i need Help D:

Alright so about two/three years ago, i read up A LOT on dreaming, sleeping, nightmares, dream scapes etc. I found that there were certain things you had to make yourself feel/see/think in a dream for something else to happen. (like when you 'transport' you feel like there's a hook pulling your belly button or something like that)

I wanted to Lucid dream. i told myself, 'you'll wake up in your dreams tonight' for every night and it was very hard for me. i'm a drifty thinker and it's a challenge for me to stay on subject in my head. but when i finally did it, i woke up in real life immediatly. So not only is it hard as hell for me to wake up in a dream but it's even harder to stay asleep! As soon as i stop and realize, 'this isn't real...' everything goes away and i snap awake usually sweating or short of breath. The most recent time I can remember is in a dream i had a month or so ago.

I was in this dream and i was in one of my old middle schools. I was in the science hallway which is brighter than most of the halls and much more.. blueish. Anyway. So that day in science, in real life, we had been learning about clouds and weather. So in my dream, i was thinking about the sky. I wanted to fly and i found it was extremly difficult. I would hop up, float for a split second and fall. I would try to get a running start and try to make myself weightless but i couldn't stay up very long. Then i started to think, "Oh! i know i read something about flying before!" and then.. it hit me.. i read about it while learning about lucid dreaming. I looked around and realized that the hallway wasn't exactly right and that there was no one else with me even though i could hear the voices of the students walking around. but when this happened, the voices stopped and everything started going dark. I began to worry because i suddenly lost control of my body and it just WOULDN'T move. Then i was awake and i jumped up in my bed. I had been trying to move in my dream and it transfered when i woke up. XD

Anyway, is there some way of fixing this? I want to wake up and i want to fly and i want to run. Oh, over most things, i want to run at the speed of light with my legs feeling like jelly and the wind in my face. (i love running track and stuff ah haha) But i can't do that otherwise i'll have dreams about my favorite characters or something that happened that day. I also have a habit of having dreams that come to life in the near future but i don't have a problem with that. XD little things like 'failing a test' or 'getting into a fight' or something.

Well, if I want to lucid dream, I always leave my radio/CD player on. Or a dull light. I think it helps. Lucid dreaming is sort of when you are half asleep. Anyway. The music helps me to realize that I am dreaming. I hope this helps!

i've actually tried that. I sleep with a nightlight too. XD but maybe i -should- find -something- that'll help me wake up. i'm thinking about having someone come into my room and telling me, quietly so that i don't wake up, "you're dreaming" a few times until i, possibly, hear it. maybe it'll work?

Hiya Sweep! You've certainly had more success than me in realizing the dream, so don't give up! ^_^

I've been reading a book about lucidity, and it has all manner of techniques to recognizing and maintaining it. One thing they suggest is asking yourself every so often, "Am I dreaming?", during the day - not all the time, but anytime you think you could be dreaming, I suppose. For instance, when I feel a gust of wind outside, I imagine the flying sensation and ask that question. The ideya is that you'll kind of make a habit of it, and eventually, you'll be asking it in your dreamscape too!

It may be better to just ask "Am I dreaming?" as opposed to "This isn't real..." The latter sounds a bit more ominous to me, anyway, and maybe it shocks you to the point of awakening. By asking, it'll give you time to take a note of your "surroundings", and you'll come to the conclusion gradually. It might not happen right away, but I'm sure with time you'll be flying free!
