Also, Tragick. I appreciate that you wanna show off your merchandise but could you make the image smaller? It's a bit too big for a signature image. Thanks.

I thought the inside of Jackle's cape was black. It's okay though I'm not complaing.
The next picture confuses me. Why does it say brand new and segasaturn dream? Does this mean the original will be on the game and that the updated one will be something else to choose?

Bad enough I'm gonna have to disrespect it with the PS2 version.

No!! Is the Saturn version not sacred? Leave it be! Or something..
Bad enough I'm gonna have to disrespect it with the PS2 version.
Yo it's two versions on that disc. The first original untouched game and the ported game. Read the post above yours. I got it badly translated.

EDIT: And is it also just me, or was that neck-ruffle not originally part of Jackle's outfit???
Also, it's cool that you can choose between the new 3-D graphics and the 2-D graphics; this gives old-time players a chance to go even deeper into nostalgia than if they hadn't.
ANOTHER EDIT: Ah, nvm about the Jackle question... *just checked and found that she was wrong* XPPPP *will draw that into her in-progress Jackle art eventually*

I know; it's as if owning the O.G. is now meaningless, other than the value or nostalgia or whatevr. Next I'm gonna hear that they're bundling a special Saturn-esque controller with the gameYo it's two versions on that disc. The first original untouched game and the ported game. Well, it might not yet.I know; it's as if owning the O.G. is now meaningless, other than the value or nostalgia or whatevr. Next I'm gonna hear that they're bundling a special Saturn-esque controller with the game
They might exclude a few features, or it might run slower or faster.
...
In all honesty I'm very surprised they can even GET the original Saturn game in there O_O. This is definitely a must-buy for anyone now. If you don't have a PS2, get a PS2 emulator! *SHOT*

I got excited when i saw 'brand new dream' thinking it was gonna be new levels or something for Elliot and Claris...but reading it again, Brand New Dream is basically the saturn version with the lovely new graphics and 'Saturn Version' is the old skool graphics. But, hey, it's all good. Jackle looks very swanky. Glad to see that Maren again, even if he's gonna kick my ass all over that damn toy-box. XD
Seriously, people. We were SCREAMING for a V.C port. We're getting that and something much better...even if it's on a PS2.
I wonder what the '?????' is. o.o
Also, Elliot looks bloody awesome with the new shine.
And, after clicking the link, i guess that answers my questions about the FMV then. Meh, probably better they didn't update it, anyway. They could have possibly ruined it if they did.
All in all, i'm looking forward to this.

Everyone says that the Wii cannot emulate the Saturn, yet here we have this console that has only about one fourth its power and the game is coming onto it? Weird.
Well, this brings hope that Journey of Dreams will also get the original version, right? Please do it, Sega. If you don't, I am going to have to consider choosing a different second-favourite game company!

A boss attack mode or something would be pretty cool, but that's probably not gonna happen. Either way, though, this is looking pretty awesome...hopefully the music is revamped slightly too.

Wow, that was hard. O_o I sent a letter to Sega of America about the Delay, and about it just going to japan. Hopefully, they reply.

As for the Saturn version on the PS2... I'm guessing they recreated it, or found a way to port it. Keep in mind, this might have been in production for a good few years... so they might have taken some time to crack it and put it in. Once again, don't know >>. However, that would make sense for why it's NOT coming to Wii; they don't have a way to port it as of yet. Just PS2. Again, I don't know.

How this relates to NiGHTS? Simple, from what I hear on developer's cost to make an XNA or Virtual Console/WiiWare title, is about 1/4 of what it cost of a regular full PS2/Wii type game (based upon new titles, and not rereleased emulated titles, like Pac-man, or Did-Dug, etc.). So, in the interest of money (and Sega is as guilty of this as any other dev out there), if the sales on the PS2 are good, don't be surprised if you see NiGHTS available on other systems.
I'll try and find an exact cost on average for devolpers, just so people know, but, like I said, this is still dependent on the popularity and/or sales of both the PS2 remake, and NiGHTS JoD.

Posted 25 November 2007 - 06:00 PM
Hmm.... that is a good point.Even if it does seem to be PS2 for now, it opens the door to future releases based upon sales/popularity on to the other systems downloadable services (i.e. Xbox Live Arcade, and/or WiiWare/Virtual Console service).
Either way, though, I'm still thinking it's going to be PS2-Only... for the time being.

