This RP takes place in the interim between Journey of Dreams and my proposed NiGHTS 3 game.

Wizeman had long foreseen the possibility of his death, and had acted accordingly. When NiGHTS succeeded in destroying him, and escaping to the human world in the process, Reala discovered a recording left to him by the dark lord of Nightmare. In it, Wizeman expressed his trust to Reala that he would soon be resurrected.

Reala, however, had other plans.

Gathering the remaining Level One Nightmaren (Jackle, Knitobor, and Lagi), Reala announced his inheritance of Wizeman's empire. He then proclaimed his plan: To invade the real world and exterminate humanity. And, for the most part, everyone agreed.

But one fourth-level Nightmaren, Bordel by name, realized that killing off humanity would likely destroy the Ideya that the Nightmaren now needed to survive. At first, she couldn't get anyone to believe her. Then Owl, one of the archetypes, agreed with her, and in that moment the empire split.

Now there is battle, battle between the Realan and the True Nightmaren. And a race as well, to mimic NiGHTS' escape. All of Nightopia trembles, for this is a clash of monsters, and doom circles round every battle...

This is the Nightmaren war.

BACKGROUND INFO:

Level One Nightmaren: NiGHTS, Reala, Jackle, Kintobor, Lagi
These Nightmaren were each designed to steal one specific type of Ideya, thus there are only five. Although each was designed to steal a specific Ideya type, they can all take all kinds of Ideya, having taught each other the proper methods, with the exception of red Ideya. They can all fly, dualize, generate portals, use multiple personas, and have super-human strength and agility. In appearance, only their hands and heads are visible, however most wear makeup and clothing (Jackle excepted). They are genderless and cannot reproduce, and the method for making new level one Nightmaren died with Wizeman. NiGHTS is in the real world, Reala leads the Realan, and the other three are Reala's top-ranking advisors. No Player Character can be a level one Nightmaren (See below)

Level Two Nightmaren: Lots of them
Physically identical in basic morphology to level one Nightmaren, the level two Nightmaren can also fly, dualize, steal Ideya, and have super-human strength and agility. However, instead of generating portals, they generate projectiles, and they can only use one Persona at a time. During the Reign of Wizeman, all level two Nightmaren were required to remain in Persona forms at all times; however, Reala has lifted this rule, much to the relief of many Nightmaren. Like Level one Nightmaren, Level two Nightmaren originally came in five flavors; however, NiGHTS made a point of destroying any of them that were designed to steal Ideya of Courage. There were always exactly a thousand level two Nightmaren, though the roster changed as Wizeman saw fit. Now, unable to reproduce or have new level two Nightmaren made, these creatures risk a fare greater extinction then personal death. Around twenty five percent of Level Two Nightmaren fight against Reala; the rest remain loyal to him. Playable characters.

Level Three Nightmaren: The troopers
Unlike level one and two Nightmaren, Level three Nightmaren can reproduce via Dualization. They are also capable of stealing Ideya and usually have an offensive and defensive ability. Designed as the primary "ground force" of Wizeman, these Nightmaren are entrusted with the monitering of Visitors and dispatching them from the dreamworld as soon as they lose all their Ideya. They are incapable of using Personas, but the highly varied morphology of each individual makes up for it. Around fifty percent of these Nightmaren have betrayed Reala, but the rest remain loyal to him. Playable characters.

Level Four Nightmaren: Wait, there's a fourth level?
Colorless, unnoticed, and downtrodden, it is no wonder that the rebel Bordel originated from this section. These Nightmaren can shapeshift, pass through solid objects, and throw spheres of their internal flame, but lack the ability to fly, steal Ideya, or use Personas. The fact that Bordel chooses to mimic the appearance of first and second-level Nightmaren is considered the worst insult possible by the Realan. Like level three Nightmaren, level four Nightmaren can reproduce via Dualization. Around seventy percent, including Bordel, oppose Reala. Playable race.

Archetype: Ancient and powerful
Archetypes represent various fictional personalities. Owl is an Archetype. Archetypes can warp anywhere instantly, and do so to further their individual causes. There are Archetypes on both sides of the war, and some are wildcards. Archetypes are not playable.

