Ahh, NiGHTS...

Nothing quite gives you the joy of flying like it does without sending you to the hospital after drinking 34 beers and jumping off your mothers roof...

However, the game JoD as I'm sure you are all aware was far from perfect (I haven't played NiD so I'm not going to judge that one) I for one hope for tighter graphics. BUT, graphics don't make the game do they? the game needs different innovations to keep it from getting stale. I personally (and I know I won't have shared views on this one) would like an unlockable first-person-view mode that you could toggle on and off while playing as NiGHTS. Sounds unplayable? it is. But again this is OPTIONAL and you can toggle it at any given moment, and picture this.

while playing the game you switch to this mode a little radar appears at the top (or corner or whatever) so you could control NiGHTS like you normally would except now you are viewing the stage through NiGHTS eyes everything looks so small when you look down but grows at an abnormal rate as you make a rapid decent downwards.

again it sounds ridiculous (even to me) I guess I'm simply swayed by the world of which NiGHTS resides. Perhaps I'm not thinking strait well perhaps you can knock some sense into me when I check on this tomorrow. till then good NiGHT.

Tighter controls.
Bomamba stays dead, and nothing like it ever, ever comes to take it's place.
Nightopians need to feed themselves, as well as actively populate a level and interact with it, building cities and bazaars where you can buy pian things for star chips.
Personas need more practical uses.
Jackle needs to make a comeback.
Reala needs some explanation.

-Jackle returns
-Voices are eliminated
-Cutscenes are left at a minimum
-Multiplatform
-Over 999 links
-Majority of players should feel somewhat more connected to the dreamers
-Less cheery(A preferable darker and more mysterious atmosphere than the first game in the series)

That's enough from me.

Less cheery

Idk I like the cheery atmosphere but I do agree to some extent maybe a mix. with some levels being bright and cheery others being abit darker.

If it does sorry -_- I couldn't find it. so I assumed there wasn't one...

EDIT: O.K.... I just looked through 20 pages of forums just now using the words "NiGHTS game" and I am surprised to tell you all that I actually never found a topic like this one :(

I am shocked!

I noticed that topic but mine asks about what you'd want in another NiGHTS game not what you'd change in a previous one.

btw what's your input TRiPPY? :) what would YOU like to see, in a sequel?

  • Interests:I like NiGHTS, Sonic games, the Nightmare Before Christmas (I wonder what would happen if Oogie and Reala met... hmmmm.....) Writing, drawing, art in any way, shape, or form, hard rock music, dancing wildly even though I can't dance for crap. I write poetry and lyrics (although they're not very good T__T) and comedy movies. I love the Dreamcast podcast that DiGi and TRiPPY put on. I also enjoy thinking outside the box. I'm what is known as a Meathead. I can laugh at myself, think outside the box, and smile. Meatheads are smarter than your average Joe, with much more common sense and the rare ability to find creative solutions to problems. My idol is a man named Jimmy Dolittle. Look him up ^.~
1) BRING BACK JACKLE. Nuff said. Jackle is awesome. I have a recording of his cackling on loop and play it as an alarm clock. No, seriously. Jackle's voice gets me out of bed in the morning. My phone hits 5:00 AM, Jackle's voice goes. A little laughing, a little crazy babbling, and I'm off to the shower before my mother can say, "Turn that damned alarm off!"

2) Bomamba STAYS DEAD AND NEVER RETURNS. She was the most HIDEOUSLY FRUSTRATING BOSS. I LIKED fighting Queen Bella. I LIKED fighting Girania. I even liked fighting Cerberus, compared to this atrocity. But Bomamba is pure EVIL in kitty-demon form. SEGA must have been running out of ideas when they designed her. Or extremely drunk. One of the two.

3) Keep Reala's voice. Strangely, I find it attractive. *is brick'd* Well, you've got to admit, he does have this sultry, smooth aspect to his voice that almost makes you want to listen to him. He's an evil, manipulative bastard and his voice reflects that. So keep that. Because, yes, he does have this sort of inflection in his voice when he talks that just screams, "I'm evil and proud to be." You've got to admire his ambition. He's the guy you either love to hate or hate to love.

