I don't know if it is possible. But considering the similarities between NiGHTS and Reala I dont see why not. What if Reala took an unsuspecting dreamer and merged with him or her to combat NiGHTS? Reala is a baddie, so I am sure he could be seductive and sneaky enough to protray himself as a nice little helper ala NiGHTS. What do you think?

Yeah, I've been thinking it's possible, too, but what exactly would be the point? I believe NiGHTS literally lends his body to the dreamer that is merged with him, allowing them to control his motions and such. I don't believe Reala would allow anyone to do that unless he's in a desperate situation and it's his only choice (like he can't go on fighting himself; i.e. he's about to fall unconscious) or if Wizeman orders him to.

Well, I was thinking he might pick a confused angry kid whos mad at the world, and do something like promise him/her power to change the things that bother them. Then feed off the childs more "nightmarish" emotions to gain strength, all the while brainwashing the kid that theres nothing wrong with what they are doing. Of course there are alot of weaknesses to this, such as the childs consience. But I could see Reala risking it at the idea of using human negativity to try to take out NiGHTS

Hmm, true, but it's not exactly like the simple act of merging with a dreamer gives them a power boost or something. NiGHTS does it so he can get out of the ideya capture palace (and this would be one of those rare situations where I believe Reala would be perfectly willing to merge with a dreamer).

Good point. If anything It poses a threat of weakening Reala unless its a truly evil dreamer (rare in children one would hope).

Mleh, I think the only thing he'd have to worry about is either the dreamer joining forces with NiGHTS while in control of his body... or the dreamer happening to have a severe lack of coordination skills; he'd crash so much it might give him a concussion. ^^;

Reala doesn't need to merge with dreamers as he has full freedom to be in both Nightopia and Nightmare and isn't confined by the ideya palace.

NiGHTS only has to to gain the abillity to escape and collect the chosen childs ideya and has limited time to stay away from the palace including being in a nightmare. NiGHTS is truley in a hindrence thanks to Wizeman improsoning him.

But i'm sure once he truly destroys his creator he will win his freedom.

Because he wasn't sent to his room like NiGHTS was, Reala is spared from having to do that. But like you guys, I can see Reala merging with some truly evil little devil spawn of a child (if the situation warrants it), but at the same time I can see him taking advantage of someone who is in their most vulnerable times.

I wonder if Reala was imprisoned by Wizeman (perhaps as a result of failing to stop NiGHTS) such that he needed to merge with a Dreamer what would he do with the time he had available? Revenge? If so on who (first...)?

Like my cousin Benjamin. Oh dear lord, I have more than a sneaking suspicion that Ben there is Reala in disguise. You know, if Reala could shrink to 4 feet tall and take off the ridiculous mask. Oh my God, have you ever spent more than five seconds in a room with this kid? Don't even try it. And from the voice clips I've heard of Reala's voice, that reminds me of Ben too! OMG!

But, back on topic. I think it's entirely possible for Reala to merge with a dreamer, as long as say, oh, I dunno... THE DREAMER WAS HAVING A NIGHTMARE? You know, it often seems to me that NiGHTS merges with a dreamer when said dreamer is just you know, tra-la-la-laing around Nightopia. I would think that Reala would merge when the kid is dreaming about man-eating socks or something. "Ahhhh! Help me! Man eating socks!"

I doubt Reala would merge with a dreamer in a scenario like that, unless the dreamer was actually ENJOYING the nightmare he/she was in. Otherwise, I bet he'd just stand by and laugh or help in scaring the crap out of the poor kid.

Here's my opinion on the subject. Reala would only merge with truly evil dreamers who take joy and pride in making others suffer (sadists? Or is it masochists? I always get the two confused). Seeing as how he's Wizeman's most loyal servant, I doubt he would ever try to help a dreamer in any way, unless it allowed him to spread more fear and terror through the dream world. I think any dreamer that merged with Reala would end up becoming more evil overall as a result having experienced the corruption and power firsthand.

Needless to say I wouldn't want to see the end result after all of that...

The dreamer getting corrupted is a very interesting theory. The question is to what extend he or she is affected? Would they start doing meaner things at once, or would it be a gradual change before others reacts to the change?

As for why... Alright, getting into fanon-territory here. I remember a fanfic where Reala influenced a boy into killing other people - always without being seen and where there was people - so others would get nightmares. So aside from what the rest have mentioned in this thread, it could also be a way to cause more nightmares.

