That confused me too. I suppose he just buzzed off trying to hold back his tears. I'll bet he was really confused with his sudden non-existence after Wizeman was defeated.

As for the actual ending itself, I'm positive people here have it right and it's entirely symbolic. The lights turning out is really the only other thing that's a tad confusing about it. Not sure if that was symbolic of Wizeman and his creations' return, or what. It could have just been to scare Helen so Will could make a snazzy entrance and get the girl. The parents sure did run off awful quickly.

Helen's mom didn't even react to her daughter getting scared. Will's dad (and friends)...well I guess just kept walking. That's love right there, leaving your son alone in a city at night.

LOL I know! XD I was sitting there wondering why Helen's mom would just sit there while a random boy in the city came up to her in the dark. Sure Will is young but you can't be too careful these days. Especially at night.

And I too couldn't figure out why Will's dad didn't notice his son missing. Must have gotten a call on his cell or somthing....

As we all should know (im blocking this with a spoiler any way) Wizeman is stoped at the end of the first game. Also later on you can unlock the old chars from the first game. So I was kind of wondering. WHAT IF the first game AND this game is happening at the same time. I mean the first 2 kids appear not to have aged, and they also stopped wizeman, and also kids do not meet each other in the dreams. So it would be possable for both games to be happening at once.

Even though I think this is unlikely it could be possable.

Also I remember reading that wizeman wanted to go into the real world as well. So if nights so called "died" in the dream world, he was with Will/Helen when they got the idya (did i spell it right?) so could he also have came into the real world?

I don't believe the "60 Dreamdrop Prize" is canon. But that's just my opinion.

I dunno, that's really a very interesting theory. One small problem though: It requires NiGHTS to be in 2 places at once.

Then again, the game itself requires him to be in 2 places at once, boosting it up to 4 places at once. Which brings me back to something I always say when the birds fly through solid objects in the chase missions: "Everytime you break the laws of physics, it just adds support to my 'Not really real' theory"

your query about the Bellbridge Tower NiGHTS stands on at the end. In another topic (and I may copy this over), I've been looking into various dream signs appearing throughout the game and their possible meanings, based on a book I just purchased. The interpretations are kinda... well, let's just say that Sega done their research! XD

Bell - warning; signal; calling for attention; summons; rejoicing; signal that someone has died.

Dark - what is unknown; not defined by the intellect or conscious self; things you are unaware of, etc.

So perhaps the bell is signaling a change that Will and Helen have yet to discover... like the fact that Nightmare's still around, and thus, NiGHTS is still alive! As for the time...

Hours of the day - may refer to age; period of life; something that happens at that time.

The number two - duality; relationship; indecision or making a decision; balance; male and female; opposites, such as light and dark, harmony or conflict.

Looks to me like 2 fits our beloved Maren to a tee! X3 I'm wondering if the actual time could refer to the average time when dreamers, with regular hours of sleep, begin dreaming the deepest? Or simply pointing out that this is a sequel? LOL

Ok...at the end of the special ending, when you see NiGHTS start to dissapear, did anyone else look beyond NiGHTS and notice Wizeman's tiny ass chair. LOL Maybe its further away than I think, because for a guy his size, that is way too small. Then again...does he even sit? O.o

NiGHTS doesn't die because as long as darkness exists in humans, Wizeman, Nightmare and everything that goes with it will always exist, therefore NiGHTS will always return. Which is good.

I think what made it sad was the fact that this time around, you've actually got full cut scenes and vocal acting to press the story on further. In the old game, you were given FMV and you were left to think it through on your own. This game drives the point into you with the story telling. It wants you to understand what happens at the end. With that in mind,

they had to dramaticize NiGHTS' death. The whole 'bowing while fading away' scene was real depressing to watch, in my opinion. But, in true fashion, NiGHTS can't die because he exists in the minds of humans and as long as theres always one person at least thinking of him, he can't die.

This game was really really good. I worried so much that they would mess it up and i worried the story would be ruined but my hat goes off to Sega for this one. They really done a good job, in my opinion. What we got in 1996, gamers are getting again today. A story thats full of the same kind of magic that the original had.

If all this speculation turns out to be wrong, hey, Sega is great at destroying continuity and reviving the fallen while at the same time providing no real reason "uhh, it was a robot!", "NO! Wait! It never happened! Yes...". They can just pull a Shadow the Hedgehog and bam! Everythings good.

I also remember reading in one of my Nintendo Powers that the person who helped produce/ direct/ create NiGHTS wouldn't mind doing more! and the voice actress for NiGHTS (as displayed by TRiPPY on the website back on Jan. 7) said that NiGHTS was going to play a "pivetol role in some other game". So there's hope for a NiGHTS 3 yet and once again....

After reading through this as I finally finished the game fully with both Will and Helen and in my mother's huge tv no less it also made me wonder about the end.

I think that perhaps Helen is afraid of the dark and that is why she loses her "Courage" during the Bell Bridge stage. In the ending when the lights go out once again it seems to have either been a power cut for a moment.
I wondered too about the fact both parents dont seem to care much but then again it happened very quickly, so I am sure if it continued we would see both of them run for their children.

Also I cried lots when I finished both sides of the story but that last bit with NiGHTS standing made me feel hope, which after all is also the last Ideya to get! The movies and dialogue did help a lot in making me care a lot more for the children/NiGHTS and what happened to them.

Dunno if anyone else had the thought, but in regards to NiGHTS's somewhat confunding appearance on the tower, we see Will and Helen happily asleep after their successes on their 'big day', respectively.. but I wonder if it's a real subtle way of saying that NiGHTS has in fact returned to them as well, in their dreams..

Theres a saying that no one is truely dead if you keep there memories close to you. NiGHTS is a being of dreams and is even though Wiseman created him within the dream world, it is callers like Claris and Elliot who believe in that hero and probably what gave NiGHTS a reason to live.

Sure NiGHTS died in the end but both William and Helen promised they would never forget NiGHTS as he flies and plays his flute above BellBridge tower.

Also know that Wiseman was defeated and died before.

I still wish they hadn't left us without closure on Reala. Did NiGHTS outright kill him? I doubt it, given how nonchalant NiGHTS was after the fight (had he actually killed Reala, I think there'd be a lot more wailing and sadness on NiGHTS' part).

So what happened to Reala? Did he limp off and sulk in a corner? Teleport back to Nightmare? Lock himself in his room and cry into his pillow?

See, that much I figured would happen *after* the Wizeman fight, but I'm talking about the immediate aftermath of the Reala vs. NiGHTS showdown. You beat Reala and then... nothing. You just go on to fight Wizeman, with NiGHTS acting as if the Reala fight never happened.