4) Get rid of that damned Owl. If you MUST have a tutorial person of some sort, let NiGHTS do it directly. It must be humiliating for NiGHTS to have to listen to an Owl prattle on about things he already knows. Yes, the Visitor doesn't understand yet, but NiGHTS does and if Visitor and NiGHTS are truly Dualized properly, then NiGHTS can talk to the Visitor and tell him/her what to do. You've seen NiGHTS talk to the Visitor in JoD. Does "Come on Will! Shall we have some fun? Let's see how many of those Rings we can fly through!" ring a bell?

5) Enough of this cheesy robotic one-boy-one-girl-problems-in-life-story. One boy, one girl is okay, but make them more realistic. What twelve-year-old knows how to play the violin anymore? What's up with their unrealistic-ness? Elliot had BLUE HAIR, people. BLUE HAIR!!! Claris wasn't much better. Little miss Pinky. The blonde hair and blue eyes of Will and Helen were more realistic asthetically, but what are the odds that two children with NOTHING to do with each other would look so alike? A little diversity here, folks. We need an albino kid or something.

6) Older characters to collaborate with issue #5. Instead of a twelve-year-old trying to play violin, how about a troubled 16-year-old who has found herself pregnant or is the victim of rape or abuse? Instead of a kid trying to make his ball team, how about a kid who's remorseful about doing drugs and dreams of a better life? I think kids who represent real issues like this would make for a much deeper and more enjoyable game than these newest two robots disguised as children. I know I personally enjoy games where I can connect with the characters on an emotional level.

7) Wizeman actually tones up his "I-Am-A-God-All-Shall-Fear-Me" act. In JoD, he seemed like he was making a forceful argument, ("Nightmare is my creation. If you were to destroy me, you would be destroying yourself as well.") but he doesn't really PROVE it. Three hits to kill? Ha! I want an epic boss battle that actually MEANS something. Something like the Sephiroth/Cloud battle in Advent Children. That movie rocked.

8) Is it too much to ask for a handful LESS gratuitous sex jokes? Reala was far too grabby in JoD, and his "How should I go about getting what I want?" comment made me grin and groan at the same time. And here I thought this was a kid's game. You know they're bad when my dad starts laughing at them. Which he did. My mother was appalled at the level of obvious innuendo.

9) LESS PLATFORMING MISSIONS PLZKTHX. The game is called NiGHTS, not SOME KiDS RUNNiNG AROUND iN CiRCLES LiKE HEADLESS CHiCKENS. Anyone else but me find Helen's Memory Forest platforming mission intolerable? I was running around in that damned forest for like, an hour. Got caught by the Awakers six times.

10) Finally, the last bit of insane ranting you'll get out of me. Change Reala's outfit. I'm not saying change it back to the old one, 'cause frankly, he looks kinda nekkid in that. I mean, put him in something crazy, like a high-collared Dracula cape and suit. 'Cause all evil guys in manga and anime and stuff wear suits and are heads of a big corporation. Or, if you can't do that, at least the cape. Just the cape will do. But the bling-bling necklace, the pink fingernails, the mask, the frills, the feathers, and the whole all-around Samurai-Got-Drunk-On-Mardi-Gras look needs to go. PLEASE. I BEG YOU SEGA.

Those are the points I make. Read them, know them, and feel satisfied in the fact that I have finally spent my insanity. Thank you for flying Air Meat Head. Please place your trays in the upright position and prepare for landing.

I think these should be added or kept:
- More info on the dreamers. Was there ever something that happened to Will that made his father his idol? how long has Helen played the violin?
- More history on NiGHTS. His background info is pretty fuzzeh. Was there ever a time where NiGHTS and Reala were friends? Did NiGHTS ever consider Wizeman a father?
- When they say something, it TIES IN. Remember when Owl said Helen's memory would go away? That was the only time her memory was mentioned.
- JACKLE. Where did Jackle go?
- Reala's voice, Wizeman's voice, and the Nightopians' voices should be kept.
- Keep the violence at a minimum. We seriously don't want to see Reala R@p1ng anyone, right? The game could use blood and a bit o' gore, but not head chopping, arm sawing type of violence.
- I'd like to see a bit more of a relationship between the dreamers and NiGHTS. In the game the dreamers just automatically trust NiGHTS and treat him like they're best friends right away. I want to see the dreamers get to know NiGHTS more.

