Kaibib's Cosplay EDIT 5/19

That crown is gorgeous!
I want to play with my beads and wire, now.
The point isn't how long it takes for you to do something -- it's having it done. Something you can look back at and say, "I made that!".
It makes finding the determination to finish other things much easier.
Keep it up! It looks wonderful!

Now to test them out. Thanks for the help peeps.
It probably won't work anyway, and then I'll have to spend another week to fix it and do it all over again.
But yet, I can do it. I have to do a lot of things by myself, doesn't really matter.

It was just a matter of time before I realised that this is too much to bear, and I have better things to do... like stare into space and talk to myself. Argue with myself. Hahaha, I'm so pathetic.
Have I failed before I begun?
Doesn't matter. Nothing I do helps. I don't have any friends who bother to help either. I mean with my illness... my 'depression' is not depression, but some stupid 'inferiority syndrome' according to someone.
Basically, I believe that I am below everyone and everything, and thus they walk all over me. I then act and speak lower than them, unless there is a reason not to. (Like, say... some idiot who does drugs, smoke, and drink alcohol.)
Gah... forgot what else I was going to say.
But you all wouldn't want to hear any of that anyway.

Of all the techniques and methods I learned by doing the JoD cosplay, I look at your plans and think of what I'd do in your shoes (because I'm one of those people that sympathizes with everything that breathes) and I think, "...there's no way in hell this is gonna happen, not anytime in the near future."
I suggest, if there's even the slightest, most minuscule amount of inspiration left inside of you, to simplify the design, and perhaps attempt it again...but maybe you should give yourself some time first.

I agree with this. If you don't have the motivation, trying to force yourself to do the cosplay won't make you feel better. Take care of yourself first....but maybe you should give yourself some time first.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Take your time -- pushing your motivation beyond it's limits never helps. Take a break, and come back to it when the urge strikes you to sew something -- there's no rush.I agree with this. If you don't have the motivation, trying to force yourself to do the cosplay won't make you feel better. Take care of yourself first.
And you're not 'below' anyone. You shouldn't believe you are anything less than wonderful for one second! We don't think that of you -- we believe in you.

If you can do patterns, do you know how to make a pattern for my cosplay?

2 weeks of handsewing = torchure.

Oh and... sorry for double posting again! I'm sosososo sorry! >< I'm such a dunce.
I was just having an off day when I said I quit. I just got fed up with my sewing machine and people lying to me and getting no help. D:
Sorry. >< I MUST BE EMO! Anyway...
Also... yes, I AM going to do this project by hand until I can get a new sewing machine. >> I have to do a lot of embroidery and detail work by hand anyway. Yay for me.
I probably will never get this done. ><

Whenever I look at ANYTHING on this forum, my fingers itch to make a cosplay -- and I haven't the money to even consider it. It's one of the top things on my list to save for, though.
(And I'm under the impression that in a creative topic, when posting updates on something, you're allowed to double post.)
Hand sewing some things is fine -- but, be careful what you choose to sew by hand! It's long, hard, tedious work, and getting frustrated in the middle of it is very, very bad. If you start to get irritated, take a break -- even if you're in the middle of it. Frustration leads to tugging, screaming, and ripping. Giving yourself a much needed break can save you valuable time and money. Trust me.
I was digging through my closet yesterday and found an old book -- "The Complete Encyclopedia of Stitchery", by Mildred Graves Ryan. It's very detailed and explains things very well. It mainly covers embroidery -- I think this book has almost every embroidery stitch known to man. And the Sewing section in part 6 has helpful pointers on hand sewing and machine sewing -- along with decorative stitches that don't fall under embroidery. If you can find a copy, I would highly recommend it. Knowing some of the stitches in it might make some of the hand-sewing easier.
While you're waiting for your new sewing machine, you can always mull over the patterns a bit more -- books in craft and fabric stores and the internet are good ways to look for patterns that you can adapt! And if you need help, we're always here.

It's okay. It happens.
Sucks to hear about your sewing machine though. I must ask, though: why is it gonna take two weeks to get another one?

Because my mom will get her check from the government then. :3 I dunno what it is. I uh... I forgot what it was about, I think it had to do with the government.=B *dorky smile*

I have to wait until I get a job and my own car to even consider starting my cosplay. So, until then, I will be herte on the sidelines, cheering you on, with these tiny little pom poms of shiny.

Oh yeah... I wouldn't ask me for patterns because I SUCK ROYALLY at them. No serious.
Anyway... I also ended up with a vest that was too small.

Now I had an excuse to go the store and, lo and behold...
THEY HAD COSTUME SATIN. FRAKING YES!
I grabbed the last of the pink kind before some broad rolls along looking for a prom dress. Hahaha. Sucka. Go to Fashion Bug or something for that. You only need to make the corsage. >>; Prom sucks ass, really. I say it's a waste of time, and should be omitted from the school system entirely. Gah, people never learn.
"Whoops! Someone spiked the punch again! A dur... You silly goose kids."
I am also sorry to admit that I have been thinking to pospone this project but... I am SICK and TIRED of waiting on this! I'm doing it no matter how fugly or fat or whatever I am! I just want to do the project. I never said I was taking pictures of me in it, or even wearing it outside anyway.
I never said I was sure about going places, only that I would like to, in the finished costume.
I just want to make a beautiful costume now. I DON'T want to wait until I loose weight or have a cleaner looking face... I can't anyway. I was born ugly. No, seriously.
Fear... FEAR!!!
It's a recent picture too. Just took it the other day.

Look what I was up to today. >:3
YAY MASK MAKING WITH FOAM, FTW.
I'll paint it later. I need a break. So who do I ask to make a small NiGHTS gem for my mask?
... Oh yeah, I am willing to make Reala's too. Mwuahahaha!
I maymake them to sell too, case anyone wants one. (I had made masks before, but this is the first out of foam. I used paper mache and just normal paper, and even plastic before.)

I has a question: are you REALLY a quarter of the way finished?? O_o
I have no idea how to work with percentages with costumes, but my vest is almost to the stage where I can start adding details, I think another 5%?
Then my patterns for the blouse are almost done...
Hey, do you know if the blouse is supposed to have a shortened torso, or can I fit a full blouse under the unitard?

Okay, first -- you are by no means unattractive.
Second, if you've decided not to let body figure keep you from doing something beautiful, then good for you.
Third, photos in a creative process are an absolute must. MUST. If anyone creating a costume has any problem with putting pictures up -- it's because they aren't putting up enough pictures.
Lastly, I've been trying to make a mask for months -- my last attempt was a week ago, and it failed miserably... What kind of foam is yours made out of?
Improvisation is good! And those gems look really nice!

Just regular foam you can find in the kids' craft section at Wal*Mart. That's where I found all my little gems and gold jingle bells. xD Feathers too. (Turkey feathers ftw. xD)

Well, percentages on costumes are really in the eyes of the beholder...
I'd keep the blouse as long as reasonably possible for the time being. I think you should see how it fits under the unitard before you make any cuts...cutting and then realizing that you made the wrong decision is NOT FUN. D= I speak from personal experience!
