Okay, I hate youtube. It's going to make me even more of an insomniac. Got the video of the livestream, converted it, split it into three nice little videos under 80 MB and under 10 minutes each, rendered them like any other video (like Will's Dad's version of "Dreams Dreams"), I wait all day - literally - going through a few hiccups, and when I finally think the waiting's done and the timer reaches zero...I get "Error."

Well guess what?! Cluck you, youtube! Cluck you! I'm sick of your LIIIIIIESSSSSSS!!

..... ;_; Now what'll I do? NiGHTS needs help...

(Censor-D) it. If it's the last thing I do before getting a degree in journalism, it's going to be spreading the news of NiGHTS. *sigh* I'll think of something. I guess...

* Can't draw NiGHTS (It would come out...weird)
* Don't have a printer
* Low on funds
* My weapon is literacy
* No costume
* No cardboard to be a "walking billboard"

However... Nah. It's unethical. It's not right even though I have the game itself...

*is interrupted for half an hour*

Well, I have some things to do tomorrow. If it works and e-Bay is nice, I'll have enough moolah for a decent Christmas. :) Tally-ho Pipsqueak! (Cookie if you can guess what I'm up to. X3)

For most of this week I've had really bad sleep. It started Sunday night/Monday morning. I went to bed at 11:30 pm, an hour past my normal bedtime. That was my fault. But then I woke up at 1:20 am (with thoughts of the Don't Forget NiGHTS campaign in my head) and couldn't get back to sleep. That was not my fault. Every time I started to feel myself sinking into sleep, I got an irritating and strong itch that, even with the numbness from sleep paralysis creeping in, I could not ignore. So I had to scratch. And, viola, as soon as I moved I would be fully awake again. :lol: This happened at 3:30 am the next day, and then 5:00 am the day after that. Although it made me miserable, this lack of sleep allowed me to notice something I hadn't ever noticed before. When I turned out the lights, the ceiling fan's lightbulb wasn't the only thing creepily glowing in the dark. There was something over at the top of my bookshelf. Two little spots close enough together to assume they were from the same object. 'What do I have there?' I thought. 'My Transformers toys. It's probably my Bumblebee bobble-head. The eyes or something.' The first couple of NiGHTS that I noticed it, I was too tired to investigate further, but the third one, I was lying awake in my bed and thought 'Well, heck, just go see what it is. It's not like you're going to be sleeping anytime soon.' So I got up, went over and touched it without turning the lights on, and I could tell just by the feel of the object that it was the little Armada Megatron Burger King toy that I'd dug up from my brother's chest last month. I had wondered why his hands were such a weird shade of purple. :) Megs has glowy hands.

I'm possibly obsessed with creating a Zombies Ate My Neighbors outline. Once in a while I'll open the file and outline the levels. All 55 of them, even if some aren't used. I take into account the stage layout, the monsters, the items, the neighbors/survivors, and what the plot at that point is. I also make sure to count everything that matters so that means I have to check each level for things like Skeleton Keys, see how many Chainsaw Maniacs there are, take a head count of the bloody Cheerleaders, etc.

I've even gone into giving Zeke and Julie personalities. Zeke's the skateboarder who's obsessed with video games and knows about certain subjects like what items have been recalled. Julie, the preacher's daughter, likes to ride her bike and knows a thing or two about chemicals. Both enjoy horror movies, Zeke moreso than Julie.

I'm not taking the thing seriously, so there are intermissions outside the game so the plot can evolve or whatever. >> As well, considering the fact the game is like a B-rated horror movie, I believe...well, what would you do if everything turned upside-down one day like in ZAMN?

"Oh come on!"
"Just shoot it!"
"Why are they coming after us?!"
"Why does soda kill zombies?"
"Hey, hey! It's me!"
"Will you stop making video game references?"
"Hey Jason Vorheez! Over here!"
"Zeke you don't know where-"
"They're supposed to be dead!"
"Toxic waste barrels?"
"Sure, why not? I stopped questioning things after the dungeon."
"Maybe that scientist is behind all this?"
"Really? I couldn't guess."
"A-Astounding! That was a Pandora's Box-effect!"
"Why isn't the government doing anything?"
"Stop naming your weapons, Zeke."

....Yeah. Just a bunch of craziness I'm taking my sweet time with. And what of the bonus levels, ten victim limit, and extra items? Well that just depends on what Zeke and Julie do. Quite frankly, I've also thought on on "returning survivors," "stubborn survivors," "oblivious survivors," and the like.

...Am I too obsessed with this? O_o Last I checked I was at Level 29...and failing horribly to connect the random jumps in locations. :) (Well, almost horribly.)

Word of advice: While in any dungeons dealing with Shadow, don't use Din's Fire on the ReDead. You'll end up like my mother did: Link caught in the grasp of a ReDead on fire and not being able to escape until a certain something intervenes. X3

This campaign has reminded me of Roy from Super Smash Bros. Melee. Back before I had an Internet connection, I expected our boy Roy to appear in Brawl. I liked Roy. He was my second best in Melee and enjoyed kicking butt with him.

I was sorely mistaken. Marth and Ike, but no Roy. Needless to say I go after Marth and Ike in a rage whenever I'm against them...in a strategic way.

BRING BACK ROY!