These should be banned. Forever:
- NO MORE BOMAMBA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bloody hell she/he/it pissed me off.
- Owl must be shot. For my birthday I'm gonna go hunt down and KiLL Owl.
- When Helen walks it looks like she's drunk. Fix the way Helen walks.

The same goes for what he said right before that - y'know, about how it was a bad thing that another Visitor was in her dream? Chekov's gun people, "One must not put a loaded rifle on the stage if no one is thinking of firing it."

Oh yeah, I remember that... it reminded me of a pissed off dad scolding her daughter cuz she snuck out late with a guy.
Helen: ...thanks to a boy I met in another world.
Owl: A boy?! Did you say you met ANOTHER visitor?
when I saw that those parts never came back up I was like 'wtf...'
Could they mabye be making another NiGHTS game that talks about those more? Meh... not likely...

I agree, clarification would help, a lot. Most of the things that they said made no sense. How did they lose their other Ideya in the first place? Also, BOMAMBA MUST DIE!

In NiD we saw them getting stolen by the minions every time you started a level... now they're just in the way for NiGHTS.

An option to play the classic way as in the NiD way. Don't get me wrong, more modes is some times a good thing, but I'd rather play JoD the NiD way than to have so many different modes that I more than likely won't revisit except for the Links challenge mode.

Also no voice actors but of course that would never happen.

yeah they could do wha your suggesting get better vocals and give the option of turning the OFFFFF!!! that the one thing about sega games lately that has been pissing me off. The only thing i think they should keep is having the multi-control options that the only good thing I like about jod.

Some sort of epilogue, or something that shows what happens after the two dreamers meet each other in real life.
Actual use of the fact that they are in a dream, other than flying around with NiGHTS, they really didn't use that at all.
A dreamer that is scared of flying, I mean, it's like riding a roller coaster, it would be pretty scary at first.

The ideya are taken by the same means in both games, I assume, it's just that you don't see the actual taking of the ideya in JoD. *coughs* Now on to my list.

-Put Jackle back; he may've been second-level, but... um... he's popular? *can't think of any better reason* Seriously, we need another reason to bring this guy back than he's a lovable, possibly homicidal, crazy-face inviso-thing of muffin-glee.
-Bring back the ideya capture play, plz; that looks funcakes and could be implimented alongside the entire goodle-chase thing just before the last boss fight (having us doing one ideya per dream), and speaking of which...
-Don't make us fight the boss maren twice unless absolutely necessary! For the Wizeman fight it's okay, and Reala, too, since he's not consigned to the dream of one dreamer (same as NiGHTS, I've just realized; maybe that's another specialcakes thing of first-level maren now, and would explain well why all the second-levels were scrapped, but couldn't Jackle have been promoted???) and therefore end up fighting each once per dreamer, but Donbalon and the others didn't really need to make two appearances. Sure, it was just about the only hark back to the original ideya capture play - ending up fighting the boss immediately after getting that last Goodle - but aside from that I don't see any real purpose to it. Although... these are dreams and they can function in bizzare ways like that, and the difficulty does change significantly between the two, but... I just don't really like having to fight something I'm going to end up fighting again immediately after chasing down those Goodle. XPPP My opinion on this is suddenly wavery, but then just about any crazy-annoying thing can make sense in dreams, and fortunately one person's opinion does not a change make (unless they're the head of the game's production; he can do whatever he wants).
..... Yes, I was a bad kitty and watched spoilerage on youtube, but I knew I was never going to own a Wii (nevermind this game) and, therefore, wasn't going to get very far in the time of playing the rental on my boyfriend's Wii. ^_^;;;; I sincerely apologize... but I still want this game.
-Improve the graphics; dreams are supposed to be visually stimulating, and though the colors were just that, everyone agrees that the graphics needed improvement.
-Improve the controls, even if you need to get help; when I finally got ahold of the game (even if it was just a rental copy), and my boyfriend played it, he said this game had potential, but he just couldn't get past the poor control scheme. Hopefully this new engine we've heard about will do just that, but if Sega needs some Wii-knowledgeable help, I think they should at least ask Nintendo for the help of a spare Wii programmer or two.
-More story, but remember that NiGHTS is first and foremost, in this medium, a game. Yes, it makes story-sense that Will gets the roller-coaster & boat rides while Helen ends up platforming, but as a lot of people playing Helen's half have said, they'd much much rather be flying around as NiGHTS. Not a lot of people like platforming, and the fun of this game has been unbalanced into Will's favor as a result. I do agree that some focus needs to be taken away from NiGHTS, but platforming is not the answer; save it for the 'oh my, there's another dreamer in my dream!' bit. But it was a crying shame Sega had to remove so many tasty plot elements by the time the game actually came out; this really could've been one of the things to make it worth its original price tag ($50 in America, as a lot of you probably already know).
-Tell us who Selph is, plzkthnx. XD I don't even care if it's in the game itself; I wanna see a picture of this maren just as much as anyone else here. Granted, the original pictures are probably gone forever, and if Yuji Naka was the one who drew him, then Selph's artist isn't part of Sega anymore, so this really is just wishful thinking. ^^;;;;

