NiD DS

I think it would be a good idea to port NiGHTS to DS because I have access to a DS and I've never even seen a Saturn personally. Except for my friend Thomas' house, there's probably not a Saturn with 100 miles of me. This could be a good way to have new fans (for the sequal) be able to play the first game that don't have a Saturn (because God knows it's easier to find a DS than a Saturn).
Oh, and I haven't heard anything about this happening, it's just from a discussion I found somewhere.

YES, the original game would be nice on the DS for people, who were sadly unable to play that beautiful original, but bad in the ways of the controls.
When NiGHTS came, out were given a 3-D controller, which made the game a HELLUVAH lot easier. Restricting it to a DS, even with the touch screen, can lead to bad hands cramps and such. :| And would make is UBER hard.

well, i hadn't even thought about controls. but that's because i've never played the game so i don't know what it's like on that controller.
some people might be miffed about graphics too i guess.

A remake of the original NiGHTS, in my opinion, would be much better with controls that are more like the Saturn 3D pad. The Wii's nunchuk controller might work...

Of course, I'd play it even if it was stupidly easy, but I'm not exactly the best gamer out there...

I'm like Misaki-chan in that I'm a lousy gamer and wouldn't mind a simple game. It'd be a nice distraction for bus stops or waiting rooms.
This is me speaking as one who is ignorant of the DS's abilities though.

NiGHTS constantly flies to the...uh...-> That way.
Brain stopped for a sec.
You draw a circle around the enemies you want to paraloop, or draw a line through anything you want to drill dash.
...and then you draw a circle AND a line, and NiGHTS will eat it...and if you're playing as Reala (yeah, that's a choice), then he...well... Dutty Reala.

I mean, it's dual screen, so you could control NiGHTS with the stylus rather than using the D-Pad (or both as a bonus feature). Plus almost everyone and their mom has a DS now, so it'd be easier to buy rather than waiting two years to somehow get your hands on a Nintendo Wii for Journey of Dreams
And I don't think it should be an entirely different story for the game like JoD might be, but the classic game just revamped to meet up to the DS technology (though now that I think about it, that might be really tricky to figure out).
All in all, I think it's a good idea.

And for DS: not a port. It's hard enough going through those tough courses with the big old controller, but with a stylus or d-pad? No. How about a motion sensing game, like Wario Ware? The DS card would have the game, and the GBA game would have the motion sensing. So, when you turn it 90 degrees or so, NiGHTS would turn that way. Kinda like that part in Soft Museum when your shot out of a cannon.
EDIT: The emulator is called SSF. Go find it on google.

As for a whole new game that was geared towards the DS, that would be quite lovely. And easier.
Or, perhaps there would be a NiGHTS DS game that was one of two things:
1) Mini games a la Wario Ware Touched (I love mini game games; they rock, but not all people think so)
2) a raise the nightopian game, like pokemon, or tamagotchi, even Nintendogs. I'm all for raising the monster games. Imagine feeding it via stylus, petting them, or even picking them up. ^^ The thought makes me squee.
I dunno, I'm just making conversation. I love my candy pink ds. ^^

I really hope not. The last thing I want to see on a Nintendo console is another mini-game compilation, especially after that first year the DS was out. There are too many as it is, they have little lasting appeal, and they typically play more like tech demos than games. Warioware and Raving Rabbids are fine, but please, no more. I certainly don't want to see NiGHTS sink so low.

A port might be difficult, however, the DS (original, I dunno off the top of my head if the lite has this) has a lil thumb pad on the strap that is supposed to simulate an analog thumb screw. Now, it doesn't work the best in practice at fist, but mastering it is a small feat.

What about beating them? Is beating them with the stylus an option?

It's small, but you hold it close to your face. I think it would be cool if they included something to help with curving movements like a wi-fi controller or something to place over the control pad.hmm.....i dont know, its a really tiny screen so it might pose difficulties.
