Don't hate me for typing this but I honestly would like the series to either end or hit another sleeper period for another eleven years after this game. It's just that things that come out too fast end up becoming over repetitive and no longer feel special because it is available at any and all chances.
i kind of agree actually-if sega started pumping out a NiGHTS game every couple of years it wouldn't feel so special. we're all so excited and psyched up about JOD because it's FINALLY HAPPENING!

Next Game has to have less... Bat tights and more... Yellow claws... and Defiantly more Puffy. XD
Also someone mentioned customizable dreamers, I'd like to see where that would lead to...

Well ! How about it a third NiGHTS game what would you like in it romance ? Gay romance ? maren theft ?
Its your call !
That I truely don't have anything against that idea for something else.
To me that would seem out of character for this particular game or story.
I would either have to agree with Illvillan or Maresuke.
A little uneasy with Maresuke idea for the fact that I'm still afraid that they may ruin it just like they did for Sonic.
(I feel they well over done it for Sonic I wish they just stuck to the old stuff rather than keep adding and adding. >.<)

Greetings, and happy holidays Nightz.
My opinion could change due to the fact that NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams might just include what I would like, let me emphasize that, to see sppear or happen in a NiGHTS video game.
I would prefer to keep the "E" rating, and be allowed for all audiences, because they have been. Preferablly not tieing in with religion, as the first NiGHTS video game caused an ephademic in the religion curriculum, and even after further analysis, I'm not entirely certain why.
As you said, Nightz, I would like to see an appearance of slight romance, maybe two more characters, but adolescents because they typically express feelings for one another more than those under the age of 13, due to hormones and the teenage health and emotion development.
Also, many of you members expressed your feelings regarding a future release date, I agree with you for the most part. Many of us would feel quite blasé not waiting an extensive period of time for a new addition in the video game curriculum of the NiGHTS series, however, I would also be anticipating a new addition very much as well, so I blend in with two of the three sides I see from my perspective; no third title, new title soon, and a new title in an extensive period of time.

Seriously, though, i'd prefere Sega to wait a long while before Bringing out a NiGHTS 3. About 4-to-5 Years or so... Obviously, i don't want to wait 11 years around for an other one...
A DS Game would be Brill. But i'd prefere it to be an Original Title instead of a Remake or Port, to be honest.

The first game had to do with overcoming your fears and being brave... then JoD is about family... maybe the next one, if they ever come out with one, could be about growing up? Or maybe the power of friendship, or something cute and fluffy like that. :3
...or global terrorism?

Like say... Nights's racers? or how about some sort of party game? we're talking about a dream world so anything goes.
Think about it, in recent years Mario has had a major update only once per console: Mario 64, Mario Sunshine and now Mario Galaxy(I'm excluding paper marios and luigi's mansion because I consider those to be spinoffs) So you release a game that goes on the roots of the series every 3-5 years to keep it from getting stale and giving enough time for a good development cycle, and release some fun filler titles with the NiGHTS name on it to keep the fanbase focused on the name in the downtime.

well JoD quenches our thirst for more of the same of the original, so I would say, instead of letting the series die down again, make spinoff games.

I'd only trust something like that if NiGHTS was a Nintendo title... so far only good spin off Sega's done for a while is Sonic Riders....
Otherwise I don't fully trust how Sega has been handling their characters and games lately... but all I can do pray maybe this is a turning point and Sega may start to revive old characters instead of always making new ones?
I like your idea I just don't know if I can trust Sega with it. lol

Although I wouldn't mind NiGHTS on my PSP or DS, although the closest thing is finding NiD Score Attack and putting it on a flashcart (DS) or playing it through gPSP (PSP GBA emulator). I'd love an original NiGHTS handheld game on the DS/PSP (not that Tiger handheld). Heck, both consoles have the grunt and guts to run something like the original NiD. Plus the PSP has an analogue stick and the DS has a touchscreen, so both consoles SHOULD play NiGHTS well.
Come on Sega, release a handheld NiGHTS game.

Also, i'm all for the NiGHTS franchise kicking off. Iizuka KNOWS the difference between Sonic and NiGHTS and knows that he can keep a NiGHTS franchise alive without having to make a 'NiGHTS Kart', 'NiGHTS Shuffle' 'NiGHTS Fighters' and whatever other shyte they could copy. NiGHTS is based on dreams so technically the possibilities are endless for level design and features. Even the 'rollercoaster' and 'boating' sections don't look that bad anymore in JoD. Sega wouldn't need to make spin-off games for NiGHTS to keep his franchise going.

Am i the only one who feels that a hand held console version of a NiGHTS game is a bad idea?

i'll be honest. i disagree, drive by argument style.
NiGHTS would be so well suited to the DS it's unreal, the smoothness of the touch screen would really have a good feel for the original game, plus, instead of working all the time... I COULD BE PLAYING NiGHTS! on an aeroplane. or on the back of a bus. girl i've been waiting for it, i've been waiting for it....you make me wanna play NiGHTS, on DS, on DS, play NIGHTS...
also, sega just ruin games. they do. it's a fact. they've already slightly diminished the awesomeness of NiGHTS (no link attack WTF?? mystic forest remake looks like crap too SO GREEN AND BORING) and although JOD will be awesome, methinks they'll just lose sight of the original and spew out something that's just.....shadow the hedgehog all over again. Nasty. just plain nasty ass.
do feel free to prove me wrong though...?