Although text-scrolling could make the game much cheaper to produce, and also gives fans the ability to interpret the characters voices in any way they want, I disagree with removing spoken dialogue. When was the last time anyone here had a dream in which all of the dialogue consisted of scrolling text? The only reason I'd think people would even have a dream with this element for even a few seconds would be that they've played too many video games. It's my personal opinion that replacing the spoken dialogue with scrolling text would detract from the dream-like quality of the game unnecessarily. In other words, it is my opinion that, for all the 'evils' that come with voice acting, it shouldn't be scrapped, although I'm not going to whine if it is. After all, ditching the voice acting could free up more of the budget for the actual production of the game itself, and therefore make the game better.

EDIT: To people suggesting adult-world mega-angst, may I remind you what age group NiGHTS is presently geared at? *points @ 6-13 year olds... not entirely sure she's right* This may improve the game for you personally, but do they seriously need exposure to such things? Remember the age group, plzkthnx.

What I would like to see is the voices coming back, maybe some text scrolling and some cool cutscenes and levels!

My opinion of JoD was very unfavorable, basically everything they changed I didn't like.
So, I tried to write this primarily from the perspective of comeing from NiD, but I had to mention a few big No No's that JoD pulled:

Add some short, primarily wordless intros to the levels that only play the first time through.

Use the Hedgehog Engine (the one for Sonic Unleashed), meaning Xbox/PS3. I don't know what the heck they were thinking releasing JoD on the Wii.

Don't change NiGHTS's design (ie, remove his second most distinguishing feature, which IMO, is his collar).

I'd want to see Self (Selph is not the correct spelling), whether as part of the story, or just a random extra.

I don't know what the heck to do about draw distance, NiD's draw distance was minuscule, and that was intentional, to keep you from feeling like you were in a cave. Perhaps just make the levels topless, and just adopt the philosophy, "you can go up there, but there's nothing to do." Or is there...

Don't change NiGHTS's design (ie, remove his tail bone).

Make sure to get the control exactly the same as the original.

Don't be stupid and change Reala's appearance. Don't be even more stupid and change his voice.

Don't change NiGHTS's playful nature, he's NiGHTS, not Sonic lite.

Don't be stupid and make NiGHTS Too Dumb to Live.

The Levels in JoD seem bland and lifeless when compared to those from NiD. They seem too based in reality.

And keep in mind, NiGHTS is a much more interesting character than any of the brats dreamers.

