I myself have been playing Trumpet roughly half my life. Unfortunately I'm grossly out of practice. Two years ago the ol' girl crapped out on me. The valves got too worn to move very well and my sound sucked as a result. It was used when I got it so it's not surprising. I'm saving for a brand spanking new one.
I normally play concert and jazz but I was forced against my will to do marching band for a brief time. I hated most of it, but it did have the one nice benefit of letting me play in a New Orleans Mardi Gras parade.
Anyone else play something?

My diggest Musical Point is Digitaly Made music. I understand it's not an instrument, but hey, 'tis something i've been doingfor about 7 years, 8 years around about March. I tend to use Music 2000 for my Compositions, a PS1 Game, and Record it using an MP3. (Thats how i did the Music now up on the site, under my Musician name"J-Vibe")
Recently, however, i came into posession of 3 Ejay Composers- "Techno 3- Summer Sessions", "Dance 06" and "Clubworld". Im still working my way around them at this point.

Piano and Recorder.

Ditto on those here but more organ and keyboard than piano. I'm more of an amateur vocalist though, I've done a few solo's on stage at the Mac Bob over the years with the 'Scout and Guide Gang Show'. : )
Singing is fun, the voice is after all a very versatile instrument : )

There's something you've forgotten
That's how to laugh and dance and smile and sing
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing."

I'm also dying to learn saxophone and cello but can't find a teacher around my area... ditto that one with voice lessons.
I sing a heck of a lot in my spare time, and hope I sound decently well, but without professional instruction I'll never be able to fine-tune what talent I may have. Oh well. I try!
Like my buddy Xay up there, I've also been composing music for years... literally since I started learning piano. Seriously. That's the reason my mother got me into the instrument-- even in my early childhood, I was constantly playing that thing at random, and I didn't sound half-bad either.
So I've got quite a few years of composition experience under my belt... and as a result am currently "working for" two fellow NiD members as a musician. XD Oh but I love it.
Anyone else compose, besides/or opposed to knowing how to play an instrument?

It's just been confirmed that my band teacher found his piccolo and he's going to let me try it out.

Ooh, I probably have no need to tell you this, but what I would try would be the trill at the end of the main theme's variant played at the very end of the game (called "NiGHTS will return", I think), the one that sounds like the merge.. or the merge, whichever..

Hell yes I'm going to try that.
If I like the piccolo enough (and am good enough at it) I might even get to play it in our concerts.

Started playing guitar on my 16th birthday (2000). Ended up working in the shop where I had lessons. Lessons stopped as we didn't have time when I was working, but it did mean I got to teach myself from all the books, and play any instrument/amp I wanted to.
Went to uni (2003) and had a band that played student's union, local venues, surrounding towns/cities.
Still playing now (band ended when uni did) and still loving it. I play a range of stuff from soft acoustic stuff to blues, classic rock and even into In Flames and Children of Bodom levels of speed metal.
My baby:
My other baby:
I play through either my Fender Yale Reverb or my Line 6 Spider II.

Small bit of piano, at least enough to know what keys are what notes. And self-taught with a little skill on the harp. (And half the time it's the Song of Time from Ocarina of Time.)

I started on a very standard crappy cheap Acoustic, from no particular make. Got a Stagg Les Paul-style electric the christmas before I gave up the lessons.
This week my parents just bought me the best christmas present ever.
A perfect condition original 60's Hofner Congress. Waiting on it being delivered, but I so can't wait to play it.

Now I've been playing flute for 6 years. Now I'm pondering the idea of quitting because.....playing in band just doesn't appeal to me anymore. I rarely practice. :/ (not that I really practiced anyway, tee hee) I don't like our new music (grade 6/college stuff = DO NOT WANT), and the other students kind of suck. :/
I'm trying to learn piano but am PHAILING in the process. D': I can only play "Midna's Desperate Hour" on it. XD

- When I was 10 I took 2 years of guitar lessons, got decent at it, but obviously lost it over the years. I just started reading tabs again (I picked it up about April of last year) and I'm getting better every day.
- Had a small stint with the piano; I'm sure with some quick practice I could get back to where I was with it.
- I was in my school's concert band with a terrible-sounding trumpet for about 5 years; the thing is long since beaten up, dented, and using a starter mouthpiece so it sounds terrible.
- If you count plugging a rock band drum controller into a PC and running a virtual synthesizer, I'm learning drums
Other than that my expertise here comes from using mixing tools such as Sony ACID and other sound editors. I've been mixing in my free time since my sophomore year in high school (~4 years ago). I haven't quite done a NiGHTS remix yet but it's on my agenda.

It's kinda annoying in my area, because at any music store I go to it's always guitar, piano, or trumpet, no flute books. So I usually just get the piano ones.

I also have/play the electric kazoo and the Jew's Harp. I love both greatly but do not know if they really count as instruments...
As a kid I played the trumpet, recorder, drums, and guitar. The only one of those that was not school-related was drums and I was never too good at any of them.
