Anyways yeah, back to PS2. Wonders if it is Christmas NiGHTS, will it have a graphical upgrade too? Eek Sonic into Dreams in shiny graphics! XD.

It's going to be a "Thank you for playing!" screen. I just know it.LOL remember Sonic Gems?

I think it is Chritsmas NiGHTS as well. But will it be the orginal or updated version? There are two menus to play old and new NiGHTS into dreams, but only one menu for what we think is Christmas NiGHTS. Will it have a submenu so you can select all the things that were available from the orginal Christmas NiGHTS game? Who knows. Maybe that is too much for them to do and they will just put the Nightopian Collection in there like you said.Getting this thread back on topic again, i was discussing/betting with DiG' what the ??????? section will be in the PS2 version and i still think its Christmas NiGHTS (or just the Nightopian Collection)
OH OH
LOL remember Sonic Gems?
WHAT IF ITS THE ARCHIE COMICS XD
Also, what about Sonic Gems? What was so funny about it? I haven't played it that much so I don't get it.
If they do put the Archie Comics in there for some reason then I think it would be in the Gallery section.

Like I said I am not saying this is true!!!
It would be kinda cool for SEGA to make a Christmas NiGHTS for the ds. Everyone who preorederd NiGHTS JOD could get Chritmas NiGHTS as a free gift. Then like a month later they could release NiGHTS into Dreams for the DS.
I would prefer NiGHTS into Dreams for the DS instead of a new game. I mean the DS is capable of the graphics level of the Saturn.
It would be so cool to be able to take NiGHTS into Dreams with you wherever you went. Unlike the PS2 which is a dying system the DS is mid way.

If it is Christmas NiGHTS I'm sure it'll probably just be the original. Their main focus seems to be on the actual game itself.

Obviously, the method of beating a stage has been changed from directly score attack driven to goal oriented and that will help it sell better. It still looks hella fun to me and thats what matters. The voices, story, all that doesnt really matter much in the long run so long as the game play is fun. NiGHTS into DReams had Claris and Elliot, and I didnt even LIKE those characters. But it didnt make a sh!t of difference to how much I enjoyed playing it.

Ditto, man. They must think Japan sales are doing the best, and a PS2 sale in only Japan is the best way to go. I thought JoD was ok; it had its ups and its downs, but I'd choose the original any day. JoD doesn't have the same feel the original did >>.I never thought it'd be like this but I'm starting to get jealous and angry. It's like SEGA doesn't give a damn anymore. So what if Japan loves the game. What makes you think we outside of Japan don't like it either? I'd much rather play this over the game you released on the Wii anyday. I still can't believe this.
With that SAID, don't take this as the final plan. I'm practically 100% positive they're releasing it in Japan, see how it does, then talk about whether to issue it to US and Europe.

>_> I know; it's all really silly. They just wanna make sure it's worth making >____>. SEGA isn't like Nintendo; SEGA doesn't always look out for the fans, no offense. We have some people who do (or, rather, did), but some just want money. Seriously, though, why does nearly every single Mario game seem to be awesome and high-quality? Because Nintendo knows how to make a good game, and how to please the fans. SEGA sometimes tries for that, but doesn't go all the way. Lots of businesses are like that, in lots of different areas of work. Not just video games. But they should know we already want it! This is stupid! JoD was frekkin MADE HERE, and Japan STILL gets the shirts and soundtrack EXCLUSIVE (for now). ITS NOT f*!*ing FAIR GET A CLUE YOU ASSHOLES
(pardon me, I'm just downright pissed about this)
The truth is, SEGA probably doesn't care what the fans think, and is only going to try to make games for areas that they think will sell well. If they think they can make more money in Japan and only Japan, they're going to do it.
Again, though, I'm pretty sure they're using Japan as a testing area, and sending us PS2 NiGHTS internationally when it's done.
I know; it's really just... silly and stupid what SEGA's doing. We don't have much control over it, though X_X.