Sorry for reviving such an old thread XD

Sooo, if there was another NiGHTS game, I'd like it if it had the good things of the last two games. Like Levels as big as in JoD but some of them need to be more creative and even more important they need to be more lively! Pians everywhere like in NiD XD Also Pians should take care of themself again, but you could still hug and pet them as kid or do other funny things with them. They could also do Minigames and on-foot missions again, but they need to improve the on foot missions, and both the minigames and on-foot missions should be an optional thing, nothing you need to do to finish the story. The kids should be in a more manga-like way again, it's more original and it makes them look soo uber adorable x3 I'm not so sure, if they should talk or not... both ways have some good things about them. If the characters talk you can see what they are like better, but if they dont you can use your fantasy and imagine how they would be like, so I guess I'm going with NiGHTS and the kids being mute again. About the number of levels, I think they can stay with the 4 per kid again, HOWEVER , instead of making more levels, they should do more versions of each level. Like a normal one, a christmas one and a halloween one. Or maybe something like the dreams display seasons? Not exactly sure about that but one of those ideas surely would be nice xD Also I'd like some kind of Boss Arena, where you must finish the OLD bosses as fast as you can. We need the NiD Bosses, like Puffy, Jackle and Gulpo back damnit! And they need to leave the Persona Masks out... They dont suit NiGHTS and Reala and the transformations were kinda pointless, except for Rocket, but Rocket NiGHTS looks ugly>.< Mermaid NiGHTS is so much cooler than Dolphin NiGHTS!xD

I loved the first game.. I'm not sure why they changed the formula at all.

Things that need to go:

Voices - keep the dreamlike quality of the original; sometimes it's nice to have to interpret rather than be force-fed the plot.

Night's new costume - update the old one a little, but don't completely change something that's so nostalgic (and better to boot)

Owl - tutorials are irritating... Nights should be simple enough to not need one ... additionally, figuring out the first game was part of what made it fun

Mini-game Aspects - Hopefully this won't be a problem anymore since Sega USA (Sonic Team USA) left San Francisco for Japan... Sega has put way too much emphasis on mini-games. I prefer a seamless game-play experience rather than having to complete a new mini-game/platforming section every other level.

"12" year old kids who look like they're 9 - I really don't know what Sega was going for with Will and Helen. Little kids would rather play older, cooler characters. While adults generally lose interest when the main characters are too young. There's a reason why most anime series focus on late middle school (14/15 in Japan) or high school aged characters.

Personas - it sounded kinda cool at first, but I'd rather not have Nights' powers be derived from items. It's more fun when he just changes to suit the situation.

JoD Bosses - either bosses that are just minigames in disguise (read Bomamba) or bosses that are clearly rip-offs of older bosses (Donbalon = Puffy, Girania etc).

Things I'd like to see:

New Levels - there were too many copycat levels in JoD. I'd love to see some of the NiD levels, if Claris and Elliot are in the game. But I'd also like to see completely new levels that take their inspiration from something other than the original.

New/More Dreamers - I'd love to have a Nights game with more than just 2 dreamers. 4+ dreamers with 13+ levels would be great. It'd be nice to see a male character whose life didn't revolve around sports and a female character whose life didn't revolve around music.

Older Claris and Elliot - It'd be nice to see Claris and Elliot aged 12 years like the original fanbase. I think this would open a number of interesting possibilities: plot continuation, more complex themes/levels etc.

"Japanocentric" culture/game play - Japan sells. Eurocentric JoD was a lot less visually/conceptually appealing.

If another Nights game were made (and I hope one is made), I just hope that it's made by Sonic Team in Japan and not farmed out like so many other "Sega" games.

Things that have to stay-

-The Eurpean atmosphere. I love Twin Seeds as much as the next guy, but every game company seems to have an "American" game (Sega- Sonic, Nintendo- Mario) and a "European" game (Sega- NiGHTS, Ninty- Zelda). The ones with a more American character/setting tend to be the mascot who has a sequel every year, whilst the one with a European atmosphere are classier and have a few games, all of which are excellent.

-NiGHTS' new costume. I like it, but hey, I like frills and other facy stuff (Gawd! I sound like Puff the Magic Dragon...)

