So far, I played PUre Valley, the first level.
Initial impressions:
-cutscenes/voice acting is really NOT that bad. In fact I kind of enjoy it. I love NiGHTS new voice. seriously. Very cute.
-boss fights are not as easy as they look
-NiGHTS is very controllable, dont worry. Its a bit less so than the Saturn version but once you get used to it, youll have a blast.
-framerate lags at times, but doesnt affect gameplay
-music is FANTASTIC.
-cgi is fantastic
-menu design is not bad
-platforming is ok. Not as horrible as reviews might say. Definitely the most fun part of it is flying, as is proper.
-I like the owl, REalas design, the general art direction
-level design is fantastic
BUY THIS GAME. Dont worry, seriously, this is alot of fun. f*** the critics.

Im actually falling for this game pretty hard despite its faults. Fighting Girania is a blast.
Something I dont particularly like though is the acrobatic controls are somewhat laggy/unresponsive. So its harder to do all those fun flips and such with the wiimote. But when you do pull it off its immensely satisfying. Flying is just as fun in this game IMO, though linking is alot harder. You need to fly through plenty of rings to keep your dash power up, which in turn is quite essential to achiieving high link scores. I think Iizuka may have done this on purpose to make it that much more of a challenge to get high scores. If he did design it like this, its genius.

It's remarkably similar to the first, but just different enough to provide a new edge. Love it.
And Wizeman's hardcore.

I have the money.....
Do I buy JoD, or wait for Zero Gravity?
Oh, such a difficult decision.
Hey, how about the A-life? That's what I'm most interested in.

Ive figured out a tip for smooth flying control. Notice how the wiimote is designed with analog stick housing that is angular not round. This is the main thing causing the jerky flying movement. To remedy this is simple. Cut a ring out of cardboard and tape it to the controller so that the stick contacts that ring and not the angular sides. now itsl ike playing the Saturn game Seriously, the controls are designed spot on when the analog stick is free to move in a smooth circle. It actually controls rather beautifully and I can generally place it where I want it (to the limits of my shitty skill)
The game is a suitable challenge, and REALLY damn fun. Even the platforming is honestly not THAT bad. Buy this game. enjoy it. Iizuka has really done it. NiGHTS is back.

If only there was a way to fix that problem...then it would be heaven...

exactly. Just cut a piece of circular cardboard out and make a ring. THats the best solution. unless someone makes a third party controller with a round one. Maybe Sega should make a special one for NiGHTS againI have come to the conclusion that the controls don't feel right only because of the fact that we've never played NiGHTS using an analog stick that has 8-way notches like on most Nintendo controllers. On a perfectly circular one like the one of old (or PS3/360) it'd be far easier, at least for me, to pinpoint exactly where I want to go and at what angle.
If only there was a way to fix that problem...then it would be heaven...

*goes to work shaving away with a dremel on his spare controller*exactly. Just cut a piece of circular cardboard out and make a ring. THats the best solution. unless someone makes a third party controller with a round one. Maybe Sega should make a special one for NiGHTS again
Hope I don't mess anything up here...O_o;

I already beat Will's Story. >>; (though I am ONE A or B score on the last level away from getting the best ending for him. ><) The hardest boss for me was CHAMELAN. Oh em gee. Don't get me started on him... lol
Yes, I don;t think I can say much... I have yet to play Helen's side of the story. xD
... I should do that now.