In other news, I'm planning on playing Tomba! 2: The Evil Swine Return again. I love that game. :P I just wonder where Zippo and Tabby come from. O_o

And now, "Random Lyrics" to...'Suburban Museum'!
---
I met a strange purple jester trapped inside a strange gazebo
And he said that he wanted to be free, so
We joined hands and flew throughout
The land I found and around a museum

There is something lingering
I can smell it here in the air
---

I will finish this song! ...One day. :)

Going insane! The old 1997 Tomba! disc I have...well, whenever I select "Load Data," the game goes to a black screen and nothing else happens. Tomba! 2 is alright - the Load Data thing works, but I'm not even getting a loading screen like I used to for part 1. And it used to work just fine on the PS2!

Trying to find a way to fix it 'cause darned it I saved earlier today and I want to help Baron! T_T If nothing else, I'll have to save up for a new one... Yes, I could emulate, but that takes the fun out of it. That and I don't know how to emulate PS1 games at all...

*goes back to tinkering with PS2*

Edit: Okaaaaay. Anybody know how to clean an old PS1 disc? Please?

#1 q-tip with a little water on it. Rub the ps2 lens with the moist side, then dry it with the dry side.
#2 ever try the toothpaste trick to fix a scratched disc?
#3 all else fails, there's a good emulator online call pSX or ePSXe. confusing to set up but could very well solve your problem
I'll have to give Tomba a go at some point.

Random thought: so an HD remake of one of my fav old school FPSes, Serious Sam, came out today. I had absolutely no idea they were doing this. I was so excited I tripped over my trashcan running out of my cubicle to go home.

How I learned to properly clean a disc: Take a wet tissue and rub the disc from the INNER hole OUT towards the edge. I don't know but I've heard from multiple sources that discs should always be cleaned in this direction. Dry with another tissue in the same direction.

If that doesn't work, call up a local video store and ask if they resurface discs. I know by me there's a gaming store that will do it too.
Basically they buff off a layer of plastic and any scratches will be reduced/removed.

If that doesn't work you will probably have to buy a new copy of the game.

Okay, Q-tips didn't work, cleaning didn't work (although it does load a little faster now), and the smudges didn't budge.

Looks like I'll have to get it resurfaced... But i don't have the money to do that. :/ I'm broke and want to play Tomba one. At least Tomba 2's alright... *blink* I don't know places that'll do resurfacing. The only game places in the city are GameStops. Combine that with a Toys R Us and places like Wal-Mart, Costco, and Target and you've got all the places that deal in video games.

Edit: Well, except video rental stores of course.

Try those rental stores!

My parents live in a fairly small town and an independently-run video rental place still offered resurfacing. I don't know if Blockbuster offer the service or not but it's worth calling and finding out, I would assume that they would do it. They shouldn't be charging much for it, a couple dollars tops. The video game store by me will do it for free.

*ehem*

The toothpaste method: http://www.metacafe....ith_toothpaste/

Make sure to use plain-ol'-white toothpaste and NOT the kind that have the advertisement of including baking soda. Follow exactly what that video shows and I'm fairly certain that, if the disc is having read errors based on surface anomalies, you should be okay. The reason this works is because the toothpaste actually removes a very small later of the plastic and has erodes the plastic back to an even surface through the friction of the towel and the toothpaste rubbing. Think of how sandpaper is used to get wood to a smooth even finish, and that's basically what you'll be doing to your disc. Just make sure to get every last bit of toothpaste off as any leftovers obscure the optical laser and will cause issues. Good luck!

They charge exorbitant prices for resurfacing discs, which costs the companies a few pennies to do per disc. Hope this works and saves you a bit of cash.

@ Nemoide - Well it's too late to try calling right now. Besides, I'll need some cash for the city bus along with whatever it costs to resurface the game. Thanks for the advice.

@ Level 99 - Couldn't find any plain white toothpaste. :/ Thanks for the tips though. At least the games load a little faster(like by 3 or 4 seconds). That's always a plus. ^^

I'll just go back to Tomba! 2 for now. Also took a look at what was needed for PS emulation. Free, but a pain in the rear to setup. I'll try to figure out what to do about Tomba! one later. I really hate the technical problems that pile up, but at least this one has a pretty clear answer. Thanks you two. :(

Actually, I just remembered: I haven't been looking forward to Christmas like I always am. There isn't even a present on my mind either for someone or what I'd like to get myself. *blink* Guess frivolous material gifts don't matter much anymore. ...Maybe I can get Tomba! resurfaced this December either by a store or toothpaste? (I realize I need to be happier, I want to be happier, but currently that's a bit easier said than done.)

*facepalm* Turns out the problem with the Tomba disc isn't just me. Turns out it's the PS2 which has problems with certain games, Tomba being one of them. Either I spring for an old PS2, get a PS1 console, or gamble with a new PS2 Slim altogether. Dang internal problem... If I don't want to spend money (ha, I don't even have an e-Bay account or credit card), then I'll have to use an emulator, and I'm not too joyful on that prospect. But it's...Tomba. o_o

Also, the original Tomba is hard to come by. ...I ain't letting my copy go.

And for those interested "Project Reaper's" first chapter came to me before doozing off last night. :( It's what I've been wanting to kick things off with. Just a little tweaking needed...probably come back to it later to tweak it even more. X3 It's weird, I managed to get some humor in there... o_o Unintentional, but it ties things together. Blah, need to change the official title. +5 seconds later+ Done.