-Owl, albeit as an OPTION. Whilst most everyone here hates him, he makes the game sooooooo much easier to explain to a six year old. Trust me, when you make some one play NiGHTS, "listen o the Owl" is much easier to say than becoming the NiGHTS encyclopedia.

-Minigames. By this point, Arcen hates me, because all of my things to stay are his/her things to go. Annnnnywho, the minigames ahould stay. I Love NiD, but face it, sometimes it can get a tad repetitive. *gets attacked by an angry mob* The minigames in addition to the regular levels varried tha gameplay, and I enjoyed them.

-Personas. NiGHTS should change forms. I think the masks were a pretty touch

Things that have to go-

-Voices. I did like them, but it was fun to come up with your own idea of how the character sounds.

-Shrink the levels. I loved exploring in NiD, the levels were proportioned to the characters. JoD, however had HUGE levels that one could not possibly explore. I did like the other areas being shown during the minigames.

-Old Bosses (yes, even Reala) They are repetitive. In the original game Reala was just another maren. A cool maren, but just part of the heard. The same goes for Jackle- new dreamers dream of new things. Two boss fights are annoying as well...

-Gender Roles. Not every boy likes sports, and not every girl likes music. Let's give the dreamers some variety.

-One ideya of each colour per person. Come on, in NiD, everyone had ONE ideya that represented their personality. In JoD, the dreamers have one of each. Nobody's perfect, one eadeya per person.

New stuff-

-Selph. 'nuff said.

-Make Nightmare Nightmareish. I'd go for a trippy Tim Burton-esque Nightmare a la Puffy's mansion, not the drab world of Gulpo. It should be dark, but funny.

I hardly hate you :P Everyone is entitled to his own opinion. And, to be honest, I quite like mini-games when they're either seamlessly integrated into the game or separate unlockable features that aren't integral to game completion. NiD had a number of mini-games which are nearly indistinguishable from the game itself. JoD forces you to play things that are obviously mini-games, and most of them are tedious. And, while they may vary overall gameplay, having to get A's on some of them is just a pain.

I love Twin Seeds as much as the next guy, but every game company seems to have an "American" game (Sega- Sonic, Nintendo- Mario) and a "European" game (Sega- NiGHTS, Ninty- Zelda). While, as I stated earlier, I prefer a Japanese (modern not historical) influenced atmosphere, the atmosphere of the game shouldn't necessarily be derived from any one specific culture, but should reflect a world appropriate to the game. That said, I'm not sure why Nights should have a European setting, as dreams have no specific locale.

The games you chose to represent the two cultures are rather interesting. If you judge their excellence by sales, then the American games would be considered better. Super Mario: Galaxy sold 7.15m copies while Zelda: TP sold 4.83m copies. Sonic and the Secret rings sold 1.81m copies while JoD sold 0.2m copies (numbers from VGChartz.com). I prefer Zelda and Nights to Mario and Sonic, but sales are what speak to developers.

When I was six no games had tutorials, and they were still playable and fun. The present trend is to overcomplicate games, requiring tutorials as a result. I've never met a six year old (or a 20+ year old) who wants to sit through a tutorial. Nights isn't so complex that it requires more than a few screen shots of what to do. That said, the option of a tutorial is far preferable to a forced tutorial.

-Personas. NiGHTS should change forms. I think the masks were a pretty touch

Nights should change forms; it's one of his most endearing qualities. I just don't understand why his freedom should be limited by arbitrary masks. When you encounter an obstacle in a dream, it's either resolved by some oddly inexplicable method (in my experience) or you dwell on it as an insurmountable roadblock. Personally, I've never had to go get anything special in a dream -- it's usually there when I need it.

-Gender Roles. Not every boy likes sports, and not every girl likes music. Let's give the dreamers some variety.

I agree entirely. Though I suspect Sega USA, absent of any ingenuity or originality, essentially copied the original game's premise, changing enough so that it would seem to be a different game.