Mepians: Little half-breed punks that they are...
Mepians are Nightmaren that have permanently dualized with Nightopians and/or the children of such beings. They can fly (duh), dualize, and use personas, but are incredibly weak and considered by most Nightmaren to be stupid. However, there are multiple mercenary forces of Mepians in existance, payed by both sides of the war as well as the Nightopians. Mepians have no official loyalty. They are a playable race.

Nightopians: If Wizeman's so tough, how'd these guys survive?
Many, many, MANY misconceptions exist about the Nightopians, but foremost is that they are cowards. THIS IS NOT TRUE. They avoid fighting, as they do not see the point, but many a Nightmaren plot has been foiled by a cleverly placed object in their realm. They consider the Nightmaren to be abrasive cousins, but family nonetheless, and are noted for the construction of pretty much everything in the Night Dimension. It is rumored that they have even found a way to the real world... but they are seemingly too ditzy to ask. The key word being "seemingly." Not a playable race.

*DEEP BREATH*

Dualization: An in-depth explanation...
Dualization is the process wherein two entities assimilate with one another. Originally designed as a predatory process, it would allow Nightmaren to take in any opposition and at the same time fully gain their abilities. Dualized individuals generally look like a mix in their component parts, unless one ore more of the dualizers is a visitor. Dualizing with another entity for extended periods of time will transfer some of said entity's power to the dualizer and visa verca. Any Nightmaren that dualizes with an equal or greater-lever nightmaren risks mental subjugation. Dualizing with visitors is inherently painful due to Ideya and can only be held for a short time, however all other dualizations can be held indefinitely. In third and fourth-level Nightmaren, dualizing with the opposite gender for an extended period of time results in the female taking a portion of the male's body. A new individual grows within the female until it is mature, then they retro-dualize. This is a far less messy version of reproduction then Visitor's and is entirely optional.

Ideya: Because they are so nice
Ideya, generated by visitors, are the power source of the Night dimension. Their presence directly affects the environment, and if their original owners are present, they tend to do so in very specific ways. Nightopians allow them to function without interference; Nightmaren, on the other hand, prefer a more direct control of their home-world. Ideya also serve as the primary food source for Nightmaren, and individuals can go about a month without them.

Personas: Those masks that apparently everyone hates...
Personas were originally crafted by the Nightopians, who would use them for their entertainment and benefit. Wizeman, however, learned the process and began manufacturing them en masse, to the point where all the Nightmaren capable of having one did. Personas allow their users to shift into different forms and generally have a power associated with such a form; the dolphin, for example, swims underwater, wheras the rocket allows a speed burst. There are also five telepathic personas that Wizeman intended to use to keep track of the Level-one Nightmaren; Reala may or may not have had those destroyed. All level two nightmaren have one persona, however level three and four nightmaren have no persona.

Gilded Cage: You know, those gold things...
Gilded Cages are a mobile form of Ideya palaces, mass manufactured by Wizeman in order to capture annoying pests. They can be summoned by a Level One Nightmaren, and are specifically designed only to be opened by a Level one Nightmaren and/or an Ideya of Courage. Theoretically, they are destructible, but nobody has yet to figure out how to destroy them. At this point in time, they serve a prison cages for what Reala refers to as the rebels.

AND NOW, THE APPLICATION SHEET!

Race: What your mommy was.
Allegiance: Are you with the noble Reala, or with the vigilant Bordel?

Well, I've finished adding all the races. All that's left are the objects and terms.

Lots of those too... I have got to stop over-thinking video games...

Apperance: (I'll put in his picture this weekend)

Uh oh, there's a problem. :o

Our backstories clash! I'd love to join, but when I devised Noctourne (he acually told me about himself in a dream, very cool) I made him actracted to white ideya, even going so far as to have a monochromatic colour scheme and little floating white ideya with him. His castle is even made of the power of white ideyathat he's stolen, like a demented nightopia That totaly contradicts your maren. If Noctourne were one of yours, he'd be a level one. Yes, Nocy is a total maren sue. :D

If you want I could use my fanmaren Requiem, a cat-looking minion with gypsy-esque patterns that has some powers...

Home again, home again, jigity jog...

I'd like to announce that the RP is being called OFF. That does not mean the Nightmaren war is over; I simply wish to write it as a semi-serial fanfic elsewhere. I'm going to copy and paste my entire first post though, so in case any of you want to use this as a background for a fanfic, you can, although I would ask that you state this is the Nightweaver interpretation. Thank you... and have a pleasent nightmare.
