NiGHTS: Ballad Of Dreams Radioplay ---Important note inside

Also, a radioplay is purely audio. It just has the voices, sound fx and background music.
Most of the voice actors are from the Voice Acting Alliance But the part of Helen was played by Nymph here at the forums. So give a big special thanks to her =)

Jeremy Chan and I have discuss this for a while, and after a long talk, we've decided to put NiGHTS: Ballad of Dreams on a hiatus. For various reasons. Other projects, Midterms, SATs, time and energy. Thank you for all of your support, and Ballad of Dreams will return =)
Enjoy~

It was pretty cool. I just want to say that it was a bit hard to hear you at times. Just talk a bit louder. Also for Will's voice, at first it seemed you were going for the British accent but later you didn't use it anymore. I'm not sure if that's what you wanted though so I'm not really looking at that too much. But yeah, just talk louder. Other than that it's not too bad. I like how you put both Elliot and Claris in the same place as Helen and Will. It's like a crossover type of thing but not really. I'm subscribing by the way.

Anyway, I will talk with the NiGHTS voice actor, and I'll tell them what you said. Thank you for your input.
The next episode will be out in January, probably.

But to be honest there are some issues that must be resolved. First is the awkward mixing. Some voices seem to be recorded with decent microphones, others sound like they are from really cheap ones. So some voices have a hum behind them or distant or echo-y. The result makes it difficult to imagine anybody being in the same place as anyone else. The goal should be uniformity. I would say that you either insist every voice actor uses a good microphone (not an unrealistic request) or put some artificial hum/echo behind everyone so that everything is at least uniform in sound (not really a good idea since the final product will sound terrible throughout).
Second and also very important is the very confusing writing. Audio drama must be as unambiguous as possible. Unfortunatly this makes for unnatural monolouges (ie "Hm, well, here I am walking in this strange world... is that ground in the sky? Oh, what is that strange pointy-headed person? It must be one of those 'Nightopians' I've heard tell about"). Also having a narriator would be helpful. I found it incredibly difficult to figure out what was happening in the story, where things were taking place, and which character was which.
Basically I have no idea what happened except that all the protagonists met up and encountered Reala and Jackle? I think?
So more polish is needed for the future. But this is a great concept and I hope you keep working on more! And your voice actors seem quite talented IMO.

UV NiGHTS is TRiPPY's creation, so UV NiGHTS won't be in there.

Yes, NiGHTS' gonna end up telling the dreamers about him, and Reala and Wizeman, so a bunch of things will be wrapped up.
Well, I think this is a super-neato project since I am a fan of audio drama.

Thank you for your input, it really helps =) I'm guessing that Nymph and our Elliot isn't as an experienced as the rest of us, so that will be why thier mics don't sound so well. The rest of us have decent mics, including our Claris who is half-professional.
As far as the script went, I wrote this purely on my knowledge, I didn't explain certain things well and I didn't think (What would a person who doesn't know NiGHTS understand?) Not very much explination and overall understanding of where they were and everything. And we definetly rushed on the mixing. It was my and our Will's first time mixing and we rushed because we finished it in one day, when it should've taken us a week or two. I was procrastinating for about 2 weeks, and we waited for 2 months for one of our voice actors to send in his lines. 2 months after the deadline. So frustrating.
Anyway, thanks so much for your input. I'm producing another project, and your advice is definitly going to help

I used an embedded mic because my headset wouldn't work on my laptop and still isn't . Hopefully I'll figure out the problem soon because I'm getting more involved in voice work.
I'm going to favorite this on my youtube page. I liked it and am looking forward to starting the next episode.

Nymph! You were really good for your first time voice acting =) Awesome work.
And you'll have plenty of time to fix it, episode 2 scripts are gonna be handed out in Febuary or March. JeremyChan and I have projects of our own, and lots of school work to do.

However, some of the mic quality isn't quite up to par, and makes it sound a little wierd. however, whoever did Will was perfect. his voice was just right, sounding a lot like the orriginal. hazzah.
you inspired me to write liberation of dreams. congrats.

I can understand if there's not, but I was wondering if it's possible to download this or perhaps have the file sent to me? I would love to listen to it, but that's something that's really impossible for me online. I'd love to get it onto my MP3 player or a CD and listen to it without distractions.
Sure, what's your email? I'll have JeremyChan send it
