I can't say I have any numbers, but I think I can try and ask around the Gamestops around here (Since I have a friend in just about every one around here) to see just how many people have bought it.
I do, however, know of one case where a kid's father refused to buy the game from Loren because he thought NiGHTS looked like a homo-sexual ((You can't say that word here?!)) male. She tried to explain that NiGHTS wasn't anything and he said it was t"too weird" for his nine-year-old and made him put the game back.
Personally, I don't think there will be floods of people, especially because it has been so long since the first game came out. It most likely hasn't had many sales.

But nonetheless, things seem to be pretty quiet about NiGHTS in my area. Then again, the only games anyone ever gets hyped about in this area are Halo and Guitar Hero sequals.

Why do I somehow doubt that anywhere there would be mobs of NiGHTS people..? :/ Sorry but, I don't really buy that.
Well, you've never been to Southeastern MA, then. The Boston area is full of NiGHTS people. And I swear to whatever diety is listening that I'm still cleaning tomato out of the grill on my dad's SUV.

Anyway, Im' not here to argue, I'm here to just say that, whether you are exaggerating or it really happened, bringing signs and tomatoes and mobbing just makes NiGHTS fans look like idiots, it doesn't make the game look better or make anyone think the numbers are great.
Mob or no mob, I think the game probably did sh!t. But I don't care. I like the game and I'm enjoying it, even though I beat it a bunch already. Back on topic, if anyone can find out about the sales number on NiGHTS, feel free to share.

Well, sorry, thats my opinion. Not even for WoW do people go out with signs and tomatoes. Wii launch, no signs. Lines of people, waiting with nothing to do, is the most you'll get unless you're at the opening of some Christmas sale a a store on Black-frickin-Friday. Did YOU bring a sign and tomatoes?

Well, no I didn't bring tomatoes...
Anyway, yes, back on topic. There was a lot of sale-ness down in my neck of the woods, but I don't know how it went anywhere esle.

Okay, so it didn't do so well. I still LOVE the game. The main reason is probably that the series hasn't been brought up yet for a decade and so not many people understand what it is about. If I never played the game before or heard of NiGHTS before, I'd look at the cover art and say, "What is this? A girl game?!" (No offense to anyone).
Maybe if SEGA was to shovel out more NiGHTS games as they do Sonic games, then maybe it might kick off.

That's still rather disappointing. Guess I'll be looking forward to another NiGHTS game in a decade if we're lucky...

In regard to this, I still have not managed to catch a JoD commercial on TV even once.Tell Sega to make more ads or something.

And comparing it to Super Mario Galaxy is pretty harsh.
Regardless, that stat is pretty sad to see. Bad sales here definitely aren't going to convince Sega of a demand for a NiD PS2 port over the sea.

I've seen two. One Sega ad and one for an online retailer in which they show someone browsing their website, and they add JoD to their shopping cart.

Shame really, however, I could be 'part of the problem' simply since I rented it...and honestly despised NiGHTS:JOD (well, IMO anyway). *hides*
Oh well, at least I have Zack and Wiki as my favorite 3rd-party Wii game this year...hope 2008 is better.

Don't have exact numbers but I know a lot of people bought it here. I managed to swipe up the last copy before there was a mob of people at my local Gamestop door holding up signs with pictures of NiGHTS' head on them. I was mobbed by angry people. I barely managed to escape into my dad's SUV clutching the game for dear life where people threw their signs at us and splattered the car with painted tomatoes to look like Reala. There are some crazy, crazy people in Massachussetts.

If that's what it was like when NiGHTS came out in MA, I'd be surprised if the Wii launch there did not involve murder.

..really?? Some of those people gotta be on this forum, I mean, come on.. want video of that. That really happened??
Anyway dunno if this seems off topic, but one thing I've found about JoD is the more I play it, the more I appreciate it.. IGN was way off base in their review, too; some of the points they stressed were pretty moot. They needed to spend more time with the game.

How is Nights doing compare to Sonic and the secret rings and Mario and Sonic at the Olympics games?
Dude, I posted that exact information above. It's post 21...

It's kind of sad that the game isn't selling well. I'm not going to worry about it, though. From what I've heard, NiD didn't sell too well, but look at the popularity it gained. It was the true fans that demanded a sequel, so as long as there are die-hard fans, NiGHTS will not fade from existence.
IIRC, NiD did well for being a Saturn title. Overall sales weren't that great though. JoD is on the Wii, which can't be compared to the Saturn in sales by any stretch...

Good point. The Saturn had a short lifespan and was almost completely overlooked. NiGHTS is one of the best titles on the console, which is why it did well. I think the problem with JoD is that it caters more towards the fans of the original than newcomers who have never heard of the series, seeing as the Saturn wasn't the most popular console at the time. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. It just means that the majority of the people who buy it are the people who played the original.IIRC, NiD did well for being a Saturn title. If anything, the game is aimed at an even younger general audience than the original with all the kid-friendly cutscenes, side-games, and child-safety internet measures, Wize. I believe the problem has more to do with the fact that they're basically putting out a game with a title character who has zero recognition outside of old Saturn owners and video game enthusiasts. Factor that in and the dated-looking graphics and rail system (mind you I'm not bashing rails, I can't imagine the game any other way), and I can't say I'm all that surprised that it flopped.

Week 1) 23,917
Week 2) 27,203
It's actually doing better in its first weeks than Zack & Wiki did, which was a similar sleeper title, and budget priced to boot. I think it's not as bad as it could be. Certainly it's no Mario Galaxy of sales, but I think JoD's doing reasonably well for what it is!

From where I'm standing, it seems that: If a videogame doesn't have guns, blood and violence, or it's not an already well known and popular title, sales aren't gonna do that well. =/
Sadly, JOD falls into this category.
Had Sega kept it in development a bit more to polish and fine tune it, along with advertising it more, it would probably sold better. .-.
Then again, the whole "whimsical" feeling is something that seems to be frowned up nowadays.
I mean, with all those first person shooters and war games, who needs originality? *sarcasm*
So games like NiGHTS are probably dismissed as "sissy pr0n games" by ignorent conformists who play the games everyone else does just to fit in.
It's kinda sad, really...
