why don't people want it?

As for me, I love this game. Absolutely love it. Yes, it could have been better, but then again no game is perfect. Not even Mario Galaxy. Though it's pretty close . Unlike a lot of other games I own, this game keeps me coming back. Every now and then I think to myself, "I want to play NiGHTS for a bit", and I will. Twilight Princess can't even do that for me and I love that game too. I've convinced a few other people to get it and try it out. They liked it, but weren't too sure about it and considered getting rid of it. I told them to keep it and now they're doing the same thing I am, playing it off and on. This isn't a hardcore game that you will play every day of your life, but it has just the right appeal to keep you hooked. It's just getting everyone else to understand that.
And I'm spent.

It's just that JoD was way too liberal with what it had already, and, like most problems when a game is too liberal and in this position, it didn't know what to do with itself. Looking at how people responded to JoD, I can say the community is really conservative nostalgic wise. We all wanted something that was like the original. Some people loved JoD and put aside what might have been wrong with it because it was a NiGHTS game, or because they didn't see the flaws as flaws, but rather bonuses (i.e.: NiGHTS's female voice; NiGHTS's big butt (that's a flaw 8D?) ); others found its flaws sticking out like a sore thumb and ended up feeling like there was so much wrong with the game that could've been fixed, and that it was so bad that it was painful to play.yeah, but i really am baffled to how a huge majority of the fans dislike the sequel, i really dont uderstand it. aww well
I can't pick it up; both emotionally (arguments with friends; fandom splits and complaining), and physically ("Load times are too long D8!"; "Some of the graphics look like something from the PS1"; "Too unexciting and not enough interest for me anymore" ).
The other problem is, when the game was liberal with its changes, sometimes it just... made the wrong choices (for some people). That's another problem; and that causes A LOT OF PEOPLE want the old back when the new is TOO NEW. Let me rattle off a few:
- VOICE
- Suit
- Setting (British Setting)
- New Characters
- NiGHTS, who some fans saw less and less happy-go-lucky as he was in NiD, was once again happy-go-lucky
- Villian portrayal (see above)
(Btw, NO, I'm not talking about politics sillies. Liberal and Conservative can apply to moar than just '08 Elections).
Also, I noticed that the older I get, the less I will accept things for the way they are. I think we can all agree to this. When we were young, our parents would tell us "Don't do that", and we didn't. Now, our parents tell us "Don't do that", and we obviously won't listen because we're adults ourselves (or young adults; and if you're not a young adult I'm not sure if you're allowed to be on here ;3). It's the same with sequels and adaptions; WHEN I WAS a young boy (Note: 11 or 12 (AHAHA) ), I use to accept Sonic X and I loved it. As I got older, I didn't like it anymore. I didn't accept it for what it was; I noticed the flaws and I noticed things that were wrong with it (IMO). As we get older, we don't just say "Ok, it's like this 8D!"; we say "No; it should be like THIS". Not everyone gets like that. And, in childhood, a lot of us were spoiled brats (>3), and said "No; it should be like THIS" for some things. But, I can say myself that whenever a legitimate company made something, I always accepted it for what it was and never questioned it. As I got older, I questioned it and decided that I don't have to accept mediocre attempts at things.
If that was kinda long, here's my point:
- Not everyone is going to accept JoD for what it is. Some people are going to enjoy it and ignore what others found wrong in it; others will see what was wrong with it and not accept it.
Or you could be like me, who sees what's wrong with it, and is indifferent about it.

1. I have no wii.
2. The game made an average score on most sites. So far as I researched, they said similar things. For example, lack of control, or gameplay needs work.
3. The value is not worth the effort they put into it. I think I would get a use game of NJOD or find the game at a discounted price. Right after I own a wii. LOL
4. Story is not to complicated. So, I don't expect replay too much on this game for the original price.

I don't think it was only "They did new things >(", it was also that they didn't do a good enough work with those things. I.e. voices - Wizeman's VA is perfect, but everyone else have their ups and downs. Sure, nothing cringe-worthy in itself (aside IMO from Reala's giggling), but Sega should've be able to get VA's who can act without either overdoing it or sound uninterested. Combine this with some of the dialog and you can see why people complain about the voices. And note that it's just ONE of the problems they had with JoD.
I like the game, I really do, but that doesn't mean I can't see or understand why people complain.

I have to wonder why they didn't just go multi-platform on this one, not all Sega refugees went to Nintendo after all. Were the motion controls really that integral to the gameplay? I'm actually asking, I have no idea how the game plays, really.

Considering how most of us here either used the nunchuk or the Gamecube controller, I have to say "no, it wasn't". Which is a damn shame considering the motion control 1. was why they chose Wii and 2. could've been perfect for this type of game. Were the motion controls really that integral to the gameplay?

