Just curious everyone. Which character from the Sonic Universe is your favorite? Mine's Espio with just about everyone else (except maybe the villians) comming in a close second (the villians come in third unless they're really dumb ones and no Dr. Eggman isn't in that catagory of dumb ones...more of the Badnicks and robots of the games that you need to fight and in some cases lose your hard earnd lives to...grrr.)

Characters from the recent games and from Sonic Underground weren't taken into account because I haven't seen much of them yet. The most hated characters are another story...

Just Sonic really. Tails would be second. Knuckles third. Then maybe Shadow but he was cooler back when he was evil. Now he's just 100% emo and no one wants to play as that.

Silver is my favorite character. I always thought the concept of telekinesis would be a kickass power to have and they really pulled it off well with Silver. As for me, I am freaking in love with Chaos Zero, so help me God. Chaos was a very strange villain, but that's what made him so memorable-- he had this huge range of motion (being 'liquid' and all), could melt at will, and didn't just stay for one level but stayed for the whole fishing game. There's never been another character like him, and let's face it-- he's an indispensable part of the Sonic universe. He's the reason they're even called Chaos Emeralds, you know! ^^ He was also the driving force behind SA's storyline, which in my opinion is one of the absolute best Sonic games, right up there with the original 3. So yes. Chaos is always #1 for me in that respect. Bring him back please.

Big the Cat is second on my list, because he's just plain awesome in my opinion. Laugh at his overly easygoing personality, curse his fishing levels in SA, protest against Sega whenever he appears in a game, but I'm staying a fan. Big is another highly unique character. I love his personality, first off. "Take it easy," "enjoy life" and all that... I, for one, really need that advice, and I think we all do from time to time. Secondly, he's a gigantic purple cat with a fishing rod for a weapon and a frog as his best friend. Come on, how much more original can you get? XD I'm extremely glad he's coming back in Chronicles, especially since he's finally getting a more serious outlook on life. Give him more fans please.

Third is Silver, the eternally fluffy fuzzball, as he's a very cool dude and is terribly loveable. As DAiLiGHT said, he has a very naive personality, which immediately attracts me to him. He starts off as this angry and broken hedgehog hellbent on saving his world at any cost, but very quickly he reveals that he's not only completely unsure of what he's doing, but also has an incredibly sweet side. Personally, my favorite moment in the game (so far, I'm still playing XD) has to be when he's with Amy in the desert, and he's just enthralled with the beauty of nature as-is, although Amy just takes it all for granted. And yes, his psychokinetic abilities are incredibly well done and really a great idea. He's a joy to play as.

Lastly, I'm a big fan of good old Nack the Weasel. Popgun, crazy smile, crooked tail, cowboy hat and all, he's a great character and I'm not the only one clamoring for his return.

In the game universe I would say Sonic because he is the most fun to play as in the latest games.

In the non-game universe I'll say Knuckles because the Knuckles Archie series was pretty great. I am also a fan of Bunnie in her SatAM incarnation.

But then when I was in 5th grade, SA2 came out and I became obsessed with Shadow for several years.
It kinda sucks to admit to others that you're a Shadow fan, you either get laughed at or called a sinner or both...._{Stupid wal-mart nerds! I hate you!}
I blame Sega for ruining him.

Anyway, my current favorites consist of Mighty, Chaos 0, and Shadow.

I haven't played any games newer than SA2, so I don't know how stupid Shadow becomes, but I like him in SA2.

The main three are all great though. I still demand that Sonic Team integrate Tails' inventing skills in-game. Playing as Chaos would be pretty cool. And Big the Cat doesn't deserve all the hate. At least he's not a clone of anyone else on the team.

Knuckles - He became a real rival to Sonic. I don't like the way Sega have made him some 'good friend' of Sonics now though. They were meant to be rivals and now that Shadow is all over the damn scene it's ruined it. Besides, when the hell is Knuckles actually going to get back to, ya know, guarding the Floating Island?

Tails - He was the second character on the scene and screamed originality. I liked him back then and i still do now.

Mighty - Because he had potential to be a stand alone character yet Sega just threw him away like a piece of crap.

Cream - Sadly, the only bloody bunny in the entire series. I waited years to see if Sega would ever include a bunny into the story and this was what they gave us? *sigh* I suppose it should suffice. *shrugs*

As for Shadow, to me personaly i think he's over-stayed his welcome now. Stay dead and stop making the series look over-the-top serious.
Silver...being honest i ain't played the Sonic '06 game but i hear this character is getting some bad rep for some reason. Though this is not a "who's your worst Sonic character" topic so i'll end this post here.

Yeah they were awesome! My uncle worked at this candy company for a while and he gave me and my sister a bunch of them.... but after that I never saw them in stores or anything so I wasn't aware that you could buy them...

Metal Sonic. Hands down.

