life is very busy anyway I thought I show off some of photoshop work I did this year in college. These were made in photoshop CS3 or 4 I forget the first one is to make a surealist painting of an object I chose the ps2 console and stuck on the head of a robot. The second one was a 3 panel piece to described a song I chose "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" By Daftpunk I did like a battle robot or something. I know that these Are simplistic I'm still learning to create detail on photo shop but give me your thoughts.

First, do you own a drawing tablet? A tablet is a must if you plan to draw in the computer a lot. Wacom is the top brand, the site Newegg tends to have decent prices. Search around. I see in these pics it looks like you're relying on PS shape tools and textures, it'll go a long way to free yourself up from those things alone.

I do own a bamboo tablet from wachom and i used the pen tool a lot because I had 2 classes that made us use adobe illustrator a lot and I liked using it. The reason why is my freeform drawing skills and texturing aren't that good and I struggle from time to time with it. I will be taking classes this fall but thanks for the input

Oh ok, cool. I get frustrated easily with Illustrator, lol. (to me it's almost more of a 2D sculpting program than a drawing program.)

The basis for improving your basic drawing skills is doing observational work; things like figure drawing and still life. Being good at Photoshop is a whole other matter.

I believe I've heard of that site too.. Photoshop always has like a million and one ways of doing anything. I ain't no master at PS by any means, but if you have any questions about anything in particular, I'll try my best to help if I can.

How did you do the second one? It looks like German Expressionism meets Soviet propaganda, but in a good way.

I made a new 8.5x11 photoshop file went with idea of a machine gun, black sword, and robotic eyes put them in a 3 panels and went nuts. Listen to the song Harder, better, faster, srtonger by daft punk or look for the video daft hands and you see my reasoning

As a hardcore Daft Punk fan I have to say there is nothing about that second picture that feels like "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger".

Also, the first image seems very plain for a surrealist work. Viper has some good advice and it's nice to hear you plan on taking classes because you have room for improvement.

Heh what can you do about it the second one I was able to make something and I'm still a rookie at photoshop. The first one I didn't have a whole lot of time to work because I had other project so I tried my best at it with the time that I had.
