Well simply, if you haven't played this game, it's worth it. It's a very dark and twisted take on the original Alice in Wonderland, and the only other game I've seen besides NiGHTS that's been considered such a cult classic. Though if you're easily disturbed or hate blood or anything, it's not your kind of game. You may remember back in ***the NEW millenium!!*** when there was this statue of a really pissed-off girl holding a knife in quite a few game and computer stores. That would be Alice. Any American McGee people around here? I feel a tad strange as I don't know many people who can both enjoy the frilly, sparkly, happy world of NiGHTS and then turn around and enjoy something as disgustingly morbid as Alice...

I feel that Alice is the sort of game that managed to seep into public consciousness more than any other games of the time.
I dig the aesthetics.

Even though I don't have a particularly high opinion of American McGee, It would be loathe of me to say Alice was anything but brilliant. So demented, so macabre, so great.

I actually learned the other day one reason why Alice stuff is so valuable. In fact, it's the ONLY game I've seen where the normal version has actually gone up in value over the years. It turns out EA gave a faulty report about the sales of the game, saying it sold very poorly, but American McGee himself said that the game sold well over a million copies, and planned to continue working with Rogue Entertainment, who developed the game. However due to the poor reports, Rogue entertainment was forced to shut down, much to McGee's anger. Since then he's done other games, but they really just don't feel the same at all. Oz got cancelled, and no one's heard a thing about Grimm. Alice was looked at as him gem and pride and joy, so the value skyrocketed. I can't believe a 24" Cheshire Cat statue, which sold for $65 in 2000, is now worth over $1,500. Crazy.
Another thing I absolutely love about Alice, is like all good games it tells the story through gameplay, not movie scenes, as well as the fact that it can be as shallow or as deep as you want it to be.

Pretty old thread, but I felt like I should tell everyone, that a sequel is on the way for pc and consoles.
http://www.destructo...comment-1141287 I never got to play the original, but I'll make sure to buy this one, it's probably going to rock!:3

That is pretty awesome news! I'm surprised I hadn't heard it before. I hope my PC can run it, if not I might have to buy a 360.

I'm guessing Through the Looking Glass is the sequel.

Wouldn't that be a tad redundant, since there were elements from Through the Looking-Glass in Alice?I'm guessing Through the Looking Glass is the sequel.
Anyway, I haven't played the game. I should, since I adore Alice in Wonderland, dark, twisted settings, and video games. I saw an Alice figure in a video store a while back, and it really creeped me out. Should be lovely!
I heard that Marilyn Manson did the music. I'm not terribly fond of his work.

Eh, true. I forgot that the game went through both books' elements.Wouldn't that be a tad redundant, since there were elements from Through the Looking-Glass in Alice?
He did drafts, but Chris Vrenna actually ended up doing the writing and composing.I heard that Marilyn Manson did the music. I'm not terribly fond of his work.
I am wondering how this is gonna come out though. I hope they don't go overtly grimdark on everything, but it would be nice if they made it a little creepier than the 1st game was.