1. Since Sega pretty much ruined Sonic, people think they ruined NiGHTS as well.
2. Sonic the hedgehog
3. No advertisments of the game.
4. Sonic the hedgehog
5. Price of the game counsol.
6. Sonic THE hedgehog
7. A lot of people never even heard of the character
8. SONIC THE hedgehog
9. Being a less noticed game
if i was saying "Sonic the hedgehog" a lot of times is because people like him to not even notice NiGHTS.
ever since Sonic Heroes, all of the games Sega creates are now lame (except NiGHTS, he's cool)

That too; I wonder why I didn't add that o3o. I'm sorta like that; I sorta like it, but I can see where things would be better.Or like me, who liked it but can defiantly see where they went wrong.
If I may be honest, I don't think Sonic was such of a motivator in the 'to purchase, or not to purchase' choice of the public. I think it was more "Is this a good game, despite its frilliness?", or "Even if this is fun, this is too childish and/or frilly for me."if i was saying "Sonic the hedgehog" a lot of times is because people like him to not even notice NiGHTS.

1. Poor voice-acting. [not the voices, but the people doing them]
2. Game was far too short. What little replay-value there was was far too redundant.
3. If the game /was/ fanservice, Sega didn't listen to us too well. Jackle was gone, they ruined Reala, the replaced the old Dreamers, and changed around too much of the gameplay.
4. Related to reason 3, I dislike the new 'get the key' thing in comparison to the 'collect chips to save the ideya' idea from the original game.
5. Pian Garden was fail. Period. You would think with as much as they did with the Chao Gardens, they could give us NiGHTS fans some depth with raising and breeding pets.
6. Holiday themes were only apparent in the Pian Garden. I liked it when the levels changed based on the holiday in NiD.
Overall, it just didn't feel the same. I understand they wanted to attract new fans, but even some people who were very interested in the game that I knew felt a bit let down.
Oh well. Better luck next time? Or maybe we shouldn't go there? :/

I bet Nintendo could make it better. Ooh, that's right, I went there.
No, but in all seriousness, I don't want them to keep trying with NiGHTS like they did with Sonic. They really haven't 'ruined' NiGHTS (yet) and I think they should leave him as he is now. Sure, maybe if they try again it could be better, but I doubt it. I still love his cameos though. Those can continue.
And note to Sega: making a game on Xbox or PS3 with better graphics will NOT instantly make the game better. Room for improvement in the graphics department? Yes. Instant win? No.

Amen to that. If they try and take that direction, I may just have to punch a few of them in the face and/or nads. =='

I agree with you. Nintendo has known what it's doing since Day 1, and they continue to work to get money and keep their PR in-touch. Microsoft, Kojima, Nintendo, Valve, they all do that. They all work with their customers and audience to get what will make both sides happy. SEGA works like EA has been; just wanting to get money and keep their company alive.I bet Nintendo could make it better. Ooh, that's right, I went there.

I'm psyched about NiGHTS in BLOOOOOOM, but, look at Sonic for the 360 and PS3. That failed so hard it wasn't funny. And, I don't have my hopes up about Sonic Unleashed; I feel they're stretching it WAAAY TOO MUCH for their AUDIENCE, and shoving us to the side. At least Nintendo can give us a fanservice that's enjoyable :\.

I agree with animejosse, in respects to "...but can defiantly see where they went wrong." For it being a thrown together NiGHTS game that had a really tight deadline, it was acceptable. But, they really should have listened to their fans.
I also agree with iNSOMNiAC. I would have rather played something closer to the original. Now, I'll probably never experience what it's like to "save the Ideya," or see what an Ideya capture, or palace or whatever it's called. Yes, I feel very, very, very let down.
CrazyInABottle, I agree with you too. I don't want them to keep trying with NiGHTS either. If it didn't work the first time, then let it go. Work harder and longer, not necessarily faster. We have seen what happens to games when they work through them fast and skip the quality. Utter disappointment.
SEGA: Don't ruin NiGHTS like you have Sonic. Sonic was my childhood hero. Because of you, unfortunately, not anymore. I don't see Sonic as "cool" anymore. Please leave NiGHTS alone until you have thought long and hard about you've done.
Seriously...
P.S.: Guys please don't hate me, I was just expressing my opinion. >.< I'm Sorry! That's the way I feel... T.T

To tell you the truth I haven't played it yet though I've seen 50% of the game thanks to Derfsonic on YouTube. I don't even know if that gives me to go to say what I think of the game. Still, the game doesn't say Nintendo so that's another reason I don't think a lot of people want it. I dunno. I'm tired lolSo just a question. What did you guys think of what I posted? Pretty much the same as everyone huh? JoD should have been more spectacular. I really do feel left out, ripped off and disappointed with the game. Doesn't mean I still don't enjoy it, though. I still play it.