The new level is very creative in terms of how many different things it throws at you in the entire level and the fact that SCRiB just said that Sega ruin franchises defeats his argument of a DS game ever being good since the company always screws up. Therefore, to me, he has made no point.
And the reason i think it's a bad idea for a DS game is because i feel that story driven games should be on a home console rather than hand held because to me a hand held system is for a 'quick round of whatever' while you have nothing busy going on, like a break during work or something. With that in mind, the only kind of game they could bring on to a DS is a game simply for a pick up and play quick, purpose. This means the game does not get enough attention and becomes like many other hand held games that nobody plays after a few weeks when they've completed it. On a home console like a Wii or 360, you're putting time into playing a game rather than playing something while you 'wait for somebody'.
But that's my reason and i'm not about to say it's right.

I think it would be neat to touch upon insomnia in the next game somehow. Perhaps a child is too scared to go to sleep because he has constant nightmares and develops some kind of insomnia. Maybe the game could focus on a deeper meaning behind the disorder, who gets it and why it happens. It might be an interesting concept if one of the kids develops insomnia due to constantly having horrible nightmares and is too afraid to go to bed. On one of the rare occasions he/she falls asleep they come across NiGHTS and he helps? Just a thought, I think some sleeping disorders are interesting.

Story heavy games have their place on them (just look at Phantom Hourglass, it has a strong narrative presented in a perfectly accessible way for those on the move and often comes across better at story telling than the home-system entries in the Zelda series).
Sure, there are games that are story driven on hand held consoles but to me personaly hand held games are usually played once and then left on the side. I've owned hand helds and i'm just speaking from my own experience with them. But with a console game it's just more convenient for me. Turn it on, put the disc in and play on a big screen whenever i like. It's like i put time aside to go to the computer and play something. Hand helds just feel 'incomplete' to me. You can take it with you and it's like it's becoming a norm thing in your everyday life. It loses the shine.
Kinda like how mobile phones were pretty cool in my books once upon a time...now i have a phone with me everywhere that i go and it's become so normal i don't even notice it. I wouldn't want my games to feel like that so i prefer playing on a home console instead. I prefer to go to the game to play it rather than take the game with me.
But, as i said, that's just my own personal view on it all.
Anyways enough about my personal view on hand helds, back on topic.
What i would like to see in a new NiGHTS game is a create-a-dreamer feature. Such a feature would mean you could create yourself and it would be you going on that adventure with NiGHTS and kids would love that kinda thing, plus i know most of the fans would too. It would be your story, your adventure. Hmm. I could see this as more of a side feature rather than a whole game based on it, however.

...
Pick it up and once I finish the game I never seemed to pick it back up unless for a long while.
However the DS has been different for me.
There are a few games that I have been playing for well over a year now but they happen to be one of those ongoing and Wifi games.
If Sega could pull it off, but I also doubt they could, it is possible for them to make a game that could be picked up for much longer than a normal hand held player would.

Out of a slight bit of irony this type of theme is being used for a few of the more recent DS games.
This would be a decent idea for a DS game as well but I still doubt they could pull it off.
If they did go about making this for the Wii I wouldn't mind owning a copy though. XD
Then again if they can figure out how to make it so both the Wii and the DS to have this game with some type of internet connect to both, and I mean so that a player on the Wii and a player on the DS could play together, that could make a great game also causing more interest from other type of players.

I am all for a NiGHTS DS game. Either a port of NiGHTS into Dreams or a new game.
Did you make that? Nice job!
Also, I recently had an idea for a NiGHTS game on DS:
(DISCLAIMER: I've tried to thoroughly read this thread over, but if I missed your post with a near-identical idea, blame the Internet. Anyway, on to the idea:)
Has anyone here played Phantom Hourglass, also for DS? For those of you who haven't, there were sections where you controlled a boat by drawing its path on the Touch Screen. It's kind of hard to explain, so here's a video of what I'm talking about:
Now, my idea is that a DS version of NiGHTS could incorporate something like this...essentially, a "draw-your-own-mare" mode! This mode would play much like the "normal game" (same controls, worlds, and such), but with no set path through the Mare. Instead, upon entering the NiGHTS Capture, you would be faced with a screen much like the one in the video, with an aerial map of the level, upon which you could draw whatever Mare you wanted; although it would have a few points you would have to incorporate into your path (Ideya Capture locations and such) so you could still complete the level.
I say "mode" earlier because it would be rather hard to incorporate a "score attack" element with this, since the obvious variation in Mares would make the "high-score" element of NiGHTS completely useless, ruining the game for many. (Insert your own "bird joke" here. ) However, as a seperate mode or unlockable, I believe this has a lot of potential (INFINITE REPLAY VALUE, ANYONE?)
Well, that's my idea, anyway.
*hopes Mysterious SEGA Lurkers of Doom read post and implement idea*

But, if JoD sells well, then another Wii game, or a PS3 game would do quite well if you ask me. Just, make sure that you actually finish the game this time. We do not want another Sonic 06 on PS3, only in NiGHTS form.
Wait, I think I should be shot for even insinuating...never mind.
