OMFG D: Go see Iron Man RIGHT NOW!
I never thought I'd say this, since I'm a huge Christian Bale, Batman, and comics fan, but Iron Man is better than Batman Begins. And I mean, really better. Way better.
Robert Downey Jr. was made to be Tony Stark. He's perfect.
...and if you do go, stay after the credits.

Seconding this. Seconding this SO HARD.
I'm not even a big Iron Man fan, but this was just a fantastic summery action movie. It's not particularly clever or thought provoking but that doesn't matter in the slightest because it is SO much fun that you don't notice.
Also I now demand that someone make a Nikolai Dante film just so Robert Downey Jr can play the title role because that would be amazing.
But yeah, go see Iron Man. And indeed, stay after the credits.

Definitely one of the top 5 superhero flicks of all time. This movie was just so much fun and I am a Iron Man fan so I really appreciated the fact they remained faithful to origin and even threw in some themes from the Armor Wars in there. Great actors too. Robert Downey Jr. nailed Stark's character and The Dude (Jeff Bridges )made a good antagonist. Just great acting all around. It wasn't the deepest flick ever, but it had so much going for it it's hard to care.
My favorite scene - Testing thrusters at 10% in 3...2...1...

I have not yet seen it but I am surprised by all the positiveness!
I had been embittered by Marvel's most recent movie efforts such as Fantastic Four 1-2, Spider-Man 3, X-Men 3, Ghost Rider, et al. being so bad that there seemed like no hope. I am glad to be wrong!

Iron Man was one of the best comic-to-movie adaptations that I've ever seen. Stark's character was refreshingly different than some of the other superheroes. I've noticed that most heroes are angst, angst, angst, then kick the arch-nemesis a few times -- rinse, lather, and repeat.
Stark was taking the best out of a bad situation and having fun with it -- that, plus I've always liked the idea of someone who DIDN'T fall in a vat of radioactive waste to get their powers.
But yes -- if you're able, go see Iron Man! I had no prior knowledge of the character or the backstory, and I was extremely impressed. (I even went and researched into the rest of the comic book series -- it's really interesting!)
Question, though: What was supposed to be after the credits? I had to leave before they were finished.

Truly, this was possibly the Best Superhero Movie ever made. Better than Batman, Superman, and others. Truly, it was smart, funny, and all around witty.
The action was great, the Effects were top-notch and the actors were all relatively good.
Need I say anymore about Downey? He played Tony Stark so well and he really became Iron Man. With Iron Man, it shows that you can make a great Superhero Movie with Awesome Action Sequences and have a story that's well written and makes sense.
One thing is for sure, Iron Man shows that this Summer is definitely a great time for movies

To update since my last post in the thread, I HAVE seen it.
I think it compares most fairly to Batman Begins yet manages to be an even better film. Serious goodness there.
It is about time Marvel quit making comic books and just become a movie studio exclusively.

That's the funniest thing I've heard in a long time.
