I noticed on the site, hardly anyone made fan art or talked about owl. I thought he was a funny worry wart character in the game. :) I usually like owls in games like Zelda and more (I also love birds), but I'm surprised about the owl in this game. So, I'm just curious. Do you like Owl? Why or why not?

I like him. He was a good guide. Plus, his accent is soothing and calming. I feel Owl was a good character!

True! His voice is soothing! But I also like the way he kinda talks and yells sometimes. Especially, when Nights and Helen was laughing at him while he talked. :) I really think he's cute as an owl as well. They picked a really good informative character with a personality for Nights JOD.

No one I know personally likes Owl. I don't like Owl. He's basically Omochao with feathers. OMOCHAO = EVIL

Well, everyone has likes and dislikes about owl. True, I don't know many people who like owl either, but it seems like I'm not the only one :o.

Yay! I'm not the only one who thought that!

I'm kinda indifferent. After listening to Kaepora Gaebola wax eloquent in Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, any bird (especially owls) that pops up in a game and starts talking about how I should play the game, plot points I'm going to find out anyway, etc., just make me stop paying attention until they shut up.

I did like his wardrobe, though...especially his glasses.

Thing is that Kaepora is actually useful sometimes. I would never have made it to Saria in the forest had it not been for Kaepora instructing me to follow the music. I would have been wandering around going HOOOLLLLYYY CRRRAAAPPP WWHHEEERRRRE AAAMMMM IIIIII until I got frustrated and hucked the game out the window.

I like Owl. He's very helpful and the first time I played the game I was freaking out when I was doing the battle against Girania. I had to pause it and I noticed the little icon of Owl.
He saved my JoD life, yes he did XD

nope
Then again I never got much time to really acknowledge him as more than a guide... mostly his "woo woo!"'s got annoying when I was in the middle of something... his advice never really helped me either... but again it didn't take long for me to unlock everything in the game, so I didn't see him around much...
I will however say he is much less annoying than some other in game helpers I've come across... Midna, from LoZ, being the best in game helper I've ever seen (and even one of my personal fav. vid game characters, period)
BUT!!! my vote says no.

That bird. That damn annoying bird. I couldn't help but want to pluck every single feather from his pathetic know-it-all body and throw him in cooker but not to eat him, just to hear him suffer more. I wish I could have literally taken myself into the game and put a shotgun to his head to save myself 3 minutes of an unnecessary tutorial at the beginning of the game. I hate that Captain Obvious birdbrain.

While it's interesting to have someone who keeps NiGHTS' personality in check and for NiGHTS to have a friend other than dreamers. Interaction for NiGHTS is always a bonus, the problem is he's a "guide" character and not a well-thought out one as he comes across as patronising and just annoying. He also feel shoe-horned into the series in order to guide new players to the series.

I Agree except... I think owl kinda backed off near the end of the game. Overall, I think it will be kinda boring without owl. Tutorial was a little okay, but I think he did much better with interation with NiGHTS and the visitors.

Owl? No. Why? Let's begin:
-As DAiLiGHT said, Omochao with wings. And yes, Omochao = EVIL. That's why I throw it down the streets of City Escape in SA2. :)
-I keep running into the stupid polls in My Dream.
-He stops free reign in the Dream Gate when you're NiGHTS.
-Unlike Omochao, you cannot pick it up and throw it at stuff. D:

eh, he was alright. I like his voice. I don't like how you can't just button mash through his talk. Like when you redo the tutorial for whatever reason, you can't skip over his instruction. You have to wait a bit for the button icon to show up. And his speech block gave me issues when I would run into him by accident because I couldn't really see what was going on in that space. I never could read his instructions and focus on where I was going at the same time anyway.
But as a character I think he's just fine.

My zoologist major friend also notes with appreciation that his wings flap in the correct direction.

Wow! Did not know that... huh...

Learn something new everyday or I probably skipped that detail when I was looking up owls.

I'm kinda surprised that you can't skip his instructions everytime you start a character, but atleast it's a short while XD. If it was long, It would be torture. I wonder if he'll come back if they make a night's 3.

LOL! Maybe another 10 years for that one to come out XD.

Owl is l33t mast3r G! Anyone who dissagrees gets banned. : D

No seriously, I've really grown to like him now.

Though i think what makes his design odd is that his eyes are tiny for an owl. Owls usualy have stonkin big eyes so they can see in the dark....

lol maybe thats why he wears glasses XD small eyes. Can't see anything.

Hadn't thought about that irony about him.. personally I'm on the fence. As a character he has merit, he serves as a 'teacher' character, a liaison, what have you. On the other hand I kinda feel like his character could potentially be tweaked into something much, much cooler (thinking along the lines of Cheshire Cat). As it stands he feels a bit contrived, part of the 'Disney-esque' nature of JoD.

I voted that I like Owl... he is well implemented and serves his purpose well. He was good for educating the newer players who never experienced the original etc.

Though he does get on your nerves after a while.

Somebody mentioned omochao, I think hes ok too, though again for more experienced players these types of tutorial characters can get annoying at times. Overall though, they are cool.

What do you mean by 'Disney-esque'?

Like, a kind of 'fairy-tale' ness that certain things in JoD exudes.. mainly due to the dialogue, but also a bit about character design, where Owl is concerned. Sort of a Jiminy Cricket-ish quality, if that makes sense.
