HI ALL - Ive heard a lot about these NiGHTS comics in the last few days and wanted to know more about them. Everyone Ive seen mentioning them seems to do so with a certain amount of disgust. I think therefore I can assume they wern't any good - BUT - if they give some insight into the whole story of NiGHTS then I think I would like to know more. Does anyone know where you can get hold of these comics (to buy OR view online). Whats the general jist of the story?? And if they are baaad - Why are they?

As for the comics themselves.....*shudders* This topic is likely to start a riot. ^^'' Basically everything that Archie could've screwed up, they did. Everyone looks retarded, the storyline just BARELY follows the original of the game......pretty much the only thing they got right was everyone's names. They suck, man.

Honestly, I don't know where to begin. When I was a kid, I hated the cover art. I wondered what the hell Spaz was thinking. But I never got to read them. Now I've read more about it and read a couple panels here and there and there's so many reasons I hate it. Why bother making things up like that?? If they didn't have enough to go on for a story, then why not just leave it alone. @_@ At least they didn't turn NiGHTS green because he OMG obsorbed the Ideya of wisdom!!11ONE!11

I have only read about 10 pages of the comics and I am EMBARRASSED at what they look like!O.M.G!NiGHTS reminds me of a Disney cartoon,Claris.....she's okay,but Elliot looks a little on the fruity side,look at those eyelashes!I know Elliot isn't gay I'm just sayin he looks like it.

They amused me. A bit. They're not GOOD (NEVER!) nor they are BAAAD. More to the "bad" side, but still... I like to read it in the .com, or read Parody Into Dreams to laugh a bit.

And yea... I wish it was better.

Yeah, I'm going to vote poo though I havent read it all - I started, got to about page 8 and gave up. If it couldnt hold me for that long then no go. I should give them another try I guess. Trippy, any chance of them all being put up soon?

I think Metra put it best... they're bad, but they're not completely terrible. The final battle against Wizeman was fairly decent (up until when Claris and Elliot bond with NiGHTS) and I'm very impressed with how they used the whole Mepian concept as a plot point... and Wizeman's hands were pretty cleverly used.
Aside from that, the art is pretty wishy washy, the dialogue is horrible, they mixed up Gillwing and Puffy and the story is a bit 'meh'... I still voted 'Poo' XD

I still haven't read the second series... almost looking forward to them, just to see where they go...

Okay, I'll admit it! I enjoyed the first three when they came out! THERE I SAID IT! *awaits much smiting*

I still have them around here somewhere, just for the sake of my inner collector.. I thought the first three were an interesting take "based on" the game, yanno? That and Canadians have little access to ANYTHING cool except for snow, but anyway.. back on track!

With the second series, I read them with some.. uneasiness. The artwork was mediocre, the storyline deviating leagues from the original, and... dare I say, it was all rather "not-that-amazing fanfic-ish"! O_o;

Oh well.. points to Archie for trying anway, and a bonus for giving us something to talk about for years to come!

PiD is a version of the Archie comics made by MangaPunkSai as far as I'm aware... she basically removed all the speech from the actual comics and replaced it with a new, hillarious one.

It's really impossible to vote for the comics.
The first three were actually pretty good (forgiving some ugly character designs and errors)
It was only when issue 4 came out that it really went downhill.
It's really just one big fanfic with pictures.

Overall, I love the comics. I keep mine safely encased in plastic in a file.
I also have a few extra issues. I like to rescue them as I find them and save them for deserving fans.

It is, isn't it? I mean, the first three weren't THAT bad. There were some interesting ideas even if the plot lacked and the art was all over the place... but the next three? Ye gods.

The first three are bad.

The last three... may be the worst comics I have ever read in my life. And were actually hugely entertaining because of it. Bad art, bad dialogue, horrible pacing, boring colours, mimes, terrorism... Really. The second arc was stunningly bad and may actually be funnier than Sai's parody with it's pure 'WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? WHAAAT!?'

I'm not sure if Trippy has forgiven me for inflicting those issues on her yet.

As a kid, the comics were the first real exposure to NiGHTS that I had. Looking back, there is now a sort of hatred for them from many parties.

Myself....I have to give Archie some credit. It took some major nerve to take a gamble on creating a series based on what was even then basically and "underground cult" game. What's more, the game's story is actually pretty open, leaving plenty of room for a personal interpretation. So yes, the comics were a bit like a fan fiction and the art was a bit shakey in the last three, but the fact remains that the first three of the comics were actually pretty decent.

I think that's kinda forgivable... I've seen people calling Jackle "Jackal", "Jacke", "Jackel" and things like that... No wait. No, it's not forgivable. Kill 'em wit fire.

I think that WTAHM2, that TRiP's doing, will be the real GOOD NiGHTS comic. And that's OK for me.
