It appears to me that the story is about Reala or one of the other repaints trying to capture Nights and drag her back. I think Owl said something about Wizeman trying to take over Nightopia or something i don't remember and my game missing. And if that's true, what does he need Nights for? Does he really need her back to take control Nightopia? That's like having a squad of mercenaries secure a daycare center. WTF?

Even though I have a feeling that the plot was basically just thrown together in someone's, mom's basement... there could also be the possibility that Wizeman wants his creations together to take over Nightopia and turn it into the next part of Nightmare. Like he's got obsessive compulsive disorder or he's a perfectionist where everything must become one in order to destroy everything.

Ooooh, I like that theory. It fits with what he says towards the end of the game. He's willing to forgive NiGHTS if NiGHTS just listens to him and allows him to replace his soul.It's not until NiGHTS refuses that Wizeman decides to kill him. Control obsessive much?

It would fit with NiD as well, since NiGHTS keeps getting thrown into the Ideya Palaces rather than being killed at once (ignoring that NiGHTS being killed would end the game very quickly).

He wanted to take over Nightopia, but he also wanted his little NiGHTSy back!! I mean, he WAS Wizeman's creation, after all.

Maybe he just wants him close by so he can keep an eye on him. You know, like if you're a teenager and your parents place strict curfew on you so they know you're not out doing bad things and stuff. I think it's like that for Wizeman. NiGHTS is his creation so he wants him close by so he can keep an eye (or six) on him so he knows if NiGHTS tries to escape again and such.

I think his goal was not only to rule nightopia and expand the nigmare realm but once nightopia was destroyed, children and adults will only experience nightmares (possible trying to rule the waking world too?)
Sounds a hell alot like Monkey Bone, that movie was about nightmares and how one monkey was used to make everyone have nightmares so the nightmares can live forever. Bah.

Many fans dubbed NiGHTS as: Prince of Nightmare. Dunno how, but i think NiGHTS is actually somehow stronger that Reala perhaps? The strongest one but since Reala was basically part of NiGHTS they both were 1st class Marens.

Another reason Wizeman wants NiGHTs to join back to Nightmare is so he stoped helping the children and nightopians saving nightopia, maybe NiGHTS has some sort of power were unaware of that wizeman needs?

But seriously, if your the creator of nightmare, powerful being, able to scare people so much that you could kill them in your sleep... why would you need so many lower class marens? Why do you need to Jester creatures to do all your bidding while you sit there and wave your six hands around thinking your tough except you barely move. >_<

I think Reala is very afraid of Wizeman though...

So...maybe because he has so many weakling lower-class marens, that's why he needs all the help he can get with the upper-class ones (NiGHTS and Reala).

Actually, I think you answered yourself a bit... he's too scary. He'd probably scare people awake before being able to do anything to them, much less take their Ideya.

I would see that his ultimate goal was to destroy Nightopia so only Nightmare remained, like many other people have said. I don't know about taking over the waking world, though...

Well... taking over Nightopia would be incredibly hard, with or without NiGHTS. I guess he needs all the help he can get, and NiGHTS is the most playful and least scary of all his creations. He could probably get anybody's Ideya without even trying.

Besides that, how many planes of Nightopia are there with so many countless dreamers? After he makes one crumble into Nightmare, he'll still have millions others to take. He must need those Ideya for another reason besides taking over one Nightopia one after the other for all eternity... maybe he does want the waking world, maybe he wants to take all dreams and realities and make them his own in one giant "perfect" nightmare

The only thing in his way is nights, nights will risk everything to stop wizeman and his schemes because it wizeman had his way well it would be boring and that's not night's style. The reason for dragging nights back is probably either to prevent nights from interfering or brainwashing nights of all rebellious thoughts that's what i think.

I'm imagining an evil man in a coma right now, a perpetual coma, and in the world of Dreams, he's Wizeman. I don't know, but I'm imagining doctors hovering over him going, "I wonder what a man like him dreams about." and the optimistic doctor next to him goes "Perhaps he's dreaming about turning over a new leaf and becoming a better man."

In the dreams:

"SINK INTO THE DARKNESS!!!!"

So, in an attempt to stay on topic without rambling, Wizeman is indeed a basket case.