While that does seem like a good, solid theory, I think that, if Reala needed something done, something he couldn't do alone, he'd try to act all nice and manipulative in order to get the kid to drop his guard, then move in and control the kid for his own uses. You know, the whole evil-manipulating-shrew thing. However, if nothing needed to be done and Reala just came across some poor kid being attacked by man eating socks, then he'd take the oppurtunity to stand there and laugh his bat-tight-wearing butt off. I know I would. *is shot by Reala haters*

Interesting theories, all of you. However, I can say that I've actually SEEN it......in a dream/nightmare.......started as one and turned into the other. O_O Still, It was me & my friend in Nightopia, singing and dancing with NiGHTS and the pians. (God, they are irrisistable!) You know, nersury rhymes I would NEVER be caught dead doing normally. Then NiGHTS started feeling kindof sick, like he/she/it had the flu. @_@ And there's where everything went wrong........

~We were all transported somewhere into Nightmare, no pians, just me, my friend, and sickly little NiGHTS. You know, it was creepy. Reala was sick too, we found that out quickly. He was like, about to pass out. NiGHTS had gone back to talk to some dreamer or something. My friend was all like, "I have to do it." I was looking at him like, "What the hell! Do you even know who this is?!" He did it anyway. Reala was healed, we woke up, happy ending right? WRONG!!!

~My friend wasn't at school the next day, I thought he was sick. Though, he came back the next day and was really secluded. I went to go talk to him and he answered my questions like an emo. T-T

Personally, I think Reala and Roger from the Archie comic were a good match. They both had a rival in common and they both liked red a lot.

Well, going by Archie standards, Reala is capable of dualizing only if he really needs to (what I don`t understand is why Wizeman had to lure a child to free a creation he imprisoned in the first place instead of just letting him out to terrorize people himself).

Also going by Archie comics, NiGHTS has an ideya shard embedded in his chest, and Reala does not. In our reality, NiGHTS is always imprisoned in ideya palaces, and no other Nightmaren has before. If that really is an ideya shard, it could have changed him. If in theory all nightmares were destroyed when Wizeman was defeated, then NiGHTS could have been spared because he isn`t entirely nightmare anymore. That light he was surrounded by could have been the spell on his body and soul being broken, no longer nightmare, but possibly both dream and reality from then on. Afterall, ideya comes from dreamers, and he would have had a shard of the most powerful and `real`ideya of all. Maybe that ideya is the only reason he gets trapped, because it`s still ideya but such a small piece that it`s weak and he can`t use it to escape because it isn`t whole.

So, that in mind, dualizing with a child could `complete`him and give him just enough strength to escape for a certain amount of time before the spell seeps through and imprisons him again. And because NiGHTS isn`t whole and broken ideya may be blocking most of his nightmarish powers, he needs the strength of a child`s ideya to give him the power to fight back. He can`t rely on the power of nightmare, so he needs something else. We`ve seen how strong he can be even without the children`s help, but it isn`t just for him. NiGHTS and the visitors need and rely on eachother`s strength.

But, Reala has no ideya shard and he is a full-fledged and powerful Nightmaren, both in strength and rank. He wouldn`t need to trick or take over somebody to be powerful. He and NiGHTS are about evenly matched, and he`s the only one who can defeat NiGHTS. He wouldn`t lower himself and stoop so low as to dualize with someone to be able to fight. That, and maybe without the ideya NiGHTS already has, Reala is incapable of dualizing.

I think Reala would be capable a dualising... after all it has a name and Reala seems to be quite familiar with the term so I doubt NiGHTS invented it... but the topics "IF" Reala merged with a dreamer not "can" but if Reala merged with a dreamer I suppose he would do the most logical thing and trick him to going to wiseman... WHAT AM I TALKING ABOUT!? THIS IS SEGA! logic has no place here XD Reala would probably capture NiGHTS and drop off the dreamer he dualised with and have him/her hold onto the key for him wile he had "errands" to do... like rereading his script to make sure this is EXACTLY what Sega wanted him to do (and sure enough it is).

I went to the site and read the comic... a huge improvement on the crap that Archie released. My favorite part? Roger gets pulled into the dream world by Wizeman (paraphrase)

Wizeman: Come join the darkside, we have candy and cookies waiting just for you and just ignore the boy hungry pedophile that's sealed in the glass cage.

Going with that the dreamer would have to not mind his nightmares/be a sadist, some possible dreamers that could merge with Reala include anarchist punks, goths, fans of the kind of rock music that features random drum banging and screaming, and people who hate their mums and dads... D:

Oh, the possibilities indeed. He'd probably try to fly above a deep pit, and then de-dualize, thus dropping the defenceless dreamer into the pit, hopefully leading to nightmare if they were a bit too perky. However, if the dreamer was a total jerk, he/she would probably throw Reala into line.

Why we need Danny is A)He's an insomniac, so he's going to be less likely to do anything to Reala, and Awesome changing the world from 3-D to 2-D powers.
