Ok, I have known for a while now that JoD's boxart is the most fruitiest thing on a video game console (and I have been a Nintendo fan for nearly fifteen plus years, so I have seen fruity box art =/) but when I looked at the CD cases for NiD, they looked so...bad-arsed.

Does anyone else argee with me? If not, look at Journey of Dream's boxart (is it the same for all regions?) and NiD's JP case.

I was always a little put-off by the NiD boxart...but not for design reasons. The NiGHTS on the cover just doesn't look like the NiGHTS in the game; other than the much darker and dull purple on the cover as compared to the vivid, bright purple in the game, there's just something about the design of it that doesn't seem to match the game inside.

I don't think JoD's box art was that bad. I felt it was NiGHTS with a touch of class.

I like the box. Has a peter pan feel (well, the whole bellbridge theme does). Since peter pan is my fav disney movie i guess NiGHTS is even more awesome to be in his european getup. ACtually it's funny, when i bought the game an old friend sold it to me at wal mart. I went back in a few weeks later and she was like 'oh yeah u bought the game with the purple rabbit on it'. Now i do love rabbits (I got a black one named midnight) but i had to intervene and say 'NiGHTS is not a rabbit, he (applied a gender not to confuse her) is a flying dream jester who kicks ass'.

LOL - purple rabbit!

I like the box art, although I suppose it is a little fruity. Ive been longingly looking at it on my shelf for the last few months while i patiently save for this damned wii. It is my precious! (after my copy of the original, xmas nights and the old saturn of course)

Yeah, my dad took one look at the box art and said, "So who's the chick on the cover? Some kind of stripper?" The clerk at Gamestop started laughing so violently I thought he was going to throw up.

DD= I've never heard someone call NiGHTS a stripper before.
...And if your dad thought there was a stripper on the cover of the game you wanted, why'd he let you buy it? XD

I like JoD's boxart...certainly easy to pick out of a "crowd"...but I don't see how it's fruity...there are MUCH fruitier coverarts out there. (Maybe not for Wii yet, but they exist on other systems for sure.)

I never saw NiD's in person...
From what I've seen, it's pretty much the same concept as JoD, ne? Where NiGHTS is flying by in front of the city? Only without the gigantic moon or shiny/glowing effects?
So how is that one any less fruity?

The JP, PAL and US disc cases are all different. The JP one with "dream paradox" is just sexy. Also, the reds, whites and pinks mold very well together. Japan sometimes always gets the best game cases, but I really liked the PAL case to. Star sign NiGHTS, W00t! =3

The moon, however, is in the opening FMV.

As for JoD's case... maybe it's NiGHTS girly lashes?

^ The original cover arts for all regions... i really have to update with the JoD and other game scans soon.

Also, i loved the cover for JoD, but the only thing i disliked about it was NiGHTS smile was WAY too far up the side of his face, like its trying to escape and run for the Olympics. If it'd been a little lower he wouldn't have looked so uh... special.

Also broken thumb... lol

Well I do find the JoD cover a little bright but that's not really what bugged me. It was more so how plastic NiGHTS kinda looked. The eyes seemed to be made out of glass too lol. I actually prefer a tamer atmosphere for a NiGHTS cover art much like that of NiD.

JoD's cover says = C'mon everybody, come fly with me! It'll be a blast! I promise. Please

NiD's cover says= I'm not desperate. I could care less if you walk past my game case in the store but you know damn well you're gonna come straight back to me and say "What is this game about?"

The U.S. cover for NiD was okay but I love the U.K.'s cover as it was more mysterious and cooler looking. The Japanese had that "Dream Paradox" thing goin on which was pretty awesome.

Because my dad really couldn't be arsed to censor my life. My dad would let me become a stripper if that's what I really wanted in life. Of course, it's not,, but I was just making a point. It's my mother who tries to stifle my creative beliefs but she actually vaguely knows who NiGHTS is (probably from hearing me ramble about it for so long) so she knows what the franchise is about. But my dad's cool. He couldn't care less.

I promise you, when I bought JoD, the box glowed with it's shininess. And I personally think the boxart is creepy because NiGHTS is just... STARING... It still gives me nightmares. :P

My left pinky couldn't do what his is doing. The shiny cuffs annoy me, because cuffs, when they're not on Halloween costumes, are supposed to be made of cloth, not plastic. Plastic is uncomfortable. 'Course, he doesn't have wrists, so he might not feel them... I like everything else about the cover, though.

to iLLViLLAiN: He didn't seem desperate to me when I first saw the cover. It did make me wonder what the game was about, like you said NiD's did. Of course, that was the first time I ever saw NiGHTS, so I didn't have a cool 90's cover to compare to.

I kinda wonder if I'd like it more if the sky had some blue color in it, instead of being pure black.

Or, even better, if it all didn't have a pinkish tint.

Yeah, well, your mom's boxart is fruity.

But seriously, NiGHTS is a fruity game. Thus, a fruity game needs fruity boxart.
Still, I think that a CGed version of the NiGHTS, Reala, and Wizeman pic from the Art Gallery (see JoD's unlockable art gallery in the Nightmaren section) would've been freakin' SWEET as boxart.

Yeah, that would have been a nice boxart.

But maybe a bit too scary.

Otherwise, I thought the boxart was fine. Though I like the OST's cover art much better.

Yes, that picture. That would've been up in the Zelda levels of awesome boxart.

I think the boxart for JoD is beautiful. There's intricate little details here and there, the lighting is gorgeous, and the overall image is just... inviting. I also like the pose NiGHTS is in. It's a great reference for drawing as it shows one leg outstretched and one not. This boxart was also the first realization of mine that NiGHTS had theighs. Such cute, little theighs :)
