Without dreams I'd have less life than the little I do have now ;p but yea, I'm a humorous person and I am greatly into all forms of comedy. I'll embrace anyone who wants to be a lovely internet companion of mine and YOU are automatically my friend if you had the audacity to read this whole thing.
Haven't been here for a while. I was listening to this song today and there were quite a lot of words that were hard to make out and are seemingly up to one's interpretation. So post what you think you hear in the song! I'll start with the most obvious: "Hello?....hellooooooo.."

Great to have you back. As for what I can hear I have created a list.

1)Get it, get it, get
2)Yeah
3)YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHH!!!
4)C'mon
5)Hello?... Hellooo?
6)RAWR!(near the end)
7)Shut up(near the end)
8)Kay. (at the end)

I heard "Mom" in the middle of one sentence, like a kid whining for something.

I write poetry and lyrics (although they're not very good T__T) and comedy movies. I love the Dreamcast podcast that DiGi and TRiPPY put on. I also enjoy thinking outside the box. I'm what is known as a Meathead. I can laugh at myself, think outside the box, and smile. Meatheads are smarter than your average Joe, with much more common sense and the rare ability to find creative solutions to problems. My idol is a man named Jimmy Dolittle. Look him up ^.~
Gate of Your Dreams.... Gate of Your Dreams.... hmm.... I'll have to listen to that one and I'll get back to you.

I'll start with the most obvious: "Hello?....hellooooooo.."

That would be Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) from Home Alone. ;) Thats the one I always hear, because my brain is constantly looking for reused clips from movies and tv.

    Oh, and NiGHTS.
i heard one kid say "hey gimme gimme" then the RAWR!

Possibly supposed to represent some kid getting bullied and the bullies toke his toy away and are trying to make him reach for it or something

You know, the Home Alone thing has been around for YEARS since i joined the fanbase myself, but I've never EVER heard a side by side comparison of the audio despite tons of people agreeing with it.

Can anyone compile some sort of recorded example for me? I don't have Home Alone on video and I've not seen it since it came out XD

YES! It is the Home Alone thing! I was watching it one day and my bro said I got an insane look on my face because I screamed, "THAT'S FROM NiGHTS! OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGEEEEEE!!!!!"

I'm most absolutely certain it's from Home Alone.

Bringing this topic back from the dead.

About the Home Alone thing-
The part in the song where the kid says "mom" and the "rawr" sounds are also from the movie.

whoever made that song was a big fan of Home Alone. lol

I have the movie, so I'll look through it some more and see if I can make out any more sounds.

*EDIT*
The part in the song that says "hey, gimme gimme. RAWR!" is also in the movie.
Also when the kids all say "yaaay" is in the movie.

so I'm just guessing that every other part in the song is from the movie. But I'm stilling watching.

If I can find a way to download the movie, I can put the clips on youtube.

Mmm..... Well now that it's apparently all from "Home alone" I guess everything basically gotten out of that... But before people wrote that the line was "hello? Hellooo?" It sounded like a whole scene was playing out. It sounded like the kids were having fun, and then got disappointed because their mom's not letting them do something. Instead of "Hello" I thought it sounded like "Well, Alright..." Like she's giving into them. 8P K. I'm done. But just listen to the song and try to hear that instead.

It's just like the rest of NiD- open for interpretation.

Is it even legal for Sega to use sound clips from Home Alone?

haha, I've never even thought of that. I'm guessing it pretty much is illegal, unless they got permission to use the clips.
I doubt they got permission though, seeing as SEGA most likely didn't think anyone would figure out where the clips came from.

who know for sure, unless someone emails SEGA. haha

~edit~
well, the same clips are used for the JoD Gate of Your Dreams. so maybe they did get the okay to use it?

Sega is pretty safe. Especially due to the fact that they're based in another continent than the one the source was made in? Hideki Naganuma's songs for compositions are a lot closer to treading towards illegal.

But sampling is generally considered acceptable - the context is changed so much and so little is generally taken that the copyright is generally not considered to have been infringed. (Although there are some large companies attempting to change that.)

Actually...I think they are clips from Home Alone. Seriously. And here's everything I hear.

"Mom?"

*kids cheer "yeah"* "Whoo!" ("Get in here"?)

"Come on."

"Hello? Hel-lo-oo?"

(Kids) "Alright!" (girl?) "Get in here." (Kid in BG) "This place is full." (girl?) "Get out sucker."

"Dad."

"Mom?"

"Sweet dreams."
"Good night dear." or "Get out of here." (Unsure which)

"Sweet..."
"Hey gimme gimme." "Roar!"

"Mom?"

"We left him in the HOUSE alone."

("My...sir knight"? Rice tonight? It's at 0:37 - 0:40.)

"Kay."

(Loops)

Also, just after "sucker" it sounds like a part in HA when the kid is wishing for his family for Christmas. Or that could just be me.
---
In the JoD version I can here some differences like around 19 seconds there's a deep voice... Wasn't that the boiler in the basement? I remember the kid was afraid of something down there...

Sorry for the Wall O' Text ™. >>;

Edit: XP Dang man. Almost half an hour listening and typing what I thought to have heard.

Woooooow, I had no idea about the Home Alone sample. I watched the movie for the first time in years and it blew me away!

I made a quick video showing two of the samples.

Man, thanks for that YouTube video! It's definitely illuminating. I'd have to assume that it's sampled from Home Alone, although it also sounds like the pitch/speed has been messed with.

SO WEIRD.

Not exactly Gate of Your Dream, but I thought this would be a good place to share: You know that little musical cue that plays as the level loads and you see Claris/Elliot falling? I heard it in a "Stop Smoking with Hypnosis" VHS tape from 1986! It must be a library piece.

That's so funny! It's still hard to believe they would actually go and use sound clips from Home Alone, but with all the similarities and that comparison video (Nice work by the way, Ninjando) it certainly seems so. I know it would sound creepy but I would love to hear the song with the music edited quieter or completely cut out of it.

And that definitely doesn't surprise me about the level loading screen's music being in any hypnosis based video XD Does make me wonder though what other NiGHTS music might have been borrowed from other sources now.

Yes, all talking in the background is from different scenes in Home Alone. I know this because during that time in the 90's I watched Home Alone a bucketload of times, it was right up there with Ninja Turtles for my most watched movie...lol. When I got NiGHTS on the Saturn and heard the title screen I picked up that it was from Home Alone straight away...and this was way back then before the internet took off... :)

I was surprised that others had discovered it as well to be honest. You have to be a bit of a movie buff to be able to pick up on sounds like that...

Thanks for this.

This has blown my mind. I've seen Home Alone plenty of times but never noticed that.

It's amazing use of a sample, they make something so mundane sound really mysterious and ethereal.