I'm Hoping for a more reasonable price, something closer to 30 USD. I think that would be a more sensible price range for a remake such as this. Though I guess we'll just have to see...
#108
Posted 25 November 2007 - 06:53 PM
As a consumer, I'm hoping that they make it only $30 or $25 (and they might, it being after Holiday Season), but... since it's a bundle of NiGHTS goodies in one disc (Saturn, PS2 Remake, Gallery, the ???, Movie Viewer, Presents... ), I'm not sure D8.I can only hope that Sony doesn't slap a 50 USD price tag on it when it's released. It wouldn't make sense to do that for a remake of an older title. Though as Sony is full of greedy jerks, it wouldn't surprise me any... T-T

I really don't think that Sega is trying to placate every console manufacturer with their own NiGHTS "treatment." It does not make any sense for them to do that. If they want to get more people to buy NiGHTS, then they put both the sequel and the remake on both consoles. Since they would have to downgrade Journey of Dreams to get it running on PS2, Sony is never getting that game. As for the remake, it would make far more sense to spread its release net as widely as possible. And more and more people are buying Wii, and the fact that it is so easy to port games from PS2 to Wii gives Sega no excuse not to release it on Wii.
Come on, Sega, announce it. Your position as my second-favourite game company is starting to get into serious doubt here.

So far, it looks like it. Wii is getting JoD. PS2 is getting PS2 Remake. ONLY 360 and PS3 is getting 'Twilight Adventure'. I heard there MIGHT be the possibility for PSP/DS spin-offs. Sounds like they're giving each console a bit of the franchise, and letting it get known from there.I really don't think that Sega is trying to placate every console manufacturer with their own NiGHTS "treatment."
As for putting it on the Wii... I honestly don't know why they'd put it on the Wii, unless they put JoD on the PS2. More people have PS2s, therefore, more people would buy JoD. And, fyi, it is possible to put JoD on the PS2. They'd just have to make it run on the PS2 by cutting down on the polygons and etc. Games have done that before. Burnout Revenge, for instance, had a PS2, Xbox, and 360 game. If you ask me, I just think anti-Sony people are hurt and down because the NiGHTS remake is coming to PS2 and only PS2. That's just my opinion though.
@_@. Let's just talk about the PS2 Remake instead of how awesome it would've been on the Wii, or how much one hates the PS2.

Besides, the more exposure the "franchise" gets, the more people who will buy the games. All of my whining will be for naught, probably, as I will break down and buy a PS2 anyway.
And I never heard of a game coming for 360 or PS3. Can anyone give me some info on that?

Sure. It's the only reason why I want a PS3 >:. In all honesty, the PSP is the last console-device (it's technically a handheld >: ) I really wanted from Sony... but one of my favorite franchises is on there so 8D;; .And I never heard of a game coming for 360 or PS3. Can anyone give me some info on that?
From TRiPPY and DiGi.:
Plans for Xbox 360 and PS3 game in 2008. Not said to be a port, which has been apparently ruled out now, but a new game amusingly titled 'NiGHTS -Twilight Adventure'. (Source from January 2007)
Now, that COULD have been scrapped, or changed to the PS2 Remake... we don't know D8.

Just what I was thinking. What was all that stuff about NiGHTS being hard to port? I can't see why they can't bring this to the VC. I definately won't be buying this game because there's no way I'm buying a Playstation. I'm not console bashing, I just don't want to buy one.Everyone says that the Wii cannot emulate the Saturn, yet here we have this console that has only about one fourth its power and the game is coming onto it? I know its all in English, but understand thats how the Japanese NiD games are too. Well...at least Christmas NiGHTS is. I have the Japanese Christmas NiGHTS and the only Japanese lettering I remember is from the screen when you enter Time Attack or Link Attack mode. Everything else was in English. Even the menu and Presents titles. Correct me if I am wrong though.

I am looking forward to this, but all I really want to know is if its coming to America or not. I will keep my hopes up but I am not sure.

Hmm. That scratches off the high beliefs I had of it coming to other parts of the world to nothing more than a small prediction
It seems pretty unnecessary to put english on a disc only meant for those in Japan. It would be much faster to just put the nations language and call it a day. I don't understand how devs operate anymore. Then again I never knew how in the first place.

Sorry to put a damper on your day. Don't lose too much hope though. The methods may have changed since then. I have never played another Japanese version of a game except Christmas NiGHTS, so I have no idea if they would be changing this approach. It does seem odd to have so much English but the general Japanese public do know a 'little' bit of English. But I too think making all the menus in English is a bit much even if they are only a few words. This is showing up on the Japanese site though so I would assume this is what the Japanese version of the game will look like. Or maybe they are making it look exactly the same for a world wide release. I have NO idea! Sega can be pretty strange sometimes.Hmm. That scratches off the high beliefs I had of it coming to other parts of the world to nothing more than a small prediction
