It's a bit early, but I felt I should announce this now that I've begun seriously working on it and I am sure that it is going to happen.

On the weekend of June 5-7, a friend and I will be cosplaying as JoD NiGHTS and Reala at ColossalCon in Ohio. X3 And I get to be Reala ^^; (By my own choice, though. I just love to torture myself. XD)

My friend has actually cosplayed NiGHTS before, though she had to put her costume together rather quickly at the last minute, so this time she's hoping to re-do it a bit more accurately.

With her permission, I'll be posting her progress here as well, though she hasn't actually gotten started yet. She's only just gotten her purple bodysuit, so she can begin to match other fabrics to it. Because color makes all the difference in a costume! XD

However, with my awesome mother's help, I've gotten a head start on mine, since I can only work on it during college breaks when I'm home, and because...well it's freakin' JoD Reala!! XD My mother is doing the sewing, and I do all the designs, and help with patterns and stuff.

Keep in mind, none of us are professionals or very skilled when it comes to costume making, so it's not going to be the best in the world. ^^; This will actually be my first real cosplay (aside from Halloween costumes and stuff.) ^^;

Right now I'm looking for ideas on how to attempt that darned giant chest-gem-bling (that won't be, like, crazy-expensive and impossible to do). It's hard when there's a distinct lack of other JoD Reala cosplayers to steal ideas from. XD

I'm working on it some more this weekend, but I probably won't make any significant progress until May, unfortunately. =(

Best of luck to you! Cosplaying NiGHTS characters isn't easy... I've made NiGHTS myself, and scrapped together a Wizeman and a Jackle.

Good luck with that. I'm working on JoD NiGHTS for a June convention too. The stupid chest Ideya is confusing me too, along with NiGHTS cuffs. (sigh) lol

Awesome hat(horns?) for Reala. Can't wait to see more of your progress. :3

NiGHTS character cosplays are indeed highly difficult...but at least it's an interesting challenge. There's always lots of little issues to work out. My NiGHTS is planning on trying to make her chest-diamond thing out of paper mache and painting it, but we'll see how that goes. XD My Reala hat was actually made using a pattern she designed, but my mom and I still had to make about three other junk test hats before the final one. XD Always buy lots of extra fabric!

It's not long enough to go all the way around my neck yet (and still retain its ruffly-ness), and I need to attach it to a choker-thing somehow, to get the "top loops" to stay up, but I'm happy with the way it's turning out now. X3 ...Then I have the feathers to contend with. ^^;

And yeah, evil hats need their own evil patterns. I have to make two this summer for NiD Reala and JoD Reala. >.>;

It's a thick wired ribbon with a tube of fabric sewn over it and then bent into loops. ^^ I'm glad I randomly had this idea, because I can't think of any other ways to do it. XD

My gosh, two hats?! Just making one is hard enough. XD

I just need to say that I wholeheartedly approve all NiGHTS-based cosplays.
And the current completed Reala pieces look pretty awesome.

Thanks Nemoide. I'm trying really hard to make this costume as great as possible and promote the hell out of NiGHTS. ^ ^

Great work! I'm planning on doing a Reala cosplay this summer too.

For the armor I was going to use craft foam and spray paint it. As for the chest gem, a round clear ornament holder might work. It's hard to describe, but it's clear and opens into two pieces (half circles). I bought a few from Hobby Lobby for another project that dealt with large round jewels. I painted one with acrylics and put the other half over it to make it look more 3D and shinier.

Are you planning on painting your face? I'm planning on getting Kryolan brand because it's theater make up and I've used the brand before for cosplay. The stuff stays in place and won't smear off easily.

Thanks for the suggestions. I wish I had thought of the ornament-half. My necklace/chest-gem is already done, and it's just a wooden circle thing, which is much too flat. Ah, well. I just have regular old face paint, and I'll probably have to re-apply it twenty times, but I plan on carrying it around with me anyway. ^^; I'm happy that someone else will be doing the JoD design too. The world needs more Jod Reala cosplays! Craft foam is invaluable for armor--almost my entire costume is foam. ^^;

As everyone can probably tell, it's only a few days to the con, so both my partner and I are cramming on getting everything done (that's why I haven't had any time to do periodic updates). Everything's done on mine except the boots, though. They're just a pain in the butt, and I'll probably have to make ten thousand repairs on them

I'll be back after June 8, with lots of pictures of us! ^^

I apologize for the double-post, but... I have returned with PICTURES! =D I'm just going to link to my whole album, because there are so many. And these are just MY pictures. I've still got to organize all the other pictures from LilStarcon and her friend and my mom's boyfriend, and get the best ones submitted. We took a TON. XD

So I was Reala, and my good friend, LilStarcon, was NiGHTS. She didn't have the time to do a collar, and I just didn't feel like doing the ribbons under my knees, but I'm really proud of how the costumes came out, because we worked hard on them.

It was an awesome experience. I got tackle-hugged and kidnapped, confused the heck out of people, and sprinkled sparkles all around some girls with free hugs signs. XD And at least four people complimented LilStarcon on her accent. X3 She was just so bright and cheery and NiGHTS-y, and we had so much fun just going at it back and forth in character. And best of all we had lots of pictures taken and spread NiGHTS all around the con. X3 I was so happy, because I definitely didn't expect anyone to know who we were at all, and then at least two or three people were somewhat familiar with NiGHTS.

SOMEONE WITH AN ACCOUNT HERE WAS THERE! WHO WAS IT? IDENTIFY YOURSELF! XD I'm sad I didn't get to meet you guys while I was in my costume, and I didn't have my mask and makeup on Thursday, but at least I convinced LilStarcon to wear our hats to the dance on Saturday night. Well, my costume was just a bit more uncomfortable than hers. XD

I'm working on putting the rest of the pictures together and picking the best ones now! X3

I've just gotten the pics that LilStarcon's friend took of all the cool poses we did outside the convention center. It's been hard trying to get all the pictures together, since I've had to juggle between two computers and five folders. I'll be organizing them all into the final submission folder tonight, and perhaps putting a few more up in the process. ^.~
