Maren Contact Lenses

I literally called EVERY eyewear place in our phone book to find local sellers of blue cat eye lenses for my Reala cosplay but I only found THREE places that sold them. (I needed prescription lenses of a specific curvature because I'm legally blind with astigmatism.)
I ended up buying mine through a local small-business optomitrist called Gold Circle Optical.
They ordered said lenses from Wild Eyes...the Jaguar model...cost: $140.
Images: looking sideways | looking up | evil grin | blank stare
They're very comfortable. <3 Even more so than my normal-use prescription lenses actually.
Here are other places that told me that they sold blue cat eye lenses: (yes, they do prescription lenses, but not for astigmatism)
-> Sterling Optical: $180 for lenses and exam
-> Lenscrafters: *never got a price quote*

Thats...insane! I wasn't even aware stuff like that existed. They look AWESOME! Although they're quite expensive...but I suppose they're more than worth it for their purpose.
Now I want a pair just to walk around with and freak my friends out XD

I'm sure they wouldn't be half as expensive if I didn't need them to be prescription. ^^""" Whoah!

gahhhhh sclerals always freak me out... how on earth do you stick that in your eyes and not have it dig into the sensitive corner part of your eye? It must be so hard to get those things in >~< *creeps out*
They're harder to get out, I hear. I've also heard that they're very uncomfortable to wear. But they win points for looking that creepy when used right.
I've heard that in most places, you have to get an eye exam before they'll even let you buy contact lenses. But I've always wondered if buying them online avoids this. I've been considering it for years now...

I think its because Americans are more likey to sue the ass off any contant lense company that damages their eyesight.
It's true, we are. I wonder if you heard about the woman who sued McDonalds because she spilled her hot coffee in her lap while she was driving? Us Americans are really inclined to sue over the most rediculous things.

It wasn't quite that simple... but yeah, seems like Americans are more sue-happy.I wonder if you heard about the woman who sued McDonalds because she spilled her hot coffee in her lap while she was driving?
To get back on topic, those lenses looks awesome! Wouldn't be able to use them though because of the astigmatism thing.

To use me as an example, I'm near-sighted. One of the reasons I switched from glasses to lenses was because when I needed stronger glasses we discovered that while I got a super clear vision, everything was double. Switching to astigmatic lenses helped for me, but I still get eye-strains if I stare at the screen or my books too long.

Yeah...I'd rather shell out the extra money and get professional advice, instructions, and precautions than kick myself for the rest of my life because I messed up my vision just to save a few bucks.Well I'd imagine if theyre just fashion lenses you could have them dropped off at your nearest optician or something... i think... who can then give you the full 80hour blahblah on why contacts are dangerous (which they are). Or disregard that completely and just import them from abroad, though you dont have any safeguards then.
I'll definitely have to consider these kinds of things now for any future cosplays...

I'm nearsighted, but I buy non-prescription colored contacts and then use glasses on top for whenever I need to see more than just where I'm going. Much cheaper and less risk of eyestrain. I've been wearing contacts on and off since I was eleven, and never got the "contacts are dangerous!" talk...hm, weird.
As long as you're supercareful with washing and storing the contacts as well as getting used to having them in, I think it won't be much of a problem.

You just...won't need a prescription is all. ^^"""I have perfect vision which unfortunately means it's going to be a royal pain in the ass to get those sclerals. Does anyone know if it's even possible for a person in the US to get a prescription for contacts if they don't "technically" need them?
You'll actually have it easier because most places I called ONLY did nonprescription costume contacts. Call up any optometry place and I'm sure they'd be more than happy to help. There's also online purchasing.