-One ideya of each colour per person. Come on, in NiD, everyone had ONE ideya that represented their personality. In JoD, the dreamers have one of each. Nobody's perfect, one eadeya per person.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by this. In NiD the dreamers started with each ideya, and then had to collect them all back, except courage. It was integral to the gameplay and the story.

Additionally I was thinking about what I would like to see in a new game, and remembered how much I hated the JoD interface. I like how quickly you can navigate to the level of your choice in NiD. Having to run to the stage, deal with owl, run back and forth to decide what to play, etc was just annoying. Menus should be clean and easy to navigate.

Is that a contradiction? :P Also, what distinguihes "Modern" Japan? I'm curiouss.

If you judge their excellence by sales

I was not. While Sonic and Mario have had TONS of megahits, would you consider "Mario Is Missing" excellent? Hardly. Conversely, Zelda's worst reviewed game, "Wind Waker" is rather poopular. Sonic is widely considered to be past his prime, although his games sell well. NiGHTS, with three games (I consider Xmas NiGHTS it's nown game), is at it's prime. Maybe I should explain better next time.

I agree wholeheartedly. That's why I think Owl should be an opition. NiD was perfect- when you made a mistake, you got a little screen telling you what to do to improve.

I just don't understand why his freedom should be limited by arbitrary masks

I understand, but the personas WERE pretty

Sorry, my wacky interpretation of the game. For some inexplicable reason I though they were other people's ideya. Now I realize my craziness.

What I mean by modern Japan is Japanese culture, it's cities and sense of aesthetic now, as opposed to that of historic Japan with samurai and feudal lords. It's like comparing modern European culture to its past.

I actually hadn't considered "Mario is Missing". When I think of Mario or Sonic games I tend to disregard the horrible spinoffs. So for Mario I pretty much just consider Mario 1-3, Super Mario, Mario 64, Mario Sunshine (horrible game) and SM:G. Paper Mario, Mario Kart and other good games come to mind, but I don't think of them in the sequence of real Mario games.

Unless Sonic Unleashed is amazing, then it's long past time for Sega to have put him to bed. All the Genesis, Game Gear, Sega CD and Dreamcast games were great. It's too bad that Sega couldn't handle the transition from its own systems to being a 3rd party developer.

As much as I love Nights, I would hardly say it's in its prime. 200k copies of JoD is dismal. Maybe Trippy or someone else would know better, but with such low sales numbers I would guess that they had to have lost money on the game. I would love to see Nights attain the glory that his predecessor once had. Sega just needs to regain the focus it had in the 90s.

I have to agree though that while Sonic and Mario (and Nights, let's be truthful: JoD is no shining success; we all love it because NiD is so freaking good--we'd probably have bought it if it were just a single level -- or even less -- just to perpetuate our fanaticism) are variable in quality, Zelda has always maintained a certain level. Wind Waker, as much as I hate it, is a decent game.

I just hope that Sonic Team Japan can pull the sh!t out of the fire while there's still something left to salvage.

Hey, I don't have to type all this stuff (in other words, QFT)
Except for the last one, Twin Seeds strikes me as some kind of bizarre combination between a big city and a Mediterranean city (not really European).

And I think they slid NiGHTS too much to the girly side of things in JoD, BUT eliminating most of the voices fixes most of this on it's own.

To be honest, I DON'T want to see another game, after what sega did to Sonic (Not to mention the fans) I'd hate to see that happen to NiGHTS, sega killed my interest in Sonic enough as it is, the fans destoroyed it completely, I don't want to have my interest in NiGHTS killed next............

I could make a long list about all the little stuff that could make it an awesome game but, to sum it up,

I'd just want them to put in some effort, even more enthusiasm, and a lot of heart. Since it is about dreams, a NiGHTS game must be viewed in a more subjective and mystical way than the typical game. I get annoyed that they seemed to treat JoD as a small-cash game. If only they wanted to put the time into making it good, then it would probably be good.

To be honest I too would be worried about seeing another NiGHTS game...
This is mostly a futile attempt at picking out what would pick NiGHTS back up and send him beyond... but... I believe in the power of futility...
