Recently, I had gotten the game 'M.U.G.E.N.'. It's a 'free' fighting game (The License for it Expired), and you can make your own characters for it.

I heard a few people talking about it before, but... well... if a few people were willing, who would help make NiGHTS for M.U.G.E.N. 8D?! If we got a few Sprite Artists together, and programmers... we could create a few characters from NiGHTS for M.U.G.E.N. . It will be hard, it might take months... but it WILL be worth it!

Hm.. how would the flight be emulated? There are a few flying characters, like Magneto, Storm, and Iron Man.. I'd need parameters for building the sprites properly and I'd definitely love to make them..

Hmm... good point. Flight could probably be part of his attacks, i.e.: Dashing head-first into enemies.

As for parameters, most sprites it seems are about 89 x 102 Pixels. Around that area. Although, they can actually be any size desired. I know there's a fair amount of chibi characters you can download for M.U.G.E.N.

Well, right now, I'm making a Caterpie for MUGEN with a friend (who does all of the coding and dirty work, har har), while you can imagine what part I'm doing. :(

Sadly, I'd be the head spriter for this... if I could sprite NiGHTS worth a potato. D:

Mugen's great, I just dont like the ear blistering volumes the videos go in to after recording. Anyways, I'll happily give my servies to the NiM sprite :(

...Lol, GiANT NiGHTS. I suppose that at 50% size, the sprite is perfect for MUGEN... just minus the extra shades of purple and stuff to make it easier to make palettes and save on file size. X_X

Yeah... a palette needs to be developed. After a few more sprites have been made, I'll start the coding.

lol, thanks for comparing.. I was trying to find some Capcom sprites last night, but didn't.. I'll reduce him by 50% and see what that looks like.. first I tried the size NNR suggested, it was way too small.. so I doubled it. Not sure how long it took.. the better part of an hour, maybes..

Is the 50% the one next to Spidey? In that case, I'll reduce 65% maybe..
I'll limit the shading to a couple of hues I guess..

I said it because I'm honest X3. I see many sprites of M.U.G.E.N. characters... your sprite work is qualified for making M.U.G.E.N. characters. Although, yes, NiGHTS will be done first, THEN Jackle, I still want Jackle in M.U.G.E.N. X3.

I just noticed something:

You saved the sprite in .jpg format. That's why there must be color distortion... I guess that's why there are so many "shades" of the same color?

I've only heard and seen fanvids of this fabled M.U.G.E.N., but I never thought I'd see NiGHTS involved! XD This is awesome!

Quick post: sketched drill dash animation on paper, also forward movement animation. Coming up with move ideas.. Drill dash control probably oughtta be quarter circle forward punch/kick, different buttons correspond to the direction you travel. Super moves include super drill dash (like Wolverine's Berserker Barrage X or Megaman's Rush Drill), a ricochet dash somewhat like maximum spider. Pondering how to properly integrate paraloop. Standard moves should be made up of acrobatics wherever possible.. NiGHTS should be a very good speed/combo fighter.

- Sparkly thingies off of punch attacks similar to MJ in MUGEN that only do 1 damage, but help with combo'ing the opponent. Punches could do a very small amount of damage (5-8; NiGHTS has leg strength : /) in order to balance this, because the punches would have a small amount of knockback to begin with, but the sparkles would actually reduce the knockback by "stopping" the enemy before they can go too far.

- NiGHTS could have a Super where he gains freedom of movement (flight) around the stage in 8 directions (<^v> and combinations) and damages the opponents with the sparkles that trail from NiGHTS's arms, as well as a possible drill dash attack (maybe the DD Super could be executed during this Super?).

- Throw where NiGHTS grabs the enemy and executes a drill dash that sends the opponent flying in a straight line while NiGHTS travels a short distance forward.

- Alt. palettes could have the red gym on NiGHTS's chest turn blue/green/white/yellow (other ideya colors).

- Like viper said, acrobatic moves when possible. ^_^

The NiGHTS sprite is AWESOME but 1 tinny tiny problem. After you crop the picture so it wont oversize the screen you cant see NiGHTS' smile o.o

Ok. Thanks ^___^! Yeah... Hmm... Paraloop might be a good special attack as well, although a super drill dash is good too X3.

araloop could be something like Urien's super move from Street Fighter 3 where he drops the wall of enery in front of him. NiGHTS could do a paraloop and leave a stationary black hole on the screen for a few seconds which damages anyone who touches it.
Either that or it could be a super move like Shun Goku Satsu, does insane damage, but NiGHTS has to grab you t do it.

Great ideas, Gun and Sairus.. I was thinking the same thing with punches, that NiGHTS would emanate sparkles n such.. a vacuum paraloop is a cool idea, I like that a lot..

Okay, jsut so you know guys, this isn't the first time some has tried to make a NiGHTS character for M.U.G.E.N. Far from it, I was once wanting to do an entire iMAGNi/WtaHM one, until I realized the insane amount of work that's involved.

First off, to have a character able to appear in Mugen without it crashing on you, AND it being able to interact with other characters, you need the following animations:

-idle
-crouch
-jump
-take damage (at least one, but most likely, you'll be needing about 3-4 different damage animations depending on the type of attack that hits)
-knocked over (same as above, you'll need about 3-4 different ones)
-being thrown (see above again)
-KO (and again)
-Walk (forwards and backwards)
-high attack (standing, jumping, and crouching)
-medium attack (standing, jumping, crouching)
-low attack (standing, jumping, crouching)
-at least two 'meta' moves
-at least one super
-at least one special

Oh, and this isn't including things like effects and projectiles, which I assume a NiGHTS character would have lots of.
((BTW I only know this because I'm actually the lead artist for a fighting game project at the moment, I'm not being a smartarse, just letting you know what you're getting yourself into ^^:D)

Note to self- SFX - the only hit sound we have is 'watch it!', would be used sparingly.. unless you clip out the first fragment, use that as an impact sound

I think someone already made one that was on YouTube.
But yeah, I tried MUGEN once, all it did was crash.
If I ever get it working, I'd wanna use Reala.
