Hi folks, i spent about 30 minutes adding everyones friend codes to my diary. But only 1 of them shows up as being 'there' the others all say 'checking'. My diary doesnt connect and update, also i can't do any online 2 player stuff because it disconnects when search for a friend or random player.

Though i had a different outcome in the My Dream area when trying to invite Jof (the only one that shows up), we can chime eachother but neither of us can access eachothers gardens e_e wtf.

I need to know if this is just because my Wifi connection (i use a rubbishy dongle with decent broadband) is too weak to beam stuff over, or if anyone else is having similar problems. If so, how did you fix it?

Will i need to buy a USB/wii connector instead of a dongle?

Same thing happened to me, I doubt anything is wrong with your Nintendo or connection.
Must be their server or something. oo

I had quite a few problems initially when I went to use the Nintendo WFC. The easiest way I found to fix it was to change the wireless channel it was connecting on. My Wii hates the lower wireless channels (1-3) and it's had the best performance on channel 11.

In addition, if you're using a wireless-g connection, that won't work. The wii only has an 802.11-b chip inside of it, which led to much frustration when I set up my router. Since you're using a dongle, and not a router, you might be stuck with 802.11-g and you need to find something backwards-compatible.

Hope that helps :)

I had the same problem playing over the world the last time I tried. Wi-Fi is fine with me.
I was in My Dream, Trying to play with someone over the world. It kept giving me an error or saying the other person woke up from their dream. I don't know what to do, sorry DX It might be that Wi-Fi is just down.
Can you connect to the internet on your Wii? Or the Shop Channel?

However, lately I have focused more on my computing course so have not done much. :)
It is working fine as I just been on it but maybe it could also be that the other people you were trying to play with got disconnected? :)

Do you have the Linksys (sp?) brand in the UK?
I recommend it.

Here's the deal:

1. My wii regular internet works just fine, my weather channel , shop, browser etc etc. It goes down sometimes due to our dongle being crap.
2. We have a 3rd party dongle, not the nintendo one, that wasn't out at the time we tried to buy one.
3. The only online features of JoD that connect or work is 1. The weather in My Dream 2. When Jof chimes me but i cannot reach his garden and he can't get to mine. It connects to WFC but disconnects giving me the 85010 error every time.
4. I have 40 something friends on my list. Only ONE of them (Jof) appears as online when i know others are online at the same time and have entered my code. They dont have net problems.
5. I have good speed broadband, our Wii dongle is just used for wii, my house doesn't have wireless.
6. It's obvious i need a straight wired to wii connection T_T Mphhh looks like the amount of trouble i had installing it in the first place was a clear indication of how pathetic it was. This Dongle is about as useful as... well nothing.

Now everyone says checking, but whichever one of you guys is
2406-3900-5953
it says that you are not connected to Nintendo WiFi.

So Idunno.. again, mine is 0645-4409-0527, just in case I put it in wrong the first time. :/

Hmm it would appear Ghost Squad is having the same problem. My dongle is just rubbish. Methinks i'll save up and buy a LAN wire adapter instead.

id say its just the dongle. how far is the wii from the dongle? it might be crappy if it's through a wall or something, but if it's right next to it, it'll just be the dongle.

at least cable always has good reliable speed

the adapters are like 20 quid though, it's like wtf, it's a tiny little piece of crap. suppose you do get a bunch of cable with it as well, i'm gonna have to get one myself. why in gods name does the wii not have an ethernet port?

I think they could see a way of making a quick buck.

I might try installing the dongle on my own PC actualy since then it'd be in the same room. It's supposed to have a range of 20meters or something, but it can't help to try. It's currently through 2 walls in my brothers room.

That'll do it. My Wii can barely see my router, much less connect to it, when I move down a floor to the big HDTV. My friend across the hall here at the university gets sporadic connection quality, yet his Wii can't be any more than 20 straight-line feet away...

So it is trouble connecting with your adapter rather than getting on wii games online. I always used a wireless router that BT gave me and it works perfect for DS and Wii wi fi playing! I suppose maybe try getting in touch with your internet provider to see if you can get a wireless router for free too, but it means getting your contract with them extended.

Also there is an adapter for the wii that is supposed to be very cheap and I will do a quick search for a link. -_-

should look like this.

Or these might do:

Good luck. ^_^

Same happened to me this weekend.. I've connected successfully before but I kept getting disconnected. I've used my Mac from practically the same distance from the router with no internet problems. Guh.

in my computer tech opinion, I think that, say, I have to be online at the same time <any of you> are online. i got a LOT of "cheking" too, but I have a few names now. but it has been JUST that. only 2 have shown from the JoD list and the other 3 are my little brother, and 2 friends of mine wich we called eachotehr to play 2p mode. afer that time it showed there names. i dont know how many ppl u can call to play online but thats what i figure. oh and My dream has NEVER worked online. those are bugs that NEEDED to be fixed before it was lunched.
