Well, one of the most frequented gaming sites on the internet finally gave JoD a review. I'm not even going to post clippets of it because it seems they're much more harsh on Sega titles in general. And now I'm starting to wonder how much I should trust their review scores, if at all...

Those stupid Internet fairies made me post a topic just like this at exactly the same time as you did.

I hate the Internet fairies.

*takes aggression towards review out on Internet fairies*

EDIT: I've just gotta say that I'm extremely surprised at the range of review scores for this. We've got everything from a 9.0 from Nintendo Power to 7's from most mainstream mags to a

? Lulz. Did they play the original as much as they said? From what I've heard, it has disturbing, life-consuming amounts of score attack addiction...

Yeah, I'm one of those horrible, horrible people who hasn't played the original, but something tells me that NiGHTS doesn't translate well into numbers.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got some Internet fairies to beat up.

Yikes. They gave Ghost Squad a better score than that. That seemed really strange. I was expecting something much higher--a point or more higher, even with all that they said about it.

My opinion? The review itself is fine. When I read that Bozon was doing it, I though that the game had some hope. It might have been even lower if Matt had done it. We can give thanks for that. The review was well-done, but I cannot help but disagree with many of the points.

And at the Nintendo channel, they have always knocked Sega. Sega is the only publisher that has put two semi-decent and one great game onto the Wii without putting out tons of minigame collections. Super Monkey Ball, Sonic, and NiGHTS, as well as Ghost Squad. I think that Sega should be honored for its efforts on Wii.

Yeah...guess what else they gave a higher score than NiGHTS? "My Word Coach." My Word Coach is language-training software.

"Grab yer torches and pitchforks!!!"

IGN seem to be biased against Sega with their Nintendo division. What is it? Old Nintendo vs Sega times? The Sonic Next gen disaster?

What's the deal, IGN?

Yeah, I don't trust IGN. Some of their reviews are just so damn biased, it's hilariously obvious. Notice how when they add up the score, they can't help but say good things about it, then give it low numbers.

what did they give MArio and Sonic Olympics? I loved that game and I know its been critically panned. I expect to like niGHTS2 even more.
On another note the guy at Gamestop actually told me "I heard its a letdown man you sure you wanna buy it?"
To which I replied "I already have"

Well every game that does not have blood, organs, guns and zombie killer army is not worth to play- at least this is what IGN says.

Lulz, they give SA2:B the same score....Guess what? It happens to be one of my favourite games of all time, and i still play it to this day.
I don´t give a &%¤#¤ what the reviewers think, even if it is a book, movie or a video game- i happen to love the ones they hate, all the time!

You must decide yourself what to do in this life-whether it is a IRL issue or a decision over a buying a videogame!
You don´t have to do as the others do, just be yourself- and know thyself ! :D

When I bought M&S from the EB Games at Kotara, they said it was fun and I'd love it, which I did, so does my brother and his girlfriend. NiGHTS JoD isn't out here yet and I wonder what they say about NiGHTS when it gets released here in January?

You know, I'm willing to bet that these blokes at IGN has never played a Saturn, what about you?

Sonic Adventure 2: Battle? I've got that game and it's great!!!

Guys, its just one persons opinion. What truly does matter is if YOU liked the game, I've liked plenty of games that have gotten low review scores, while disliked some that have had high review scores. Though reading the review made me think they were going to give a something like a high 7, not a 6.5, mind you!

Weird.. did they get the same version of the game as Nintendo Power? I haven't read NP's review, but by what IGN is saying, the delay should have happened. But why are they complaining about the lack of 'checkpoints'? You never got those in NiD. Fail at Nightmare, repeat the level. That's how it goes. Sloppy controls and unskippable cut scenes, on the other hand.. does this mean we have to see the scene with Reala every time we start Pure Valley??

*still needs to get his hands on a Wii, crapdammithellcrapdamnhell*

I don't give a crap about IGN.... ever since they gave the recent Sonic games and other great games a bad score, I played the games myself and they were the best!! ^_^

I'm gonna play NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams even if it gets a 1 out of 5 in X-Play!! :) ((uh.. I really don't know if X-play gave it a 1 out of 5 0.o... I just hate X-Play because they are being harsh as well with a bunch of Sonic games... they don't know how to play a good game...))

Anyways... this is getting me more excited to play NiGHTS that I want to unwrap it right now and play!! :P yeah... I have to wait until Christmas--- WHY IS THE WORLD SO CRUEL?!

OK, people, I happen to have great respect for the IGN crew at Nintendo. They do not think that only games with shooting and gore are great. These are the people that loved Zack and Wiki, and bought fifty copies. These are the people that are trying to get Mario Galaxy game of the year over Bioshock, Mass Effect, and Call of Duty. They are fans of and have played the original NiGHTS. They simply have opinions that are...controversial at this fansite.

They hated the latest Sonic games, but is that really unusual? Sonic has not had a great 3D game. Sonic Adventure and Adventure 2 were good, but not great. Heroes was a mess, Shadow was worse, the GC ports of the Adventure games were sloppy and pretty bad, and Sonic 06 is...you know. They actually like some Sega games over at IGN. They gave a fairly average score to Secret Rings (6.9--Gameinformer gave it something in the fives) but that was an average game.

Do I think that the score is wrong? Yes, absolutely. But let us not start assassinating a whole site for the personal opinion of one of the editors.

The review is not bad, but the number score is really messed up. Then again, it's been like that with IGN for ages. They have the review itself right, it's just that the number score does not match up. Again, with most reviews, the complaints don't seem to be that legit. And, once again, the score is causing a lot of havok at NeoGAF. Ugh. I could almost bet you that, if IGN used the same exact review they did but gave it an 8/10, the responses would be considerably less harsh.

But I regress. I knew this was going to happen. The most tragic thing is is that I wanted the game to have the same unanimous reception Super Mario Galaxy did so I can put the two together in a way that would make me admire NiGHTS and Mario even more. Sadly, just like with Super Mario Sunshine, the core NiGHTS gameplay is there, but, due to a lack of polish and some excess features, it will not achieve the level greatness as the Saturn original. It's a shame too because I wanted Journey of Dreams to have a universal love that would rekindle Sonic Team's reputation. I guess my expectations were just too high, both in Sonic Team and the gaming community.

But what am I to assume all of this for? I haven't even played the game yet. The torture of waiting and the uncertainty I have is almost killing me. I must get the game as soon as I possibly can, no matter what the cost.

Aw...but I had the pitchforks and torches all ready!

Seriously, though, you have a point here. Reviews, by definition, are just opinions, after all...
