After seeing a NiGHTS AMV on YouTube (), I've wondered what a NiGHTS anime would be like and what would you think of the idea?

I think it would be interesting if there was one, like the NiGHTS comics (which I heard were god awful)

And it would be Super Cool if Mr. Hayao Miyazaki-san made it!! He is one of my most favorite Japanese animators, right beside Mr. Osamu Tezuka-sama!!! ^_^ Mr. Miyazaki-san makes Wonderful, Magical, Heartfelt films so he can definantly make a NiGHTS Anime or even a NiGHTS movie!!!

Heh, I seem to recall this kind of thing being posted before. But as Go Dreamer said, Miyazaki would indeed do a bang-up job with NiGHTS.

Yesh, if it would have good plot, animation and it would respect the original game source, i would love it.

If you look at my thread in "Creative Stuff" You'll see that I'm actually working on one. However my skills in flash are a bit rusty, so it'll take a while.

Not the only one! I'm just too lazy to ever getting around to finishing anything and my scripting skills suck... however if I do get something serious underway I'll have to talk to some people about copyright and so forth, but I don't think it'll happen any time soon...

The Aforementioned AMV *putting it up so people don't have to copy-paste anymore* And as has been said in another thread (I forget which one, too, but I remember lots of people liked this idea) Miyazaki-san making a NiGHTS movie would be awesome, but we must remember that he's still got lots of things he wants to do himself (and will inevitably be just as awesome), so I think the most we'd see out of him is a movie; an entire series would be simply too much for him to get to do everything he wants as well as that.

i've always thought that a NiGHTS movie would be awesome ( if it were made by good animators of course), because i don't think NiGHTS would fit anime, i never liked anime-from-videogames but that's just me :3

Admitedly, Season 2 was far better then Season 1, but i certainly get the Point.

I must admit a NiGHTS Series is Tempting, but i'd Opt for a Movie in the End. Who knows, if JoD is populer Enough we might see one eventualy! =P OI just hope it's an Animated one... A CGI Movie would be Novel, but it'd take FOREVER to come out and Honestly, theres to much CGI right now. And a Live actions NiGHTS? Oh GOD. No... Just NO. O_O;

On a more serious note, CGI + Live Action could- ..... Well, complete CGI once they get in the dream to signify that it IS a dream, but real life for real life stuff.

If they decide to follow a nursed-to-complete-health version of what happens in the Archie comics, though, they could pull that off with CGI + live action (I wanna see Jackle busting windows in NYC with those dang cards of his!!! XDDD ).

Burton's one of the only dudes creatively wacky enough to do NiGHTS justice. Your milage may vary, of course.

an honest to god NiGHTS anime would rock... however...

think this thru, the studio who would get the job would be 4kids... the same studio who did sonic X... which from what I heard was an abomination of animation. (this coming from my die-hard sonic fan boy friend) what we would end up with is bad voice acting, horrible plot, little to no continuity with the games and a broken heart for seeing NiGHTS so horribly shamed.

If Miyazaki made a NiGHTS movie, it might work. After viewing most of his films I would conclude that taking request isn't his style tho, so I doubt it will happen.

What would be needed to pull a NiGHTS anime off would be a studio with the dedication of Gainax (same guys who did evangelion, FLCL, and His and Her Circumstance) Honestly I think Gainax would be a bad choice seeing as there normally about relationship studies, but I'm not saying they should be the ones to do it. What I'm saying is Gainax put a year of research into evangelion before even starting it, making it the deepest, most symbolic anime I've ever seen (trust me kids, it's not just another giant robot anime, I have a friend who wrote a thesis paper on just how deep the series goes)
It's that kind of dedication and richness that NiGHTS needs imho. There's alot of dream psychology that could so easily be worked into a NiGHTS anime and it would be a shame to waste it on a 4kids plot structure.
I really don't want to see NiGHTS turn into "oh no, Wizemans at it again! what ever shall we do?! I know! Let's fly a paraloop around his hands so he can't hurt anyone anymore! YAY!!!!" and then he'd be back next episode with another set of hands and they'ed do it all over again.

SOOOOOO.... my point is here: NiGHTS should not be turned into an anime unless it's done right, which goes against the very nature of game-animes. Therefore NiGHTS, for the love of NiGHTS, should not be an anime.

Miyazaki would be cool, obviously. The man knows his stuff, and a redesign of the Nightmaren/minions/pians in his style...goddamn. Not to mention the fact that he always have gorgeous skies in his movies~
But...am I the only one thinking that Mononoke (no, not the Ghibli movie) could also be a pretty damn impressive take on NiD? If nothing else, it has dreamlike qualities and damn it would be nice to see NiGHTS in something else than generic anime~

And, once again, I completly agree with Tim Burton-esque NiGHTS -the Movie. *nods*

I will honestly admit that I do not think that NiGHTS should EVER be turned into an anime, movie, manga or anything like that. Have your doujinshi and your fanmade videos, but to do something so concrete? I think it makes the whole universe way too...canonized.

I mean, there's been these debates in the past as to wot's canon and wot's not in the fandom. People get very angry over this sort of junk. But, I've always held that the appeal of NiD is that it allows a person to think wotever they want. It's your dream, so you do with it wot you please. There is no right or wrong to the process, just go with wot you feel.

If the game were made into something so very stable and manufactured--and don't get me wrong, I'm as big a Miyazaki fan as everyone else and I'm sure it could be done "well"--it would take away the beautiful flexibility of the fandom.

I agree. 4Kids ruins every anime it touches. Yu-Gi-Oh! used to swear and make rude gestures and have guns in it. NOT ANYMORE! Naruto used to swear and have blood and nudity in it. NOT ANYMORE! 4Kids takes away everything that makes anime...well, anime and just makes it into a bloody cartoon.

Back on some semblance of topic, I would honestly love to see a NiGHTS anime, provided 4Kids or Viz stayed far, far the hell away. If it was done right, NiGHTS could be the biggest name in Japanese animation. It was suckish, well, I'd watch it anyway and keep a puke-bowl next to me at the worse parts.

just because they've only made a movie, doesn't mean they can't make a series. and miyazaki does not, and will not, make a series. plus, he's very old you know, he's probably going to stop directing movies soon.

Okay then.. never said anything bout a series. My thought was a traditional style 2D anime movie, done by him. Y'know, a la Spirited Away and whatnot. Nothing wrong with a CGI NiGHTS project, but that woudn't be anime, at least in my opinion.

well, in my mind, anime is just a japanese word for animation(just like manga is just a word for comic), but since everybody around me(not here, but at other forums and my friends at school, etc. etc.) use anime for japanese animated series only, that's way i use the word, i'm very sorry for the confusion.

Heh, no worries. I mean, it's not like you can't use the 'styles of anime' so to speak, in full blown CGI. After all, as we all know many would say Elliot and Claris were very 'anime', and they were 3D. Miyazaki probably shares the sentiment though that anime is only 'true' when rendered by hand, come to think of it.. reflected in how he hates using CG and tries to avoid it wherever possible in his films.
