Righty people, I've been given the go ahead to promote the event that SEGA have been poking us admins with sticks about. (We were easily swayed by vast amounts of merch >_>)

But first! I have to run to my FTP and upload the official details.

So give me a few minutes(hours) to sort that out ;D

*doodles something amusing fast for page*

Go read the news. I WANT TO SEE YOU LOT TURN UP IN COSPLAY. Or be doomed. Most of you will probably be doomed i'm guessing. Lol.

*wishes she could go, but she couldn't even go to the Anime Convention in her own state for the gas mileage and sheer time* Are you gonna cosplay Vallerz, DiGi? *smacks self for even asking that question, but she hasn't eaten breakfast yet* That's probably a 'no', since TRiPPY's already been working on a cosplay (as far as I think I've heard) and really doesn't need to stress herself out making two. ^^;;;;;

Martin might well be tagging along taking video etc.

I would like to press upon everyone that you don't have to appear as anyone SEGA specific, you can come as ANYONE from ANY games, manga/anime that've had a game, wtv.

I also now have an avatar thanks to that image, though I still need Angelus wearing a NiGHTS or Reala hat methinks XD

Lol poor Martin, the minute FF cosplayers see cameras in any shape or form they FLOCK like a flocking... thing. He will be carried away in a cloud of Clouds.

Ahaha I'll draw you your avatar eventually, i meant to do it ages ago along with DiGi's new one but work/life kinda squished my art. Do you have any full size refs of Angelus though? I needs.

edit-
I want someone to turn up dressed as SubZero from Mortal Kombat, I'll tell you all my reasons one day >_> It's an epic story.

I'm just prepping a major email to all our contacts, the blog is scheduled to go live soonish as well but lets get behind this guys!

Ah!Ah!

When I was 10 I actualy made a Sub Zero costume for this school contest back in Portugal. ;)

I kind of had to type quickly before as I was in Uni with windows full of C++ coding and HTMl tagging so could not give this my full attention.

Are you going as that awesome NiGHTS costume you made Trippy as I would love to see you in that if you allow me to do so. ^__^

I really want to go but not if I end up all lonely by myself due to no friends really being into that sort of thing. It is lucky that I only have one tutorial on that day so most of the day is free. If there is anything I can be of help remember that I live in central London and I got a pretty big house.

If I am going then I need to think of a costume or improve my Assassin one since the place will be flooded with Mario people for sure. :P

Yup I'll be wearing my infamously shiny/nutzo costume. It'd be really cool if you could come along ;) I'm not sure how long it lasts for so i don't think anyone would be wandering around feeling lonely in a group of cosplayers.

*looks at the date* 18 days to go! get your thinking cap on XD

Yes I wish I had a camera to take a photo but this literally happened when I was about 10 so 10 years ago! I was so happy that day because I got the whole licra suit with the blue stripes and made a mask that made me look really different. I even tried doing ice effects with paper mache, glue and a lick of colour! :D

I suppose the costume is all but gone mouldy by now in my wardrobe back in Portugal. ;)

Since there's about three I will definetly star doing bits whenever I can then and thanks for the encouragement. It would be nice for all of us that make it to get together and you got to let me see that super nice costume and if your curious I can send you a link of where the Assassin lies. :P

I havent touched a sewing machines in 2 years since I finished my Textiles GCSE so it should be very funny to see if I can even do a stitch! :P

Also Kevin get Martin to come in his uber cool Ninja suit as he could give Ryu Hayabusa a run for his money. ;)

Though, it's for *another* event...ho hum. Stupid...country...distance...meh! *makes grabby motions in the general direction of the UK*

The thing that's awesome about cosplaying NiGHTS is that you don't have to be all awkward-feelin' if you see someone else cosplaying him. Mmm, dream paradox.

I want to...

