Hi there guys, SEGAnerds have got a new preview up when our lucky (git) admin visited SEGA of Europe, so how did the game hold up? well its got a lot of good and bad, certain things are bad (Such as the children, the actually models for them) though certain things have been improved (Such as the Wii control) lag for one player and two player is non-existent and the side mission are fun!

Still... I can't get over how bad Will's model looks. Helen is all right, but Will... ugh. He looks like an older version of Tommy Pickles (yuck) with pathetic little noodle arms.

Yeah, I was halfway through reading and was about to point that out; so I suppose the feather-mask didn't control NiGHTS (or not as effectively as it might later on).

Completely agree. Gameplay > Graphics all the way! Although I must say, nicer textues or models for the kids would be appreciated.

Am I the only one who hates how Reala's mouth looks? His mouth looks... wrong to me. He kinda looks like a drag queen? Maybe it'll look better in motion.

I'm also a little bummed on what they said about the scene visuals. Maybe - hopefully - they'll clean them up.

Yeah...The world is sort of strange like that, but hey they get debug copy! So all is well with the world.

Eh…you’ve made a strange point about that actually XD

But anyway, those who are talking about the graphics, keep in mind the graphics are only bad in the cut scenes, outside of the cut scenes G thinks the game looks lovely, and the boss battles he thinks make the game look awesome, so folks don't worry, considering the majority of the time you'd be spending on actually playing the game, there’s not much to worry about, because the majority of the game would look gorgeous anyway!

seriously I wouldn't ever want to hear MJs voice in that game. I'm cool with the chicks voice. I'm guessing since NiGHTS looks guyish in order to keep up with the androness they'd need to make at least a little female quality besides pink.

Actually, I'm sort of surprised that so many people think of NiGHTS as male, since he's got such girly colors and giant dreamy eyelashes... I was expecting most people to think he's female, based on that. Maybe it's from the fact that he's always referred to as a "he" and not a "she"?

Let's take into account the pros and cons of this preview.

Pros
+ Improved Wii controls
+ No lag
+ The level graphics
+ The boss graphics
+ Great music
+ The voices are "not so bad"
+ Smooth multi-player
+ Side missions are "surprisingly fun"
+ "Great features and little extras" that will "keep gamers playing for longer"

Cons
- Wii controls might still not be easily accessible for beginners
- William and Helen's character models look poor in the cut-scenes
- My Dream looks "bland and drab" at first
- NiGHTS doesn't sound like Michael Jackson

So that's it? That's way more pros than cons, and those cons hardly even bother me. I think we may have a hit on our hands.

Yeah I made a topic of that in the general NiGHTS forum, the thing with Famitsu is certain publishers can "buy" good scores so sometimes you can't be too sure of their scores. That being said, Silver the Hedgehog 2006 got a 32/40 from them, harsh? My arse!

I agree. They shouldn't look like regular lips. If you guys are familiar with Bruce Timm's style with lips, such as on Batgirl, etc.. they should be more like that.

God damn it Famitsu. Those aren't even cons. The controls are "a little TOO unique" you say? What does that even mean? Oh, you have to restart the stage if you die? Just like in the first game? Just like in all games?

Seriously, what is this bullcrap? Those aren't even major cons. So, what, you can't skip cut-scenes, even though they are probably thirty seconds long. That's still not a game breaking con. I can understand the "distracting" human missions and all, but that's still no excuse to mark the game down and cause a giant meltdown at NeoGAF.

I really shouldn't expect any better from NeoGAF either. They will cause an entire meltdown over the simplest things. First thing they idolize the developer of their choice, then one thing goes wrong, and OH SNAP, now they throw whatever random expletive they can at said developer. I bet they didn't even read the pros and so-called "cons" and, instead, just looked at the pretty little numbers and threw a little fit like a little toddler. "GRR SEGA CAN'T DO ANYTHING RIGHT!" my ass.

SEGA worked hard bringing this sequel to life and polishing it with the extra time they had. They worked hard to make sure the game retains the feel and atmosphere the original did with the controls working just as well (with added control options no less). They even hired the same music artist from the first game to compose the music for this game. Most importantly, the game looks fun. And you can't even bother to read the pros and cons from some shitty Japanese review outlet. Not that I should expect any better; you're too busy jacking off to Super Mario Galaxy to care about anything else right now.

For comparison sake's with Famitsu's older scores on NiGHTS

Nights (SS)-　8,9,9,8
Christmas Nights (SS) - 8,8,8,7

And the NeoGAF are basically a bunch of children in a play ground going wah wah because their fantastic Phantasy Star Online isn't the portable version but Phantasy Star Universe is. Wah wah, nostalgia does things to people's minds I suppose. Course, the NiGHTS thread has not been effected by this, so yay!

But I'm not sure if we should really care about Famitsu's reviews so much, hell even Shadow the Hedgehog got a high score for them. But then again, how the hell could Shadow the Hedgehog get a score above 30 (A respected score by the way, Shadow the Hedgehog, respected? Yeah right) but not NiGHTS? Somethings wrong man, somethings terrible terrible wrong (With either the world, the game, or Famitsu in general)

Fanboyish post? Yeah right. You should look at the threads on NeoGAF. My post is nothing in comparison. They can bitch and moan about the little things all they want, but when I make a ranty post about genuine problems, it's suddently fanboyish.

I know the Famitsu score isn't that bad. What ticked me off was the response it ushered. This is the NiGHTS sequel. This is Sonic Team's redemption. This was not the response I was hoping for. I am also tired of all the anti-SEGA crap I have been reading over the years. It's time it ended.

Well, this is just one review, and the cons really do not even seem to be that bad. I would love to have seen (and been able to read) the written review, just to see what they said word-for-word. Of course, Other reviews are bound to be coming in in the next few weeks, so let us all wait for the other impressions to come in.

Also, I saw this incredibly spoiler-laced video on Youtube. I am not going to link to it, so if you want to know the ending level, you will have to find it yourself.

Hmm...

I think its mostly anatomy. He has a much wider torso than hips, which is a very masculine trait. Females tend to have hips that are just as wide as their torso, if not wider.

No, me and Mac (I Hope you don't mind me calling you that Machenstein!) are talking about the Famitsu reviews topic where everyone is branding SEGA to be crap simply because NiGHTS got a low score and Phantasy Star Portable is Phantasy Star Universe, not Phantasy Star Online.

But the official topic as I mentioned, isn't so much "SEGA SUXS!" if any at all, that member Segata Sanshiro has done a good job of well...not having any trolls in the topic.

The interview was great! The more I hear the more I get anxuous to get JoD!! I pretty much ignored the cons and embraced the pros!!! He looks like a woman in black lipstick, I agree. If he would at least take the lipstick off he'd look at least like a drag queen but the lipstick gives him the extra push into womanhood. Let's just hope Reala doesn't frequent bars in the area... he'll be mistaken for a prostitute.
