..... So they sue you for providing free advertisement? XDDDD

Not for providing free advertisement but for using their characters to advertise their stuff.
(I know it makes about just the same amount of sense though. :S)

The ultimate way I can think of is by creating a meme. The internet goes crazy over these things. Like photoshop Master Chief to look like Reala or create a funny techno remix. Something like that.

I agree with the meme part - but stuff like that isn't something you "make" it's just something that happens and people catch onto it and repeat it. There's nothing worse than a forced meme. :(

But yes, internet - it's much better at catching a target audience of millions~ draw lots of fanart, put links in your signatures on EVERY forum you visit pointing to either here or Sega's official NiGHTS site, make YouTube videos of NiGHTS-y stuff... I unno. XD But the net is cheaper, easier, quicker and just better at spreading the word than printing out loads of fliers (not to mention you can sorta avoid all those legal issues of reproducing images and suchwhat).

Okay, I should do fanarts now. 8D

Whenever I get around to playing Animal Crossing Wild World I like to put a gift and the website address in a bottle and send it out to sea. Hopefully someone comes here. I dunno what else I'd do though. I'm pretty lazy about it.

I'm gonna do up some posters and stick 'em all over town when no ones lookin. I'm a mail man so it wont be hard lol. I'll just bung them into my mail bag. Dunno about postin them into peoples doors though, I might get sacked. XD

On second thought I might get told off for postin bills while workin too lol. So I'll just do it in my spare time.

This is a good idea.
Advertises to a random set of people if you leave the internet connection open on the game.
(Gate open I believe it is.)

I've been posting quite a bit about NiGHTS in my LJ. I actually started last year when I went on a short NiGHTS fanart-binge, and that got the attention of some of my friends (i.e., I freaked them out with fanart of Reala). Since then I've been posting updates about JoD, and a few of my friends who've never even heard of NiGHTS are interested in it now, including one who wants to get the PS2 remake. :( So yes, folks, keep bugging your friends! Surreptiously mentioning NiGHTS on forums/in LJs/on art sites helps, too.

I'll try to get some fanart uploaded on DA soon. I've got a decent number of watchers, so hopefully some of them will be all, "OOoo, wassat?!"

Even if I don't like how JODs is looking I still want to support NiGHTS' return so I was considering making fliers and posting them around town on bulletin boards and maybe seeing if I can get the game stores have a few sit at the checkout counter for people to take. I mean, it'd doing them business too, right?

small resolution of my first design... I wish I knew the release date for sure so I could put that on there but....

Cool. That's really well made, Mary. Great stuff. :)

Also, TRiP just mentioned an idea and i dunno if anyone else here has suggested it.
Here in the UK we get adverts through the front door, usually from independat local plumbing/electric/removal companies and take away's. I'm presuming you guys must get that in America too, right? Well, we were thinking rather than just hand out fliers in the street, why not make it a job to post the fliers through houses instead. This way, people will see the advert for sure amongst their letters and wonder just what the hell it is. Usually, the stuff that comes through our front doors looks plain and dull. Imagine being the person to pick up the mail from the front door and going through the usual boring 'removal company service' adverts and then coming to NiGHTS. It will totally grab the eye of the person.

If someone has already mentioned this, however, then excuse me. ^^;

Crap.. I showed someone Girania yesterday on another message board and she thought it was cool, but I don't know if she's aware of NiGHTS. We also would need to target people who have or may have a Wii.

I wonder if Shigeru Miyamoto has any thoughts about JoD.. since we know he's a NiGHTS fan.. or at least appreciates it.

'Hey! Now that all of you bought my new game, make sure to buy the new NiGHTS game coming out real soon!'

Hm.. is auto-spelling of NiGHTS disabled? Guess that's so links don't get screwy.. heh, now we'll know who's paying attention to the spelling

We get them here as well because I live in an apartment complex... mostly takeout ppl leave their menus at the doors or our rent company leaves notices this way, however It'd be really neat to do as well. I just wouldn't want to do it alone.

P.S. Thanks!

I mentioned this in the "general Chit-Chat" section, but felt it also needed a mention here, so here goes:

SEGA's marketing team for JoD may not suck as badly as we originally thought. Granted this lovely news is coming a mere two and a half weeks before the "launch" date.

I was at GameStop the other day, and I happened to see a small shelf hangar that read as follows:

"FREE NiGHTS Journey of Dreams bonus DVD with the purchase of any new E-Rated SEGA title!! See store associate for details."

Now, I'm not sure if this is a global GameStop thing, or if my store just got REALLY lucky. But I'm going to try to get a hold of one of those DVDs and get everything off of it. I figure there might be some stuff on there that we haven't seen yet? Maybe?

(As a heads up, I work at that store, and I was completely unaware of this new development in our marketing kit)

Just so you guys know, it's illegal to put fliers inside peoples' mailboxes... don't get arrested, lol x_x"

I think sticking them under windshield wipers is OK, though. If you really wanna do that XD Or stick them up on random public bulletin boards, like at your college dorm or something.

I almost learned that the hard way when a former friend who worked as a tutor asked me to put his business card in the mailboxes in the gated community I used to live in with Loren. I was so lucky though because the mail lady actually phoned him when she noticed the cards and yelled at him and he called me and I ran down there and collected the cards while she was still there. lol!

Yyyyeah don't make that mistake!! It can be a pretty hefty fine! So please take care with the flyers.

yes, thats why i posted the larger version:

So that it won't be pixleated when you print it.

I'll also stay away form mailboxes... I wasn't planning on doing that, just leaving them at people's doors.... but I'll just keep to boards like at Giant, schools, and laundry mats. Still going to ask the Game stores too.

Doctor Steel style. XD
That would be fun, though!

As for my little effort in this project, I'm a drawing/writing/music maniac. I've already gotten several friends and several random passers-by into NiGHTS through those three talents of mine.
Art class at school, especially. <_< Oh that is fun. My first major project had to be presented, and it happened to me a Nightmaren -- you should have seen the jaws drop! Did I ever get a lot of questions about the series then...!

I asked my local GameStop and they treated me like a retard.... told me to ask the music store across the mall... I told them it's for the VIDEO GAME and he still suggested I goto t e music store... It's almost like... they didn't eve know what I was talking about. I gave up on them. I'll try some other places and start looking for more boards.

Surprisingly enough, I have an idea for this. I'll try to get the rough sketches up tomorrow or on Friday, depending on work and how much of work will tire me out. But this may be really fun for me. Considering I haven't done anything for the new site/forums besides my procrastination to tattoo flash of NiGHTS. But I think this will put my art skills up a bit more. So here's hoping yet again.

Don't forget folks we have the internet aswell.

Its easy to make Flash banners using Dreamweaver, Maybe we can ask some other sites to put up some free advertising for the game (NiGHTS/game related of course)

Don't forget your Myspace and Facebook pages they can be spruced up with NiGHTS and even having simple avatars and banners in for your user profile helps gets the NiGHTS face out there.

I'm sure there will be plenty of advertising during its release but a little push won't hurt.

Of course the best time to promote will be during Febuarey.

Its best to know who are key demographic is and to hit the areas they will advertising most.

I wish we had some life-sized cardboard cut outs of NiGHTS and ask local Game stores to put them up for display, that would rock!

I unfortunately expected something like that would happen. >.<
Be careful about doing something like that though.

Did anyone mention doing comics and trying to spread them on the web?
That might be an idea...

The funnier they are the more attention grabber.
