Yesterday when I tested the beta, I tried to use some random action replay codes... and do you know what? Take a look at this :

Posted Image

Yes, I have discovered the code to activate this f*cking debug mode!
And do you know what, again???

It works on the retail version!

Check this out!

isn't it wanderful?

For now I still get some crash and I can't access to all options but I'll give you the codes later when I get new details.
There is no menu to select the things you want to do, so you need to press some buttons and hope the game will not crash...

I'll give you those code later if you want to test it, enjoy!

EDIT :

Ok guys, after some days of research, I have enough details, so here's the codes you need :

Has you probably know, SEGA has deleted the Debug Menu access. But the Debug Mode is still in the game! You just need an action replay to activate all options you want to (because there is no menu to select them).

Master code
F6000914 C305
B6000B00 0000

160FFC1C 0008 : Activate the Debug Mode

Controls :

-- Unpaused --
X : give you the Ideya of the current Mare (you don't see it but you can dualize)

-- Paused --
A / B : next frame
X : go to the Nightmaren (crash if you are already in the Nightmaren)
Z : crash the game (in my mind, it displayed the Debug Menu, but since it was deleted, you get a crash instead)
R : hide all data in the screen (to make some beautiful screenshots!)
L+R+Y : display the Sound Test of the level and the DSS INFO

Now, I found some other debug options that you can't activate without the Debug Menu :

160FFC1C xxxx

0001 : Unlimited Time
0002 : ???
0004 : ???
0008 : Activate the Debug Mode
0010 : Make your own demo (start a new game, press A+B+C+START when you've finished)
0020 : ???
0040 : Ideya Capture test (you can't finish the mare)
0080 : ???
0100 : ???
0200 : ???
0400 : Display time and score tables (pause)
0800 : ???
1000 : ???
2000 : ???
4000 : Hide all data (same as L button in the debug mode)
8000 : ???

Concerning the "???" I already tested them but I didn't notice something usefull (but only some various bugs)

If you want to activate several options, you just have to add numbers (becareful, it's hexadecimal, so 0008+0002=000A, not 0010)

If you notice something I did not, feel free to post it here ^^

Enjoy!

Nice!!! I actually just bought an action replay cart for some JP shmups, so I'll have to try this when I get it. What's the code? Thanks.

Things on my to do list:

Fix my Saturn
Get an AR cart for it.
Play NiGHTS with unlimited time. =w= Always wanted to do that.

How much would an AR cart cost nowadays, though? D:

I don't know but no very much...

I edited the Master Code, now you can apply those codes with NiGHTS and Xmas NiGHTS too.

What's interesting is that unlimited time would get probably get you several thousands of points when you get Ideya to the Ideya captures.

I write poetry and lyrics (although they're not very good T__T) and comedy movies. I love the Dreamcast podcast that DiGi and TRiPPY put on. I also enjoy thinking outside the box. Meatheads are smarter than your average Joe, with much more common sense and the rare ability to find creative solutions to problems. My idol is a man named Jimmy Dolittle. Look him up ^.~
Damn! And again, I say, Damn! I have no way to test any of these codes and I'm sad. My Saturn went boom in an explosion of fiery doomness in the name of science.

*sighs and sits back and watches everyone else have fun*

Damn, it's gym class all over again!!!

Oooh that would be cool!

I'm guessing there isn't a debug mode on the ps2 version, at least not the same one that's on the original saturn. Maybe a new one??

The ps2 version is a complete rewrite, and even the saturn version on the ps2 isn't the original saturn game, it's just the ps2 version with old style graphics.

I assume one would only need to hack the PS2 version and make codes for it.

Plus the PS2 should be easier to hack.

So it's not completely identicle? See I've not played it so I don't know what the old graphic version is like with the PS2.

Yep that's right. A lot of people probably wouldn't notice the differences but I personally don't like the controls on the PS2 version, so I will always go back to the original Saturn.

NiGHTS seems a bit slower while dashing, which makes certain links near impossible now, and dash balls don't give you the same sort of boost that they used to. Some of the enemies also act differently and seem better at kicking your butt! The stunt ribbon glitch is still there but it's also a bit different so some people are better with it, but I'm nowhere near as consistent as I am on the Saturn.

Back on topic, if someone knows how to hack the PS2 version and find a debug mode that would be pretty cool. I'd be willing to help if someone can give me some direction.