Hey all, is this a good deal? I see a slashed price, dunno if anyone's seen this yet
http://us.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.aspx/code...pid-1005158901/
Interesting. It says 'Japanese Version'. I wonder if that's a hint that they're planning an 'English Version', or if it's just the way that site is organized. If they don't release it outside of Japan, they'll loose money -- it's too obvious of a point to ignore, especially after they've just released Journey of Dreams... The new game will revitalize the thirst for the old game, making it a prime time to make it available for new players. And with the absence of the Saturn console, it makes sense to port it to the widely-known PS2... But only if it's for all countries!
As for the price... $66.99 for the game doesn't sound all that outrageous, considering that when the PS2 was more popular, games in the US were running $55 or so apiece at their cheapest. And since NiGHTS into Dreams is not only in Japanese, but also a digitally remastered remake -- I'd say that sounds about right. And besides, with a SEGA Saturn, NiGHTS into Dreams, and Christmas NiGHTS into Dreams -- you try to find them all on Ebay, and the price of the PS2 remake looks a bit more reasonable.
Ironically, they're now trying to sell 'pre-orders' of the PS2 NiGHTS into Dreams on Ebay.

Well, now, I haven't heard exactly whether JoD was a commercial success or not, but I think SEGA is worried with PS2 remake being a commercial failure outside of Japan; they might think that the casual gamer or the gamer that knows little about NiGHTS is not going to be interested in a remake.Interesting. It says 'Japanese Version'. I wonder if that's a hint that they're planning an 'English Version', or if it's just the way that site is organized. Pray to God it comes here though T_T.

PLEASE, SEGA, PLEASE!! *sigh* How do we get the message to them.. Hataya-san even said in an interview, if there's an interest here, they'll release it.. well, THERE IS, DAMMIT

Well, this may be false hope for some since I never heard "YES IT'S COMING", but, if what I know about business is correct, it will. Eventually.PLEASE, SEGA, PLEASE!! *sigh* How do we get the message to them.. Hataya-san even said in an interview, if there's an interest here, they'll release it.. well, THERE IS, DAMMIT
Like, say, anytime between 3 months - next winter. But it will.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Remember when Iizuka said that JoD was being made by NiGHTS fans? That's impossible, cause they were doing this.
And I realized something kinda frustrating: this remake has had a longer development cycle than JoD. Was a pre Christmas release date REALLY worth the square hands and NiGHTS's blow hole mouth? But seriously though, SEGA seems to keep forgetting there will be another Christmas next (this) year.

In all honesty I have kinda lost faith in SEGA on a lot of things. It was like after the Dreamcast nothing made any sense anymore. Sonic's gone downhill. Everyone on the web that loved the original NiGHTS was so happy when this got recognition only to have to sit back down and feel disgusted. I hope NNR07 is right though. That's all I'm gonna say. Patience I guess.Remember when Iizuka said that JoD was being made by NiGHTS fans? That's impossible, cause they were doing this.

At any rate, I just want it to see if there's anything different... not to mention I don't have a Saturn memory card, so I can save scores on the PS2 card.

I have to say I'm verrrry impressed by the improved graphics (it still looks good even on my big telly) and having played Spring Valley and Splash Garden, I can say, it feels very nice to play too.
After the start screen, there are options for:
The tarted up version,
The original Saturn version,
A selection marked ???????? which I'm assuming is Christmas NiGHTS but I'm not sure untill I unlock it (I only had about 20 mins on it this afternoon)
Gallery options etc can't remember exactly right now
The menus are mostly in English so that dosen't pose a problem
either.
Well worth importing, especially as it comes with the beautiful book!

I bet you got the soundtrack ordered too like me.