He is Sonic's first rival (Sonic CD came out before Sonic 3), plus he's just bad-ass. He's 'meh' in Sonic Heroes, but the fact that they brought him back at all is great. However, I'm a bit disappointed in his lack of 'being in the story line at all'. I liked that you can play as him in both of the remade Adventure games though.
Really, I think they need to start making Metal Sonic a pivotal story character again. In Sonic CD he was all 'yeah b-tch, I stole ur gf', but now he's all '-robot noise- good job you got 130 emblems'. So, yeah, I like Metal Sonic. Sue me.

Well, technicaly he was created by Robotnik to be an enemy to Sonic. The bad guy.
Knuckles, however, is his own being yet was being tricked by Robotnik. After that, Sonic and Knuckles seemed to be rivals in the games that followed...up until Shadow turned up.

But i guess i can see your point of view.

Anyways. My two top favorites are Sonic himself, and Knuckles. I can get nitpicky about that, but meh. All I'll say is that there's something about Knuckles' classic design that his new one lacks. And when I figure out it is exactly, I'm going to gripe about it endlessly.

Other than that, I had a special place for Shadow at one point. That was before they brought him back to life after Sonic Adventure 2.

I'm also partial to Blaze since her appearance in Sonic Rush. I liked her design and how her abilities were integrated into the retro Sonic gameplay style. What I didn't like were her appearances after Rush. I guess, kinda the same issues I have with Shadow.

Blaze is just cool and awesome character. xD Shadow in SA2 is the dark type of character and good but in later games, he's gone "a bit" emo. And Tails, he was one of my first favorite characters 'cause he is cute. x3

My favorite character has always been Tails. When I was little I used to play Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 a lot with my brother, he was playing as Sonic and I was playing as Tails. Lots of memories.
And yeah, Tails is so cute <3

I like Espio, with Knux at 2nd and Rouge at 3rd. Espio is awesome because he is a ninja and can blend in with environments. Knuckles, wow, he can glide and climb walls. Awesome! I don't know what it is, but Rouge is an interesting character. She adds the character who you don't quite know if she is good or bad, and her attitude just makes me laugh, and she creates a love interest for Knuckles!

I will definitely have to say Knuckles on this one, folks. He's red, and has cool claw knuckles. He can climb...and glide with his hair. Sonic would come second, and then Shadow probably.

3. Espio (pre-heroes) Seriously, in Chaotix, he uses his color changing ability to make himself MORE visible, rather than hiding himself. He reminds me of Jin Satome.

5. I call him "Proto Silver' basically, Silver went through several big revisions before the game was released, my favorite is the second picture here In fact, I think that "Nazo", from Sonic X, is a prototype design of silver.

Yeah, I see where you're coming from; I hadn't thought about it that way. Still, I think you could conisider Metal Sonic a rival to Sonic. A more enemy/rival than a friendly rival though. Kinda like Shadow in SA2.

Blaze is cool manipulates fire... nice... serious nature without being a cutter emo (I mean you Shadow) (WHY IN THE BLOODY BLAZES (no pun intended) IS SHE NOT IN MORE GAMES!?)
Rouge the Bat, so sue me! I jus like her manipulative personality, and the fact that she's really the one in control throughout the majority of the games.
Then Sonic for the carefree personality and style.

I'd have to say that my favorite sonic characters are Shadow and Silver, mostly because of a certain user on Youtube. His clever animations make Shadow seem like a jerk with common sense, and Silver like a total idiot (which is what i've always seen them as). My other favorites include Eggman and Knuckles.

E-102 Gamma is definately my number 1 favorite of all time.. Don't know why, really. But I adore him. Probably because his name's a greek letter.
Favorite male character (because Gamma's a robot, and therefore doesn't have a gender) is probably Knuckles, with Shadow as a close second. Knuckles is above Shadow, however, because he's been around longer, and I think it would have worked better if he weren't a hedgehog. Too many hedgehogs...
Favorite female character is a tough tie between Wave and Blaze, even though I'm more of a watery person myself. (Then again, I'm a total Axle fan too...)

I am a huge Shadow fan since SA2 (he is my favorite Sonic Character after all) and I am not going to let the game Shadow the Hedgehog keep me from adoring him!! Shadow fans unite!!
Also, Silver is growing on me, although he is new to me. Love him in Sonic Rivals 2. And Sonic will always have a place in my heart.
Hahaha...guess I love all three hedgehogs...

Sonic, Tails, Knux, Metal Sonic, Blaze. However, I don't see a need for any other characters besides the ones pre-Sonic Adventure. Especially Big or Silver.

I get bugged with the addition of new characters in nearly every new game. There's no need! And Shadow... don't even get me started. He was cool in SA2, but I think he should have stayed dead at the end of the game. It would have been the better move. Thanks, Sega. >.<