...but 18 days, I dunno, very short notice for the cosplaying inept. XD

My two choices at the moment would be to finish my Smyte costume...so it looks good and doesn't fall apart (though I would need new "Shoes"), or do something quick and easy...I'm thinking Elliot...I've used him as a PSO character before..the only issue would be SHORTS, in MARCH in the UK. XD

I'll have to give it some thought, though, would have to book a hotel room and all that stuff, travelling 6 and a half hours to be there for 11 AM would be described as not fun. XD

Well I never really seen anything as close to NiGHTS before anyway and it really looks like our androgynous buddy! The only NiGHTs costume that I ever seen besides yours was that SEGA girl last year at TGS . ;)

I cant wait to see what people come up with which will hopefully involve :

Alex Kidd
The flag man from outrun
that funny box from metal gear solid
Zack from Zack and Wki because pirates rule!
Link and Zelda!!! :D
Ecco somehow with bin liners painted blue!
Ulala!!!!!!!
Nero from DMC4. :(
Azel from Panzer Dragoon Orta
Axel from Streets of Rage

So many possibilties of costumes that people might do and too many for me to choose from. :P

The first time I read that I totally forgot about the American differences in the use of the word pants XD
I actually did spend a minute wondering..."how would that help?"

But, yeah, I was considering using just regular trousers of a reasonable colour, then using a wire to make them real puffy at the bottom, so they look like REALLY big shorts, but don't leave my legs bare. XD
And after trackiong down an actual image as opposed to going from my unreliable memory, it seems to be more accurate.

I really hope people do come to this event. I've actually got college on those days but i've told them i'm not coming in because of this event. They totally understood and said they were ok about it. Seriously, people...if you guys live in the UK yet are unable to attend because you're elsewhere, try and come anyway. This might be the only time they do something like this and we need as many people as we can get.

I have to admit, the timing for this event is really quite awkward. It's on a Tuesday in the morning and our target audience is kids and general gamers...and kids and general gamers tend to be at school during those times. :(
I'm really hoping the word spreads fast so a lot of people turn up. Something like this doesn't happen very often around the UK and it would be a shame for it to be missed.

Once again, if you live in the UK, please try and come for this thing.

I look forward to seeing the pictures. Seems SEGA's happy about the event with a rather funny news post

SEGA & Guinness Team Up For World Record Cosplay Event! (facebook link)

SEGA & Guinness Team Up For World Record Cosplay Event!
11:03pm Today
Yes, you read that right - UK gaming fans are being invited to don the mantles of their favourite games characters and head to London on March 18th to break the World Record for the largest gathering of games characters - and we're involved (the only games company to get behind it as well, so nyah to the rest of you) check out the blog post on the attached link for more information.

They link to this blog post:

So I've had Jetix email me and now the Guinness Book of Records! Guinness World Record's Gamer's Edition will be attempting the 'Largest gathering of Games characters' on March 18, 10.30 for 11am at the Millenium Bridge, London and are looking for all cos players and gamers to come down and make Guinness World Record history!

SEGA are teaming up with Guinness to support the event, with Sonic himself in attendance to wow the crowds as well as one of his other fellow SEGA Superstars NiGHTS.

So if you think you could maybe make a good Dr. Eggman, Knuckles, Amy Rose or even be someone non-SEGA like the King of All Cosmos (Katamari Damacy), Master Chief (Halo) Dante (Devil May Cry) or Gabe Logan (Syphon Filter) then we want to see you there so we can bust that record! To register please e-mail gamesgathering@guinnessworldrecords.com

All characters will appear in the Guinness World Record Gamers Edition 2009 plus on the website as well as receiving a gift for their efforts!

The record attempt celebrates the inaugral Guinness World Record Gamer's Edition that is on sale now and is bursting with new records, high score statistics and fascinating facts.

In addition Guinness World Records are also searching for the next new gaming record breaker to join the hallowed ranks of the book. Applicants are being encouraged to upload their scores on the Gamer's Edition website, http://gamers.guinnessworldrecords.com to enter the challenge.