You need to finish NiD to unlock Christmas NiGHTS.
There is no presents section on it, the christmas present gallery pictures are in with the normal picture gallery. I unlocked the nightopian collection by playing it through again, so I'm assuming that the other presents like Sonic etc need to be unlocked this way (not definite about that though)
Christmas NiGHTS is (as far as I can see) only playable in the new polished graphics mode and not the SegaSaturn mode.
Also, when you complete the levels in the Brand new mode, you also unlock them in SegaSaturn mode so you don't need to do it twice.
Have a nice time playing it and please put some photos for some of us that dont have it.
I bet you got the soundtrack ordered too like me.
Thank you! I will put some pics up later today if I can get my camera to work..
Sadly, I haven't ordered the soundtrack yet. My car has decided to die and we're saving like mad to try and get another one, so won't be able to get it for ages, even though I really want it
Hope you enjoy it though

A shame about the CD but if it runs out of stock before you can buy it tell me and I can try sending some tracks your way or if you simply cant wait. That is whenever mine gets sent and it arrive safely to my house.
Just wondering as well if your order was about £29 with delivery as that is what I paid. I just hope that they dont forget to refund me for the Sonic cd that was cancelled.
That description of yours is indeed very nice and I got to get myself a way to play the game in the near future to see it for myself on my tv!

The book is a tad smaller than what I thought it was- Maybe the original print is bigger, or its just my imagination, but its gorgeous! Me and Maresuke were oogling at it last night when I got home. The pictures are so nice to look at in person, instead of on the screen. As for the game, I needs me a mod chip! Otherwise its staying right in the box. But hey, we got a booklet in colour this time around, because its from Japan! XD

Anyway, darn I am still waiting for mine. I am probably the only one here that orders the 10 day shipping on her NiGHTS items because she is not willing to pay $20 shipping just to get it in 4 days. Sorry guys, but no....... I still need to order Action Reply and a new memory card anyway. So meh......
Glad to hear the book is nice though. I am so excited to see it.

Ha ha! Lucky guess- who would have even thrown my name out there in the first place?Maresuke told me I would not believe who she was staying with. I joked and said it was you but I had no flipping idea I was right.....
Anyway, the book is very very nice. I'm happy I finally got everything; I was beginning to wonder if my mom remembered to order it or didn't order the right thing or something like that. Wow, a month later and my birthday is still going on. *lol*
Anyway, maybe I should look into an Action Replay too. I don't know jack about mod chips and gizmos and special codes or any of that crap, so I'm kinda flying by the seat of my pants here. ^^; I look forward to actually PLAYING it!

She said I would never guess. So I thought of the last person she would be with that lived close to her in the US. From my limited knowledge, that was you and that is why I guessed it. That or I am psychic.Ha ha! Lucky guess- who would have even thrown my name out there in the first place?

FOr the PS2, its Action Reply Max. I would get another memory card for it too. I have reasearched and some say it formats their memory card, while others say its a load of bull. I would get anotehr momory card just for this game so you can be on the safe side.

Yeah, I was imagining the book to be bigger. When I first saw the package as I pulled it out of the mail, I was going "Wait this does actually have the book in it, right? "
I ordered a PS2 game-shark a few days ago so I should be able to use that to play it 8]

Hmm.. Anyone mind posting pictures of this re-released book. It's possible it is in fact smaller than the original... Because I wouldn't calll mine small by any means.

Than most likely its half the size, as I imagined. If nobody else posts any pictures by the time i get home from work, I'll see if I can't get Maresuke to help me take some pictures, or since Maresuke'll be home before me, ask if some can be taken before I get home. Either way, I'll see what I can do. Basically, the book is like laying two PS2 game cases beside each other. Thats what the box looks like: Like there's two games in it.Hmm.. I think I just thought that the original book was bigger, for some reason. ^^; Well, I didn't end up going to work, so I'm just playing the waiting game, so I can ask Maresuke to use the camera. Its most likely exactly the same.

So does the Action Replay Max let you play import games? Amy Rose, what are you using to play the game?
